2008 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Reignots
Vintage: 2008
Region: Burgundy Red
Color/Type: Red
Size: 750 ML
Tasting Notes:
BH 93 (1/2011): (the Liger-Belair vines in this small vineyard run from top to bottom whereas the others are situated in segments; Cathiard is on top, Grivot in the middle and Arnoux at the bottom.) The most elegant and coolest of these Vosne 1ers with a plum, violet, rose petal and anise suffused nose that gracefully introduces the detailed, intense and highly refined middle weight flavors brimming with an almost pungent minerality before culminating in a seductively mouth coating and strikingly long finish. Reference standard Reignots. Drink 2020+. Outstanding!

VM 92 (3/2010): Good medium red. Subtly complex nose offers cherry, raspberry and minerals. Delivers the sweet fruit of 2007 in spades, with a slightly high-toned quality that adds to its sex appeal (all these 2007s have volatile acidity levels around 0.6, according to Liger-Belair, which helps to explain their expressiveness.) Fat and sexy wine, with a complicating saline nuance. Finishes with sweet tannins and superb length. Stephen Tanzer. BH 91 (1/2010): ( from a .6 ha parcel situated two-thirds in Cruots and the rest in Champs Traversin.) A complex and layered nose of crushed herbs, floral and red berry fruit aromas leads to sappy, dense and powerful flavors that display both power and precision on the muscled, focused and driving finish. This is completely different from the Reignots and does not have the same delicacy or refinement though I would still characterize this as an Echezeaux of finesse. Drink 2017+. |

| BH 94 (1/2015): (from a .6 ha parcel situated two-thirds in Cruots and the rest in Champs Traversin.) Interestingly this is the spiciest wine in the range outside of the La Romanee that combines with a really lovely panoply of red and blue fruit and floral scents. There is excellent volume and mid-palate concentration to the fleshy and generous medium-bodied flavors that possess controlled power on the beautifully complex, balanced and long finish that is a bit less austere than that of the Reignots. This is also excellent and should drink well both young and fully mature. Drink 2027+. |

| BH 94 (1/2016): ( from a .6 ha parcel situated two-thirds in Cruots and the rest in Champs Traversin.) This is also strikingly spicy with exotic tea, anise, clove, cinnamon and dried orange peel nuances adding considerable interest to the black cherry, cassis and violet-suffused nose. There is seriously good richness and volume to the concentrated and marvelously seductive flavors thanks to an abundance of dry extract that really coats the palate and buffers the firm tannic spine on the energetic and beautifully well-detailed finale. I very much like the sense of harmony here as well and this should drink well both young and when fully mature. Drink 2028+. |

BH 97 (1/2012): Initially a mild touch of reduction mutes the nose but some aggressive swirling quickly releases a kaleidoscopically broad range of spice nuances that add real breadth to the ultra-elegant, ripe and quite pure aromas of red pinot, plum and cassis that precede the rich, full and silky medium-bodied flavors that are discreet yet powerful and superbly persistent. This is an exceptionally stylish and classy wine that is supported by ultra-fine tannins and the hallmark finishing austerity. While the '09 La Romanee is essentially a wine of finesse it doesn't mean that it isn't built to age because it more assuredly is, indeed it will require at least 20 years to arrive at its peak. Drink 2029+. WA 97 (4/2012): Initially a mild touch of reduction mutes the nose but some aggressive swirling quickly releases a kaleidoscopically broad range of spice nuances that add real breadth to the ultra-elegant, ripe and quite pure aromas of red pinot, plum and cassis that precede the rich, full and silky medium-bodied flavors that are discreet yet powerful and superbly persistent. VM 96 (4/2012): Good full medium red. Knockout, soil-driven nose combines black raspberry, flint, coffee and smoky minerality. Like liquid silk in the mouth but with superb energy for the vintage. In its creamy sweetness, firm structure and tight but fine-grained texture this reminded me of a platonic 2007 Barolo. The rising, palate-staining finish features noble tannins and exhilarating sweetness. Liger-Belair believes that the better 2009 red Burgundies will age for 20 years, but he thinks the 2008s and 2010s will be even longer-lived due to their precision and acidity. |

| BH 88-91 (1/2014): This is also sufficiently reduced as to render the nose difficult to assess. A quality villages. (Drink starting 2019). |

WA 89 (7/2015): Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2002 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots was a little smudged and reductive on the nose, developing savoury and dried meat notes with time. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin on the entry, good weight but missing the tension and precision that subsequent vintage will bring. Tasted June 2015. BH 92 (1/2005): Curiously, the nose is quite ripe but slightly austere with an airy, pure and superbly elegant breadth of aromas that leads to punchy flavors are full-bodied, rich and delicious with more prominent acidity and a powerful, indeed even explosive finish. The structure is buried and completely buffered by all of the sappy extract and there is an appealing minerality on the extremely persistent finish. This is very classy juice that presently displays a subtle hint of finishing wood. |

