Thorevilos Proprietary Blend |

WA 95+ (10/2013): The 2010 Thorevilos seemed more tannic and backward than the 2009, which is somewhat of an anomaly in my tastings of these two vintages. Lots of espresso roast, white chocolate, blueberry, black raspberry and floral aromas jump from the glass, but the wine hits the palate with a crescendo of fruit, glycerin and body. Elevated tannins then kick in giving the wine a huge structure as well as a Bordeaux-like austerity. This wine requires 4-5 years of cellaring once released, and should evolve for more than three decades. |

Matriarch Proprietary Blend (3X750ML) 3-bottle OWC |

WA 95 (10/2016): The 2013 Matriarch, which may well be the finest Matriarch made to date, could easily stand on its own as a single-vineyard offering. Made from the odds and ends of the single-vineyard wines, nevertheless this is pretty great wine, and I joked with the winemaking team that maybe their selection process was too draconian. Dense purple, with notes of mulberry, blackberry, chocolate, cocoa and espresso, the wine is dense, full-bodied, opulent, and a total hedonistic turn-on. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. |

Matriarch Proprietary Blend (6X750ML) 6-bottle OWC |
$1,470 |

|
WA 93 (10/2018): The 2015 Matriarch, bottled in early 2018, is medium to deep garnet-purple in color and simply sings of crushed blackberries, black raspberries and warm black cherries with nuances of chocolate box, aniseed, cinnamon toast and lilacs. The full-bodied palate is rich, concentrated and lively with fine-grained tannins, finishing long. JD 96 (1/2019): For readers looking to experience the style of the Bond releases at a slightly less painful price, the 2015 Matriarch is a good option, and in 2015 it’s not far from the single vineyard releases. Offering a Melbury-like sensation of graphite, with plenty of lead pencil, violets, and red and black fruits, this beauty is full-bodied, opulent, and loaded with the sweet fruit that makes 2015 such a compelling vintage. Drink this any time over the coming 15+ years. VM 93 (12/2018): The 2015 Matriarch is an absolutely gorgeous second wine from BOND that benefits from the diversity of fruit sources that go into the blend. That is quite obvious when comparing Matriarch to The Maiden, the second wine of Harlan Estate, which draws from a more narrow set of parcels. Ripe red and purplish berry fruit, blood orange, mint and floral notes all grace this exquisitely silky, captivating wine from BOND. The 2015 Matriarch is just gorgeous. Antonio Galloni. |

40th Anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon (1.0 L) 1-liter bottle |

WA 96 (10/2014): They appear to be immune to some of winedom’s less than intelligent trends and fads that we see from time to time, and the result is a spectacular 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 40th Anniversary offering. Its dense purple/black color is followed by copious quantities of crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, silky tannins, a voluptuous texture and stunning purity as well as length. This full-bodied effort is a fabulous example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a tribute to this amazing family. It is so good now, why wait? However, I’m sure that like most vintages of Caymus, it will last for 20-25 years. Amazing! WS 91 (11/2014): Lavishly oaked, with creamy mocha, vanilla, cedar and anise notes at the edge of a rich core of dark berry, plum and black licorice flavors. Tight, focused and persistent, showing a seductive character. Drink now through 2026. 122,158 cases made. VM 85 (12/2014): The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 40th Anniversary from Caymus hits the palate with a rush of dark cherry, plum, Coke, chocolate, brandy, spices and sweet new oak. There is good texture, viscosity and immediacy to the fruit at first, but the sickly sweet new oak and vanillin become overpowering soon after, totally covering the fruit and attenuating the mid-palate and finish. Thankfully, the finish is short. Even by today's standards in Napa Valley, this is a decidedly sweet style of Cabernet Sauvignon quite unlike pretty much anything else I tasted this year. Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.0 L) 1-liter bottle |
$155 |

|
WA 94 (12/2015): A beautiful ripe, plump, fat and opulent style of Cabernet Sauvignon that Caymus has pioneered, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has a dense purple color, loads of juicy blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, low acidity and no real evidence of oak, but a nice, plush, full-bodied opulence. This is irresistible, especially for a Cabernet Sauvignon coming in at 14.9% natural alcohol. Drink it over the next decade or more. VM 80 (1/2015): The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark and unctuous, with notable inner sweetness and texture that coats the palate. Blueberry syrup, brandy, prunes, cloves, mint and cola are some of the signatures. This is one of the more opulent, ripe 2013 Cabernets readers will come across. This thick, unnaturally unctuous Cabernet tastes heavily processed. |

