Shipping, Delivery and Pickup

Required Legal Notice
Any wine sold to you from Flickinger Wine is sold in Illinois and title passes to you, the buyer, in Illinois. All orders are shipped by Flickinger, a licensed Illinois retailer. The buyer is solely responsible for shipment of wine. We make no representation concerning your legal rights to ship or receive wine into any state outside of Illinois or into any country outside of the United States. In fact, there are certain states and countries that we cannot ship to. By placing an order, you authorize us to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to your selected destination. You must be 21 years or older to buy wine. By placing your order with Flickinger Wine you certify under penalty of perjury that you and the recipient are at least 21 years old. When the wine is delivered, the recipient will be required to show identification proving that he or she is at least 21 years old. The willful misrepresentation of your age or the age of the recipient is a crime in most states, and if you willfully misrepresent your age or the age of the recipient, Flickinger Wines will cooperate with authorities to prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.

Taxes
All wines collected or delivered within the state of Illinois are subject to Chicago local sales tax – there are no exceptions. If Flickinger fails to add sales taxes when the order was placed, Flickinger reserves the right to correct and collect any sales taxes due. All orders shipped outside of IL are not subject to IL sales tax collection by FFW. Payment of wine charges, tax and storage charges, if any, is required prior to release of the wine. All orders picked up at our location are subject to sales tax - there are no exceptions.

Important message about your delivery

Shipping
Shipment can usually be arranged within 24 hours of receipt of payment and any applicable taxes or permits. It is recommended that buyers pickup their wines whenever possible, as commercial shipment can be risky, especially in the case of older and more fragile wines. Buyers who specify air shipping for their wines should be aware that changes in pressure can result in easing or failure of corks, particularly with older wines. Shipping charges include shipping container and insurance. The charge is $.50 per $100 and covers breakage or loss only. Note that weather damage is NOT covered by this insurance. Wines must be inspected by the buyer upon receipt and any loss or breakage must be noted on the Shipper's documents. Flickinger Fine Wines, Inc. must be notified immediately of any breakage or loss claims. Should this insurance coverage not be desired, a written waiver of insurance and any subsequent claims must be received prior to the shipment of the wines. Without insurance, loss or damage due to any cause will be at the buyer's risk. Neither Flickinger Wines nor its agents can assume responsibility for any deterioration resulting from shipment.

The states we ship to changes frequently. Please call or email to inquire. We are not repsonsible to complete shipping to states who's laws have changed since the order was placed.

Orders received after 2:30 pm U.S. Central Standard Time will be processed the following business day. Thank you for your patience.

Delivery Attempt
It is the Customer's responsibility to be present at the time of delivery. If no one is available to receive the package, a subsequent attempt to deliver will be made. Whenever possible, we encourage you to use a commercial business address to assure the fastest delivery time. If subsequent attempts are unsuccessful, your order will be returned to Flickinger Wines. The Customer will be required to incur the cost of shipping and handling, regardless of the Customer deciding to cancel the order.

Extreme Weather
Flickinger Wines has a policy not to ship in extremely cold or hot weather. Transporting wine in extreme weather conditions, even by overnight service, may seriously damage wines. During periods of extreme weather FFW strongly advises against transport of wines by any means. During these times we are pleased to provide complimentary short-term storage until better conditions prevail. If shipment is requested during periods of extreme weather, the buyer will be required to authorize a shipping release through email and phone to free FFW from any liability for damage incurred to wines shipped during periods of extreme weather. The ultimate shipping method and timing is yours.

We do not accept returns of wine that is distressed due to shipping. We can not be responsible nor can we replace bottles damaged by the weather. Again, the ultimate shipping method and timing is yours.

Local Delivery
Generally, Flickinger charges $16 per package and $8 each additional package for a delivery in the greater Chicagoland area.

Pick Up
Pick up is available Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm. You can pick up the wine from our location on 1600 S. Stewart Street in Chicago (we like to have 24 hours notice)

Important message about our Inventory

Occasionally, we will sell out of an item due to the vast inventory and high volume of our business. Our database is updated hourly. We reserve the right to correct errors on pricing and to limit quantities.