BH 94 (1/2008): (The Liger-Belair vines in this small vineyard run from top to bottom whereas the others are situated in segments; Cathiard is on top, Grivot in the middle and Arnoux at the bottom). Much airier and more elegant floral notes of rose petal and violet aromas plus sweet blue and black pinot fruit notes that can also be found on the mineral-suffused flavors that are precise, linear, focused and cool on the chiseled and beautifully long finish. I very much like this and while it's less generous than the Chaumes, it's classier and absolutely crystalline in its purity. A stunner. Drink 2017+. Outstanding! VM 94+ (4/2008): Good deep red-ruby. Sappy plum and redcurrant aromas complicated by tobacco and minerals. A step up in sweetness, concentration and floral lift from the Chaumes, this one boasts palate-staining redcurrant, leather and mineral flavors and a powerful impression of extract, not to mention a compelling sappiness for the vintage. Finishes dry and classic, with superb punch. "These vines always produce very small bunches," notes Liger-Belair. A decade of aging may bring an even higher score. WA 91 (4/2007): From vines (some 80 years old) just above their monopole La Romanee, the Liger Belairs’ 2005 Vosne-Romanee Les Reignots displays vintage-typical notes of black raspberry and blackberry, exotic spices, mocha, vanilla, and a decidedly strong gamey character for a wine so young (but which Liger-Belair seeks to assure me is a passing reductive phase). Savory soy and salty, stony mineral notes add to the undeniably complex impression made by this bright, elegant, texturally spare Pinot, and there are fascinating lingering notes of floral perfume, new wood, forest floor and passing woodland creatures. When best to drink this and where it is headed, I cannot guess. But in the interest of full disclosure I should note that some of my more illustrious colleagues gave this very high marks, at least before bottling. |

WA 96 (4/2012): The 2009 Vosne-Romanee Les Reignots explodes onto the palate with dazzling richness and power. Black fruit tar, licorice and smoke are just some of the many aromas and flavors that stain the palate as this dark, brooding Burgundy shows off its pedigree. Layers of fruit build effortlessly to the huge, intense finish. Underlying veins of salinity give the wine its sense of proportion. In 2009 the Reignots is superb Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. BH 94 (1/2012): (the Liger-Belair vines in this small vineyard run from top to bottom whereas the others are situated in segments; Cathiard is on top, Grivot in the middle and Arnoux at the bottom.) This is not quite as floral as the Brûlees though it is perhaps even a bit fresher with a highly spiced nose that is very Vosne in character. The supple, round and beautifully well-delineated middle weight flavors seem to exude both a liquid minerality and plenty of dry extract that buffers the firm but sophisticated tannins on the tension-infused, focused and highly complex finish. This should be terrific and I really like the impeccable balance of this long and powerful yet strikingly refined effort. Drink 2024+. Outstanding! VM 93 (4/2012): Deep red. Strawberry and mocha aromas display hints of surmaturite. Creamy-sweet but firmly structured, with an almost candied quality to the red fruit and chocolate flavors and big, tongue-coating tannins. Outsized for this bottling but manages to maintain its balance. |

| BH 90 (1/2016): (a .78 ha parcel of vines between 50 and 70 years of age.) An ultra-fresh nose presents a broad range of spice and floral notes on the mostly red berry fruit aromas. BH 94 (4/2012): A superbly fresh and beautifully layered nose of cool red berry fruit, floral notes and wet stone, the latter of which is present in abundance on the rich yet beautifully detailed middle weight flavors brimming with minerality and energy, all wrapped in a focused, linear and precise finish of huge length, which remains at present youthfully austere. A classic Ducster that will require 10 to 12 years to be at its peak and readers should note that unlike some '08s, this will not be especially approachable young. Drink 2020+. VM 93+ (3/2011): Bright medium red. Pungent aromas of raspberry, cherry, minerals and spices. Lush and silky in the mouth but with terrific energy and a weightless character to the flavors of red fruits, spices and flowers. This round but very young wine has a terrific spine for development in bottle. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and noteworthy vibrancy. Has the most dimension of this set of 2008s. WA 94 (8/2013): The 2008 Pommard Clos des Epeneaux is far superior to the 2005. It is relatively backward on the nose, but it has startling delineation with open, natural red-berry fruit – predominantly freshly picked strawberries, raspberry and pomegranate. With continued aeration it offers a cheeky hint of white chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins. This is very harmonious and feminine with a silky texture that lends it a Vosne-like finish. What a lovely 2008! Drink now-2022+ VM 93 (3/2011): Medium red, a bit less saturated than the Volnay. Sexy, pure aromas of cherry, raspberry and flowers. Tangy and energetic but supple, with perfectly integrated acidity intensifying the cherry, menthol and mineral flavors. This very broad wine coats the cheeks without leaving any impression of weight. Finishes juicy, subtle and very long, with a classical dryness. A very classy Pommard and still a baby. Leroux pointed out that he did a stricter sorting of this holding in 2009 than in 2008 as there were more underripe berries in the later year. Quite splendid for the vintage. BH 90-93 (4/2010): (the vine ages in this 5+ ha vineyard run from 18 to 75+ years of age. The 2007 Clos des Epeneaux is segregated into 3 different cuvees based on vineyard location and will then be blended in varying proportions. The tasting note that follows is based upon a sample that should reasonably resemble the final blend.) Extremely subtle wood frames more complex and more densely fruited earthy and fresh red pinot, plum and currant aromas that slide gracefully into detailed, intense and big-bodied flavors that possess plenty of dry extract which does its job of buffering the firm tannic spine on the detailed, balanced and strikingly long finish. This appears to have excellent aging potential. Drink 2020+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! |