Cariad Proprietary Blend Signs of Old Seepage; Bin-Soiled Label |
$325 |

|
|
WA 94 (6/2011): There are 450 cases of this blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The 1999 Cariad has aged beautifully, revealing abundant notes of cedar wood, sweet blueberry and black currant fruit and camphor. Powerful and medium to full-bodied with sweet tannins, it appears to be close to full maturity. However, aging it another 12-15 years will be no problem. The wine is better than I initially rated it (91 points) and exhibits greater longevity. Drink this beauty now and over the next 12-15 years. VM 93+ (6/2002): Medium ruby. Superripe aromas of roasted currant, black cherry, black raspberry, peat and licorice, all lifted by a floral note. Sweet, lush and pliant, with compelling dark fruit and licorice flavors. Finishes very long, with major tannins and a flavor of bitter chocolate. I slightly underrated both this wine and the Herb Lamb '99 a year ago. WS 92 (3/2003): Weaves together a complex array of spicy currant, blackberry, tar and cedary oak flavors that turn supple and elegant, finishing with a complex aftertaste accented by touch of mocha. Intense and concentrated, with a long flavorful finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2004 through 2015. 450 cases made. |

WS 88 (11/2005): A rich, elegantly styled Cabernet, with generous ripe plum, black cherry, herb and fresh earth notes that are vibrant and complex. Excellent balance, finishing with a long, clean aftertaste. Drink now through 2010. 65,000 cases made. |

Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon Lightly Bin-Soiled Label |

VM 93+? (6/2006): Good medium ruby. An essence of cabernet on the nose, with blackberry, licorice and floral aromas complicated by an exotic suggestion of fruity tropical chocolate. Then large-scaled, fat and sweet in the mouth, with highly concentrated black raspberry and chocolate flavors. The powerful mountain tannins coat the front teeth. Like a cabernet syrup today, in need of at least seven or eight years of aging and likely to be long-lived. |

VM 100 (12/2018): I knew it was only a matter of time before Davide Cilli would make a wine at Promontory that would represent the maximum expression of this rugged hillside site. The 2014 Promontory has been exceptional in the past, but it has also gained another gear or two over the last year, which is pretty much now standard for these wines. Stunningly delineated and precise, with tremendous purity and exceptional balance, the 2014 Promontory dazzles from start to finish. This is an especially translucent style, one that is more about persistence and balance than power alone. Stated simply, the 2014 Promontory is towering achievement from one of Napa Valley's most talented young winemakers. Kudos to the Harlan family and the winegrowing team led by Bob Levy and Cory Empting for creating the framework that allowed Cilli to craft this exquisite, riveting Cabernet Sauvignon. Antonio Galloni. WA 99 (9/2019): Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2014 Promontory bursts from the glass with bold, brazen notions of crushed blackcurrants, black raspberries, wild blueberries and redcurrant jelly with a compelling perfume of rose hip tea, sandalwood, unsmoked cigars and dried lavender. Full-bodied, super intense and yet wonderfully ethereal, it has a firm line of very fine-grained tannins, tons of freshness and incredibly vibrant, crunchy fruit, finishing long with bags of energy. JS 99 (11/2019): This is a red with such incredible depth and beauty with a tannin structure that just melts into the glass. It’s full body, yet extremely tense and perfectly succent. Hints of bitter lemon, cedar and dark berry. Pine needle and spice with fresh mushroom. It’s reserved and wonderful. Tension and focus. First vintage aged in all cask. Impressive now but one for the cellar. New classic for Napa. Better after 2022. JD 98 (1/2019): Starting with the 2014 Promontory, this is a riveting wine in the vintage and will unquestionably be one of the longest-lived as well. Sporting a saturated purple color as well as a rock star nose of ripe blue fruits, crushed rocks, graphite, and leaf pencil, this monster of a wine hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, building tannins, a stacked mid-palate, and a finish that won’t quit. Where most 2014s are already accessible and charming, this needs 4-5 years of bottle age and will be a 40- to 50-year wine. WS 94 (9/2020): Lush and forward in feel, with alluring steeped plum and blackberry reduction flavors, lined with singed alder, tobacco and sage hints. Picks up a lovely warm gravel note, while the fruit keeps the upper hand on the extremely long, smoldering finish, showing greater depth and structure as it moves through. Best from 2021 through 2034. 1,785 cases made. |

Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon |

|
WA 93 (2/2005): The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select was performing even better this year than it was last year. While not as weighty and ageworthy as some of the more hallowed vintages, it is a seriously endowed wine. Deep ruby/purple to the rim, with a gorgeous nose of creme de cassis, licorice, graphite, spice, and cedar, it is more forward than most vintages, but full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully seductive. Drink it over the next 15 or so years. |
