Today at Flickinger Wines we would like to showcase another recently acquired cellar featuring just Old World wines. A collector that was drawn towards the beautiful wines of Burgundy with some small highlights from other regions and countries. Do not pass on the 2009 Dom Perignon Brut Champagne, the 2005 Chanson Pere et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches, the 2018 Bouchard Pere et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Greves Vignes de L’Enfant Jesus or the 2012 Nit de Nin Priorat. WS 92 (5/2008): A seductive nose of wild red berry, flowers and Asian spice draw you in, and the bright cherry and red currant notes keep your attention. It has delicacy and detail, with a supple texture and refined tannins. Fine length. Best from 2011 through 2022. 175 cases imported.
WA 88 (6/2007): From Chanson’s substantial portion of this famous vineyard comes a 2005 Beaune Clos des Mouches redolent of fresh blackberries, cinnamon, cedar and smoked meat. Firm and substantial on the palate, this finishes with concentrated tart fruit skin, solid meatiness of both flavor and texture, and faintly gum-numbing tannins. As with most of the Chanson 2005s I tasted ( a rather rough and dry-finishing Clos Vougeot excepted) this seems to have enough vivacity and intensity of fruit to ride out the tannins over a few years. Also recommended: 2005 Beaune Teurons (85). |

NM 93-95 (12/2016): The 2015 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers has a more feminine, more fruit-driven bouquet than the NSG Clos des Porrets, very pure crushed strawberry, red cherry and cranberry aromas that gain intensity all the time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with blood orange on the entry, plenty of lively red berry fruit with admirable mineralite and tension on the finish. This is a superb les Pruliers from Domaine Gouges and it should give a couple decades worth of drinking pleasure.
WS 93 (5/2018): A chunky block of cherry, raspberry, sweet smoke and stone flavors, locked in a grip of tannins, with plenty of rich, ripe fruit to match. Best from 2022 through 2035. 125 cases imported.
BH 90-93 (1/2017): ( a 2 ha parcel with a mix of 80% 75+ year old vines and the remainder of 15 to 20 year old vines.) This too is firmly reduced. The velvety, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors also possess excellent volume and mid-palate concentration with a very high level of phenolic maturity to the firm supporting tannins on the moderately austere and rustic finale. This too is very definitely classic Nuits in character that will require plenty of patience. Drink 2027+. Outstanding! |

BH 91-94 (4/2020): Here the attractively layered nose is comprised by deeply pitched aromas of poached plum, red cherry, spice and a lovely array of floral nuances that are laced with warm earth hints. The earth character is picked up by the dense, powerful and tautly muscular medium-bodied flavors that brim with old vine dry extract on the youthfully austere and ever-so-mildly austere finish that is shaped by markedly firm tannins. Excellent.
VM 92-94 (1/2020): The 2018 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru comes from 97-year-old vines, the oldest of the domaine. It has a wonderful, transparent, disarmingly pure bouquet of perfumed crushed strawberry and cranberry aromas laced with rose petals. The palate is silky smooth on the entry, with touches of kirsch infusing the red fruit, and later blood orange and quince, leading to quite a precocious finish. This will be very seductive once bottled. Neal Martin. |

| BH 87-90 (1/2017): Reduction. There is excellent detail to the vibrant and mineral-inflected flavors that possess a finer mouth feel before concluding in a delicious, balanced and lingering finale. This should drink well young. |

| BH 92-95 (1/2012): Deep ruby. A superbly multifaceted nose offers up nose of notably ripe black berry, plum and earth as well as hints of animale and underbrush. There is outstanding power to the very concentrated and serious large-scaled flavors that are underpinned by a dense layer of dry extract that does not completely buffer the exceptionally firm tannins as they too coat the mouth. This is an old school Clos de Vougeot that is positively Cistercian in its finishing austerity. I very much like this but I would only suggest purchasing it to those who have the forbearance to wait as this will definitely not be an early drinker. |

| WS 84 (11/1995): Distinctively smoky and toasty, sporting lovely, silky texture and nice wood. The finish is a bit diluted and alcoholic. Could use more fruit concentration. Try in 1999. |

| VM 94 (9/2014): (60% garnacha and 40% carinena; aged for 18 months in French oak, one-third of it new): Dark ruby. Exotically perfumed bouquet evokes red berry liqueur, incense, apricot and smoky Indian spices. Ripe and expansive on the palate, offering sweet black raspberry and floral pastille flavors and a jolt of peppery spices. Closes on a sexy lavender note, with supple tannins providing shape and melding smoothly with the wine's lush fruit. |

| WA 92 (3/2021): Keller's 2018 Spätburgunder S is a blend of the fruit from vines less than 30 years old that are cultivated in the top sites of Bürgel, Morstein and Frauenberg. The purple-colored wine opens with a pretty deep, elegant and spicy bouquet with cherry aromas. Silky, round and intense on the palate, with red berry and cherry flavors, firm yet fine tannins and a refreshing character, this is a lean and pure yet also intense and sustainable Pinot with a refreshing tangy finish due to the 25% whole clusters used during the cuvaison. Bottled without fining or filtration in July 2019. |

| VM 95 (12/2022): The 1834 Malvasia is soft, supple and exquisitely beautiful. Gentle and open-knit, with soft contours and tons of charm, the 1834 is another very sensual, delicate Madeira. Spice, worn-in leather, tobacco, mint, dried flowers, hazelnut and light caramel notes all take shape. Tasting the 1834 is like looking at painting or other piece of art from the same time.