WA 89 (6/2010): Smoky Latakia tobacco and bittersweet herbs accent the bright, fresh red berry fruit of Lachaux’s 2008 Chambolle-Musigny, with the decadent side of this appellation revealing itself in suggestions of forest floor, well-hung game, and faded lily inner-mouth perfume. Refined tannins underlie a finish tinged with smoke, fruit pit bitterness, and considerable intrigue for a village-level wine. I would expect this to provide admirable satisfaction for at least a half dozen years. BH 87-89 (1/2010): Very mild reduction cannot suppress the otherwise lightly spiced high-toned and cool red pinot fruit that gives way to supple but precise flavors that possess ample verve and a touch of minerality on the dusty, long and linear finish. I very much like the mouth feel here and this has the potential to be a very good villages. Drink 2014+. VM 87 (3/2011): Good medium red. Pure aromas of blackberry and blueberry lifted by mint and menthol. Juicy and supple, with moderate intensity and ripe, harmonious acidity. Nicely balanced wine with a savory finish featuring slightly dry tannins. Pascal Lachaux believes that 2009 will be a "mid-term vintage," while the 2008s "will be good early and late" and may never shut down. |

WA 88-89 (6/2010): Smoky black tea, pungent brown spices, and tart cherry inform a Barthod 2008 Chambolle-Musigny of enervating brightness yet incipient textural richness. Tart and pungent in its lasting finish, this will no doubt strike some tasters as leaning toward austerity, but I anticipate an exuberant, highly versatile and stimulating performer at table over the next half dozen years if not longer. “Especially in a challenging vintage," notes Barthod, “my village Chambolle benefits from originating in so many and such diverse locations." VM 87-90 (4/2010): Full, bright red. Pretty aromas of raspberry and flowers. Juicy, intensely flavored and perfumed; with its sappy acidity, this really stimulates the salivary glands. Finishes with suave tannins and noteworthy energy. As strong an early showing for this straight village wine as I can remember. Of course, this wine had the advantage of having been racked at the beginning of September, whereas the premier crus had been racked just a couple weeks before my early November visit. BH 86-89 (1/2010): A more elegant and ever-so-slightly riper nose also displays very high-toned red pinot fruit that is in keeping with the lacy, textured, detailed and minerally middle weight flavors that are racy, linear and precise on the firm and persistent finish. This is not overly complex, at least not yet though this may come with a few years in bottle. Drink: 2013+. |

WA 92-93 (6/2010): Peat, wood smoke, leather, and soy in the nose of Chevillons’ 2008 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Cailles are joined and complimented by rich cherry and plum on the stubbornly gum-coating palate. A tart fruit skin edge; fruit pit piquancy; brown spices; chalky underpinnings; and saliva-inducing salinity all contribute to the invigoration and vibratory, lip-quivering intensity of a multi-faceted finish. There is certain handsome leanness here - bordering on austerity - but what a lot of energy as well! Lock some away for half a dozen years and expect it to perform impressively until at least age 18. VM 91-94 (4/2010): (racked in July) Deep, bright red. Superripe, complex nose melds berries, violet, damp earth and a whiff of balsamic vinegar. Wonderfully silky and suave on entry, then spicy and pure in the middle, with a very fresh black cherry flavor dominating underlying earth and floral notes. This spreads out impressively on the back end, with broad tannins saturating the palate. BH 91-94 (1/2010): (from a 1.12 ha parcel of 75+ year old vines). The most complex array of aromas to this point with an airy, elegant and classy nose brimming with violets, anise, earth and red currant notes that complement to perfection the rich, full-bodied, generous and round medium weight plus flavors that explode onto the hugely long and powerful finish. A wine that manages to pull off the rare feat of being at once imposing yet highly refined. Drink 2017+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! |

BH 91-93 (1/2010): (from a .60 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines). An elegant, pure and stony cool red berry fruit nose laced with earth and underbrush nuances, both of which can also be found on the beautifully detailed and strikingly complex flavors that culminate in a long and linear finish. In a word, terrific. Drink 2015+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! VM 89-91 (4/2010): (racked in July) Bright, full deep red. Less fruit and more smoke and stony minerality on the nose. Ripe and broad, with little easy sweetness to the mineral and soil flavors. This builds impressively and gains in complexity on the long finish, and will need a good five years of cellaring. WA 89-90 (6/2010): Ripe dark cherry purple plum; nut oils; pungent green herbs; and smoky black tea scent and flavor the Chevillon 2008 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Perrieres, which features chalky underlying suggestions that true-believers will associate with its site, as well as a prominence of tannin that will encourages 3-5 years’ wait before enjoying. Cherry pit piquancy further enhances this palpably dense Pinot’s rather austere side, but there is overriding vintage-typical juicy brightness to spare in its sustained finish. I suspect ultimately this will merit following for 10-12 years. |

VM 90 (3.2023): The 2008 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, poured from magnum, has matured admirably in bottle, losing the new oak that shrouded its birth, revealing more sprightly red fruit, more Pinoté. The palate is medium-bodied with a candied, pastille-like entry. Caramel hints permeate the red fruit; very smooth, but it feels just a little monotone toward the finish. Enjoyable, but it lacks a bit of intellectual heft. Tasted at the Clos Vougeot tasting at Château de la Tour. Neal Martin. BH 94 (1/2011): An especially ripe nose features a spicy mix of earthy red berry fruit aromas that are trimmed in discreet oak. The earth-suffused, serious and strikingly textured full-bodied flavors possess plenty of sève and a youthfully austere, linear and impressively persistent finish. In sum, this is an outstanding Clos de Vougeot though one that will require ample patience. |

