WA 92 (2/2024): The 2020 The Bohan-Dilon Pinot Noir has slowly opening scents of cranberry sauce, red berries, mushroom, cinnamon and mossy bark. The light-bodied palate is chalky and refreshing with concentrated, layered flavors and a long, spicy finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. VM 90 (8/2023): The 2020 Pinot Noir The Bohan-Dillon is an attractive, soft wine. Medium in body and aromatic, the 2020 is very nicely balanced. Crushed red fruit, spice, orange peel and sweet floral notes are nicely layered in this very pretty, understated Pinot Noir. All things considered, this is very finely done. The blend is 70% Hirsch and 30% Hellenthal. Antonio Galloni. |

JD 94 (11/2023): A killer value, the 2021 Pinot Noir Bohan Dillon is a lot of wine, with an expressive perfume of wild raspberry, lavender, fresh herbs, and soil. It’s medium-bodied, with fantastic balance, refreshing acidity, notes of black raspberry and baking spice, and a long finish. This is a lovely and exceptional wine. VM 92 (8/2023): The 2021 Pinot Noir The Bohan-Dillon is a young, brooding wine. Dark cherry, plum, dried herbs and licorice are nicely delineated. The Bohan bottling is usually a bit more approachable in its youth, but that does not appear to be the case with the 2021 at first. I would give this a good bit of aeration. Antonio Galloni. WA 94 (2/2024): The 2021 The Bohan-Dilon Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from three vineyards in western Sonoma: Hirsch, Heintz and Hellenthal. It has slowly unfurling scents of raspberry preserves, saline, licorice, cinnamon, tea leaves and orange peel. The medium-bodied palate is bursting with berry, earth and floral layers. It has an alluringly silky texture, mouthwatering acidity and a long, layered finish. It's a notably expressive version of Bohan-Dillon and one you could cellar over the next decade. |

JD 93 (8/2021): The lightly hued 2019 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast offers lots of minerality as well as terrific citrus, mint, and sappy green herb-like aromatics. These all carry over to the palate, where the wine is medium-bodied, has bright acidity, and a salty, marine-like hint on the finish. It's beautifully done and well worth seeking out. It should have 7-8 years or more of longevity, probably longer. VM 93 (1/2022): The 2019 Chardonnay is bright and sculpted in feel. Lemon peel, sage, white, flowers, mint and crushed rocks abound. This is an especially savory expression of Chardonnay. The 2019 spent 10-11 months in oak, about 20% new. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 92 (7/2022): The 2020 Chardonnay Estate is scented of baked yellow apples, beeswax and flint, with undertones of green herbs. The full-bodied palate offers concentrated, honeyed fruits, tangy acidity and a long, textural finish. JD 94+ (8/2022): The 2020 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is mineral-driven, with crushed seashell, lemon pith, and chive. The palate is fresh with white peach, ripe pear, and honeysuckle. The texture is medium-bodied, soft, and fresh, with a wonderful elegance. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.Located in Fort Ross, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, David Hirsch purchased his estate in 1978 and planted his first vines in 1980. The 2019 vintage, which was predominantly what was shown to me, marks the first vintage with his daughter, Jasmine Hirsch, taking the lead as winemaker for the estate. They have been practicing biodynamic viticulture since 2011 and were fully converted over in 2014. Their focus and attention is on the site, resulting in wines that offer elegance and purity, with transparency in regard to their sense of place. |

WA 95 (2/2024): The 2021 Chardonnay Estate is precise and detailed despite its inherent generosity. The nose offers pure crushed apple, flint, dried hay and jasmine aromas. The medium-bodied palate features highly concentrated, savory and floral fruit. It has a luxuriously satiny texture, refreshing acidity and a long, nuanced finish. VM 94 (8/2023): The 2021 Chardonnay Estate is fabulous. Creamy and yet also phenolic, the 2021 captures all the magic of this site. Dried herbs, orange peel, lemon confit, dried flowers, chamomile and a whole range of mineral notes all grace this super distinctive Chardonnay from the Hirsch family. Antonio Galloni. JD 93 (11/2023): The 2021 Chardonnay pours a medium straw color and jumps from the glass with sea spray, lime blossom, green apple candy, and delicate flinty lift. It’s medium bodied but has a fantastic silky texture, with a hint of pineapple, Meyer lemon, and bread dough. It has a lovely viscosity and has freshness without harsh edges. Drink 2023-2033. |