BH 93 (1/2011): (from a .55 ha parcel in the En Orveaux climat with vines planted in 1924 and 1979). As good as the Brûlees is the Echezeaux is notably more complex with its beautiful nose of cool, pure and airy purple fruit, primarily plum, and spice elements that includes anise and clove that can also be found on the mineral suffused, lacy and energetic flavors that possess excellent underlying material on the firmly structured, linear and persistent finish. A wine of harmony as the supporting tannins are dense but fine. Drink 2018+. VM 90+ (4/2011): Medium red. Very closed nose hints at dried fruits, tobacco and spices; shows a bit less lift today than the Brulees. Then sweet but youthfully disjointed, with some slightly edgy acidity running through the wine. Fairly smooth in texture, but the finish is bracing and a bit peppery. This may need up to a decade to come into harmony. |

| VM 91+ (4/2011): Cherry, menthol and saline, smoky minerality on the nose and palate, with the wine's oak element currently blocking its aromatic purity. Then spicy, dry and quite closed in the mid-palate, but with a penetrating, sappy quality to the rather glyceral flavors. Dense but backward wine, finishing with serious dusty tannins. Showed a purer cherry character with long aeration, but this seems the most difficult of the 2008 Faiveley wines to taste today. |

BH 92 (1/2011): A more elegant but cool and reserved nose of exceptionally pure red berry and plum aromas also possesses notes of earth and underbrush that transfer seamlessly over to the rich, full and focused medium weight plus flavors that are actually quite supple and round but where this really distinguishes itself from the Vaucrains is the seriously impressive depth on the moderately austere and mildly herbal but hugely long finish. Like the Vaucrains, this will need plenty of time. Drink 2018+. Outstanding! WA 92 (6/2010): Another vividly red-fruited as well as red meaty and tight, bright, yet silken-textured essay, the Gouges 2008 Nuits-St.-Georges Les St.-Georges incorporates piquant sage, black pepper, toasted nuts, salt, and fruit pits in its long, lip-smacking finish. There are low-toned dimensions of roasted red meats and peat as well as an emerging, decadent inner-mouth aura of floral perfume that take one beyond the complexities of the corresponding Vaucrains, and at the same time - notwithstanding bright fresh fruit vivacity - lend a sense of substantiality note found in any of the other Gouges 2008s. I would expect this to perform well for 15 or more years. VM 92+ (4/2011): Moderately saturated medium red. Tight, pure nose offers restrained scents of cherry, flowers and peppery spices. Then sweet but taut in the mouth; impressively concentrated owing to the very low yield here but quite closed and hard to taste today. Perfumed and powerful wine but ungiving, and showing less sweetness than the Vaucrains. I'd hold this for five years. |

VM 92 (4/2011): Good bright red. Complex, highly aromatic nose offers redcurrant, tobacco, game, iron, leather and peppery herbs. Sweeter in the middle and more powerful than the Pruliers but with lively spiciness and peppery lift. Finishes ripe and long. A lovely wine, seemingly less austere than the 2009 version. WA 91 (6/2010): Raw red meat and tart cherry in the nose of Gouges’s 2008 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Vaucrains are accented with sage, white pepper, and salinity, all of which combine in the mouth for a pungency, vivacious, saliva-inducing, and deeply-concentrated impression. Here are both the meat and the meat-tenderizing acids, herbs, and brine in one, handy glass! This displays a surprisingly caressing, silken texture to compliment its brightness, and finishes with vibratory intensity as well as invigoration and refreshment such as one doesn’t expect from its genre. The strongly mineral and carnal elements as well as the slightly acerbic personality will excite some of us more than they will others. I think this will prove delightfully and intriguingly versatile over the next 12-15 years. BH 91-93 (1/2010): (a 1 ha mix of younger and older vines that average about 50+ years of age). Gouges noted that they harvested only 18 hl/ha in 2008. Mild reduction does not completely hide the herb-infused ripe red berry fruit aromas that are nuanced by hints of earth and underbrush, both of which can be found on the rich, full and very serious flavors that are tautly muscular and possess real tension on the mouth coating, concentrated and impressively persistent finish. This is not a big Vaucrains by the usual standards of this wine but it's focused and powerful. Drink 2018+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! |

| BH 92 (5/2011): A strikingly fresh and highly complex nose is quite cool and restrained and only grudgingly offers up notes of bright red pinot fruit and mineral nuances that characterize the racy, precise and driving middle weight flavors that culminate in a moderately austere finish of beautiful length and impeccable balance. As it typically does, this manages to combine power with finesse. (Drink starting 2020). |

BH 94 (5/2011): ( from 45+ year old vines that sit just above Champans.) This too serves up a remarkably layered if extremely reserved nose that displays plenty of earth and spice as well as very fresh and cool aromas of red and blue pinot, floral notes and an obvious mineral influence that continues onto the tautly muscular and overtly powerful big-bodied flavors that are long, serious and focused on the presently austere finish. It's interesting to compare the quality of the tannins between this and the Caillerets - here they are denser but less fine and as a consequence, this will need a few extra years of cellar time. Drink from 2023+. Outstanding! WA 93 (5/2011): The 2008 Volnay Clos des Chenes is a powerful, intense Burgundy. There is a weightless energy to the Clos des Chenes that I find hugely appealing. Beautifully delineated aromatics and fruit are nicely framed by the clean, saline finish. This is an impeccable wine from Lafarge. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2033. VM 93+ (4/2011): Good deep red. High-pitched aromas of black cherry, violet, licorice and crushed stone. Like liquid silk on entry, then concentrated, primary and penetrating in the mid-palate, with beautifully integrated acidity accentuating the wine's dark, medicinal aspect. At once broad and lively on the finish, with rich dark fruit flavors building slowly and staining the palate. I might have picked this blend as a Cote de Nuits wine. |

WA 92-93 (6/2010): The Lafarge monopole 2008 Volnay Clos Du Chateau Des Ducs leads with striking buddleia perfume, kirsch, and aromatic intimations of oceanic salinity and crustacean savor. Juicy and vibrant; elegant, tenderly-fruited and polished; this is one of those wines that manages to enervate and caress at the same time, and in which bright ripe fruit is allied to a remarkable depth of elements than can only be explicated in animal and mineral terms. Overt suggestions of chalk and cherry pit lend the buoyant finish a measure of austerity, but it is so saliva-inducing and refreshing that severity is not a risk. It should last for at least 15 years. BH 91-93 (4/2010): A nose of pure pinot and dissolved mineral notes complement to perfection the detailed and stone-driven medium-bodied flavors that possess fine volume and a gorgeously balanced finish. The harmony here is Zen-like. Drink 2018+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! |

BH 93-96 (1/2010): (from a .37 ha parcel in Les Veroilles of 40+ year old vines save for a very tiny parcel in Richebourg proper.) A very fresh, expressive, pure and stunningly spicy nose of notably ripe black and purple pinot fruit and a host of subtle Asian spice nuances, including star anise, hoisin and soy that are in keeping with the deep, serious, tautly muscled and mineral-suffused broad shouldered flavors brimming with dry extract that really coats the palate on the vibrant, precise, mineral-driven and hugely long finish that is linear but less austere than usual. An excellent '08 with terrific development potential. Drink 2023+. VM 93-96 (4/2010): Good full red. Wonderfully sappy aromas of raspberry, orange peel, rose petal and flinty, smoky minerality. Compellingly sweet but utterly primary, with terrific energy and definition to the flavors of red fruits and pungent minerals. Perfectly balanced wine; less creamy today than the Brulees but even more sharply delineated. Perhaps most impressive on the explosive rising finish, which shows more fruits and minerals than tannins. WA 92-93 (6/2010): Meo-Camuzet’s 2008 Richebourg strikes me as their most obviously tannic wine of the vintage, despite the confitured intensity and plush richness of its black fruits. The effect of wood - whether or not this includes amplification of tannin - comes out here in a flattering way via a maple syrup-like amalgam of resin and caramel. Sweet, decadent floral perfume; brown spices; and crushed stone add palate interest, though the staining concentration of this wine’s finish is at least as yet somewhat undifferentiated and accompanied by gum-numbing intensity of tannin. When racked, this was “explosive" reports Meo, and the metaphor of a bomb sunk into the earth and topped with sandbags does strike me as potentially useful for a Pinot grand cru I would not want to touch for 5-7 years and which seems built to last for more than twice that long. |

WA 92 (5/2011): The 2008 Nuits St. Georges Clos de la Marechale offers up black cherries, sweet spices, flowers and licorice, all of which meld together beautifully in a weightless, impeccably elegant style. Floral, minty notes add complexity and nuance on the refined finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2020. VM 90 (4/2011): Good medium red. Ripe, aromatic nose of dark berries, licorice and flowers, complicated by musky leather and earth nuances. Much sweeter and richer, not to mention refined, than the Clos des Fourches, which is made mostly from younger vines in the Clos. Spice and pepper notes contribute to this wine's juiciness, and a whiff of blood orange adds lift. Finishes long and firm but not dry. Youthfully tight but sexy wine. BH 90 (1/2011): A distinctly earthy and anise-infused mix of sour cherry and blue berry fruit that displays whiffs of crushed herbs and pepper merges into detailed, pure and almost delicate middle weight flavors that possess a sophisticated mouth feel and fine length. I should point out though that while there is no rusticity present, the very firm tannins are not as refined as those of the Fuees. Drink 2016+. |

WA 91-92 (6/2010): Blueberry fruit and citrus oils inform a surprisingly creamy yet also vivacious palate on Ponsot’s 2008 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes, which displays a textural and tannic refinement; near creaminess; as well as bright length reminiscent of - yet going beyond - those exhibited by the corresponding village cuvee. Saliva-inducing salinity and suggestions of chalk add enticing and intriguing mineral dimensions, while star anise, black tea, and peat add a metaphorically dark aspect. This long-lined, energetic, exuberantly-finishing exemplar of its great site ought to be worth following for at least a dozen years. BH 90-92 (1/2010): This is a very ripe yet wonderfully elegant '08 with an expressive and densely fruited nose of cassis and black cherry that introduces rich, full and equally serious flavors that are not as firmly structured as the Alouettes but more seductive and almost as long. This too is a fine effort and despite the high level of ripeness, it loses none of it Chambolle character. Drink 2016+. Outstanding! |

VM 96 (5/2011): The 2008 Clos de la Roche Cuvee Vieilles Vignes is a silky, elegant wine. Freshly cut roses, dark red fruit and minerals sit on a core of utterly refined tannins. This shows stunning balance in a weightless style that gains energy on the clean, focused finish. This is a fabulous effort from Ponsot. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2033. Antonio Galloni. BH 91 (4/2016): There is a subtle but certainly not invisible touch of brett to the otherwise cool, ripe and complex aromas of plum, red and dark berries, earth and plenty of spice nuances. There is both good volume and energy to the well-detailed broad-shouldered flavors that culminate in an edgy and mildly drying finale. It's hard to know how much of the problem with the finish is attributable to the brett as often there is gas when there is brett which causes the supporting tannins to seem more prominent. My score is a compromise as this is not a bad wine but it's obviously not technically perfect. Moreover it's entirely possible that other bottles would show quite differently if there was no brett. I will have to try another bottle to see if the problem is limited to just this bottle or whether it's systemic. Try from 2023+. |

VM 94+ (4/2011): Medium red. Closed but pure nose offers dark berries, minerals, flowers, iron and tobacco. Dense, silky and sweet, with terrific floral lift to the middle palate. A wonderfully aromatic, floral midweight of great finesse. Best today on the very long, subtle finish, which lingers with cherry, spices and flowers. This should evolve at a snail's pace. WA 92-93 (6/2010): Scents of kirsch and almond extract mingle with fresh dark cherry and purple plum in the high-toned, intense nose of Roty’s 2008 Charmes-Chambertin Tres Vieilles Vignes, to which charred meat, marrow, licorice, and peat add complexity that follows on an expansive, almost plush palate. Sizzling pungency of black pepper; hints of caramel from barrel, and persistent black tea and peat-like smokiness serve for both enhanced richness and a degree of enervation. But what one gains in opulence vis-a-vis the Griotte one sacrifices in brightness and a degree of energy. Still, these are early days for this wine sure to be worth following for 15-20 years. |

WA 98 (5/2011): The 2008 Bonnes Mares is a huge, intense wine endowed with tons of fruit, but wrapped around a powerful, focused frame. The tannins are big, but also beautifully integrated. This towering Burgundy will require an extraordinary amount of patience before revealing its true pedigree, but it is clearly magnificent. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2048. VM 93+ (4/2011): Good full medium red. Aromas of wild berries, pepper, smoke and underbrush. Rich, sweet and floral but without quite the energy of the Amoureuses. More powerful on the back end but less subtle and pristine. "Like a big mass today" is the way Roumier describes this large-scaled but rather monolithic wine. This was from riper fruit than most of the other 2008s here: 12.7% natural alcohol, chaptalized to 13.2%. BH 93 (1/2011): (from a 1.5 ha parcel that is roughly divided in .90 ha of terres rouges and .60 ha of terres blanches, the latter of which has the slightly older vines). A background touch of wood spice surrounds red berry fruit, plum and floral notes that include violet and rose, animale and soil tones that continue on the earth-inflected, rich, sappy and moderately concentrated but gorgeously balanced flavors that possess real character and excellent power on the impressively long and youthfully austere finish. This has both style and personality but what really distinguishes it is how complete it is. Drink 2020+. |

BH 90-93 (1/2010): A surprisingly high-toned nose of cranberry and raspberry trimmed in a bit of warm earth introduces very forward yet precise flavors that are quite round and supple yet deliver excellent authority and impressive depth on the balanced and lingering finish. This is not a big example or even especially muscular but it's harmonious and should age well. Drink 2018+. VM 90+ (4/2011): Pale-medium red. Musky cherry, fresh herbs, brown spices and menthol on the nose and palate; more primary than the Mazy-Chambertin. Then sweeter and larger-scaled but backward today and showing a medicinal austerity. I like this wine's intensity of flavor and palate presence. Finishes with a broad, fine dusting of tannins that spread out to saturate the palate and leave the taste buds vibrating. WA 89-90 (6/2010): New leather, black tea, and bright cherry and plum scent Rousseau’s 2008 Clos de La Roche, which comes to the palate bright and with tart chew of fruit skins and smokiness of black tea serving for invigoration in a finish of impressive persistence. Less exuberant and multi-faceted today than the corresponding Mazy, this also displays more aggressive - faintly gum-numbing - tannins than the several wines that preceded it in the present line-up. |

VM 94+ (4/2011): Medium red. Blueberry, minerals and spices on the nose, lifted by notes of rose and white pepper. Pure and silky but with terrific inner-mouth tension to the sappy crushed fruit flavors. Denser than the Latricieres, but every bit as vibrant--and more backward today. Finishes with ripe tannins and subtly complex notes of fruit, game and saline, smoky underbrush. Superb. BH 93 (1/2011): (from a 2 ha parcel that runs from the bottom to the very top of the slope.) A pure, airy and very cool nose of pungent minerality and slightly sauvage red berries is the epitome of aromatic elegance and serves as a graceful introduction to the broad-shouldered and sleekly muscular flavors that possess good freshness and plenty of vibrancy while culminating in an intensely mineral-driven, focused and powerful finish that is wonderfully persistent, linear and extremely tight. This too will need plenty of time to unwind, which I estimate at between 14 to 18 years. Drink 2023+. WA 92+ (6/2010): Cedar, licorice, ripe dark berries, and raw beef mark the nose of Trapet’s 2008 Chambertin. Berry skin tartness and peaty pungency convey invigoration, while pure sweetness of berry fruit and vivid meatiness vie for one’s primary attention. There is a crushed stone note that lends a hint of austerity to otherwise energetically bright and decidedly palate-staining finishing proceedings. Like several of the 2008s here, this may have been suffering a bit from recent bottling as there is a slight sense of constriction where I would otherwise expect the wine to open up more. Still, this is impressive juice with at least 12-15 year potential. |

VM 95 (5/2011): The 2008 Bonnes Mares is totally classy and elegant. It shows gorgeous inner liqueur-like sweetness, expressive aromatics and a rich, textured finish that is a marvel to behold. The sheer depth, density and incisiveness of the fruit is fabulous. Expressive floral notes round out the finish. This is very much an understated Bonnes Mares from de Vogüe. Antonio Galloni. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2048. BH 94 (1/2011): A more deeply pitched nose of cool and reserved red and black cherry aromas that are quite fresh and pure and are laced more with warm earth than stone though both are present. The focused and detailed broad-shouldered flavors are blessed with ample dry extract that cuts a bit of the austerity on the linear, serious, mouth coating and hugely long finish. As is often the case, this is still quite primary and will need plenty of time to unwind. Drink: 2023+ VM 93 (4/2011): Deep red. Briary raspberry, blueberry, mocha and menthol on the nose, lifted by peppery spices; a real essence of this grand cru. Then creamier and larger-scaled than the Chambolle premier cru, with the sweet berry fruit flavors enlivened by the peppery component and savory soil tones on the back. This really tickles the taste buds on the broad, firmly tannic, very long finish. Steph |

| VM 95 (12/2024): The 2023 Pinot Noir Park Avenue Estate is a new wine in this range. It emerges from a parcel in Sebastopol planted with Calera cuttings from UV. Black cherry, leather, incense and graphite open first, followed by lifted floral and savory notes that add character. The Park Avenue doesn't have the layers of the other Pinots, but it comes very close. This is a seriously impressive debut. Antonio Galloni. |

Bright red/purplish fruit, rose petal, lavender, spice and blood orange all soar from the glass. A wine of depth and textural intensity, the 2023 is just magnificent. So aromatic. Bright acids pull it all together on the finish. The UV is the most delicate and refined of the Pinots from Aubert this year. Antonio Galloni. |

| WA 97 (6/2025): Despite GM Shae Kinsman's assertion that "it's not a black-fruit expression that comes out of this vineyard," the Bella Oaks 2022 Proprietary Red Wine offers up what I find to be generous amounts of black cherries and cassis, alongside a faint herbal note. A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot—the blenders come from Ecotone for now, while waiting for recent plantings at Bella Oaks to come online—it's a full-bodied wine, rich and somewhere between velvety and silky, with a long, elegant finish. It shows great intensity and length, with no trace of raisining, although I would call it more dark-fruited than red. |

VM 98 (12/2024): The 2021 Pluribus is just as exceptional as it was from barrel. Complex, dynamic and ever-changing in the glass, the 2021 coveys tons of mountain structure. Graphite, crushed rocks, mint, spice, licorice and lavender are all laced together in a dramatic, dense wine endowed with tremendous pedigree. This site on Spring Mountain yields Cabernets loaded with character. (Drink between 2028-2041). Antonio Galloni. JD 96+ (1/2025): Usually one of the most structured wines in the lineup, the 2021 Pluribus is more medium to full-bodied and elegant, with a terrific perfume of black and blue fruits intermixed with exotic flowers, violets, and graphite nuances. It has a certain exotic edge, is beautifully balanced, has fine tannins, and a great finish. It's another seamless, elegant, very classically built Cabernet Sauvignon from this team that deserves 4-6 years of bottle age and will be long-lived. (Drink starting 2029). |

WA 99 (3/2024): Colgin's 2021 IX Estate is a rich, opulent example, with layers of ripe black cherries and dark chocolate punctuated by hints of sage and bay leaf, plus some vaguely floral notes (violets?). Full-bodied, concentrated, velvety and long, it's another terrific wine that showcases the potential of Pritchard Hill, the investment by the owners and the talent of the winemaking team. Drink between 2025-2045. JD 98+ (12/2023): I’d wager a Napa Valley legend in the making, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon IX Estate comes from the estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill, and if there was ever a classification of terroirs in the valley, this would check in near the top of the list. Deep purple-hued, with awesome aromatics of pure cassis, graphite, crushed stone, and subtle floral hints, this has that rare mix of power and elegance that defines so many great wines. Full-bodied, concentrated, and flawlessly balanced, it has no shortage of structure and is going to need 7-8 years, if not a decade, to hit full maturity, where it will hold for 2-3 decades. Drink between 2023-2031. VM 98 (12/2023): The 2021 IX Estate is such an elegant wine. Sleek, aromatic and refined, the 2021 is one of the most polished young wines I have tasted from this site. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal and mint abound. Silky and delineated, the 2021 is exceptionally beautiful and balanced. Clean saline notes and veins of tannin extend the explosive, sublime finish. Drink between 2027-2041. Antonio Galloni. |

JD 97 (1/2025): Moving to the 2022 Maya, it's the first year since 1989 that has this cuvée includes more Cabernet Franc than Cabernet Sauvignon. (It's 54% Cabernet Franc and 46% Cabernet Sauvignon that spent 20 months in 75% new barrels.) A fabulous nose of darker currants, leafy herbs, violets, camphor, new leather, and flower notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a layered, polished mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a brilliant finish. VM 97 (12/2024): The 2022 Maya is a rare Maya that is Cabernet Franc-driven, the first since 1989 with a similar blend. Pliant and layered, the 2022 is sublime. Dark cherry, plum, new leather, licorice and espresso all build in the glass. A remarkable wine, Maya may very well turn out to be one of the wines of the vintage. It is certainly one of my favorites at this stage and a clear front-runner. Antonio Galloni. WA 96+ (2/2025): Dalla Valle's 2022 Maya is a blend of 55% Cabernet Franc and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, dominated on the nose by scents of dark chocolate and black cherries, plus vaguely leafy notions and hints of dried spices. Tannic and taut, in obvious need of cellaring, this medium to full-bodied wine's tannins are not as deep or richly textural as they can be (as in the 2021, for example), but they remain impressive; and the finish exhibits superb length. The winery's Cabernet Sauvignon is more flattering to taste now, while the Maya may surpass it in time. |

WA 93 (2/2025): Marked by scents of mountain bay, sage and black cherries, Fe's 2022 26 is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 16% Petit Verdot and 6% Malbec, all aged 20 months in approximately 75% new French oak. It's medium to full-bodied and taut yet velvety, with what seems like ample concentration, but it seems to lose impetus on the finish. I have to admit to being (just) slightly disappointed relative to the barrel sample last year. The wine was bottled in June 2024, so perhaps it was still in a bit of a funk when I tasted the bottled wine in November. VM 89 (12/2024): The 2022 26 is a soft, plummy wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, pipe tobacco, leather, incense and dried flowers build nicely into the open-knit finish. (Drink between 2024-2030). Antonio Galloni. |

VM 95 (2/2024): The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is creamy, layered and super-finessed. All the elements are so well balanced. Red cherry/plum fruit, cedar, spice, leather, tobacco and espresso all meld together. This is another wine in the range with superb balance, albeit in the smaller-scale style of the year. VM 97 (12/2023): The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Aphex Ecotone Vineyard is a potent, dense wine. Dried herbs, spice, tobacco and earthy notes lend tons of savory nuance. This wild, structured Cabernet is going to need a number of years to come together. It shows tons of energy and depth, even if all the elements aren't totally in harmony at this stage. Nigel Kinsman has done a tremendous job in taming tannins that can be quite fierce at this site. Time in the glass is especially beneficial here. (Drink between 2027-2041). Antonio Galloni. WA 96 (7/2024): A co-ferment of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc from Ecotone Vineyard, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Aphex is dark and plummy, combining black cherries and some earthy notes with a hint of dark chocolate. It's full-bodied, concentrated and rich yet harmonious, with a degree of elegance, no excess weight on the palate and a lingering, softy tannic finish. |

JD 98 (10/2025): The 16th release of this cuvée, the 2022 No 16 Cumulus Vineyard comes all from the Cumulus Vineyard, which was planted in 2004 around the estate in Oak View. A blend of 78% Petite Sirah, 12.3% Touriga Nacional, 6.7% Mourvèdre, and 3% white varieties, it was fermented with 20% whole clusters and spent 30 months in 36% new French oak. Blackberries, roasted meats, leather, smoke, and iron nuances all flow from this beauty. Full-bodied and balanced, with a deep, layered mid-palate, it's velvety and voluptuous on the palate, with nicely integrated acidity, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This is a big, concentrated, powerful wine that's just about overflowing with character. Give bottles 3-4 years if you can and it should keep for 15+ in cold cellars. Drink 2028-2043. VM 96 (8/2025): The 2022 No. 16 Cumulus Vineyard leads the charge with a healthy proportion of Petite Sirah (78%), most of which is own-rooted, as the Krankls aim to move this cuvée away from Syrah dominance and toward a truer representation of the makeup of their home vineyard. The No. 16 is a monstrous, bombastic wine that's amplified in every dimension. Blackberry preserves, black licorice, star anise, chaparral, French vanilla and powerful peppery nuances saturate the palate with confidence and unashamed opulence. The inclusion of 20% whole clusters across the blend exalts the natural structure of Petite Sirah in a very warm, dry vintage, while the 12.3% Touriga Nacional in the blend provides propulsive, mouthwatering acidity. This could use a couple of years to integrate some of its youthful exuberance. (Drink between 2027-2042). Billy Norris. |

VM 97 (7/2025): The 2023 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse is the most exuberant and packed of these Pinots Noirs from Peter Michael. It is also the wine that made me notice these wines when I tasted the debut 2009s prior to release. Plush contours frame a core of black cherry fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and blood orange. The French oak is already totally integrated, another sign of an important wine in the making. (Drink between 2027-2038). Antonio Galloni. WA 96 (3/2025): The 2022 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse begins with youthful new oak spice that gives way to intense black cherry, cranberry, Earl Grey tea and wildflower aromas. The palate is concentrated yet weightless, its highly perfumed flavors structured by silky tannins and succulent acidity, and it has a long, latent finish. It will benefit from several years in the cellar. 453 cases were made. JD 96 (7/2025): From a cooler, later ripening site in Fort Ross-Seaview, the 2022 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse is a saturated red hue and is lush with a sapid aromatic profile of cherry liqueur, crushed flowers, pine resin, and sappy herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it offers a broader structure, with ripe tannins and darker underpinnings. It’s a richly styled wine but has good clarity. Drink 2026-2046. Audrey Frick. |

WA 96+ (6/2025): A big, muscular wine, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard is loaded with black cherry fruit and graced by hints of dark chocolate and mocha. It's the last vintage to include a smidgeon of Petit Verdot (4%), a full-bodied, richly tannic but ripe effort, with a long, harmonious finish. JD 96 (1/2025): Another wine showing a fresher, juicy style, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard comes from unquestionably one of the finest vineyards in Napa Valley. This deep purple-hued effort offers a lively nose of ripe plums, chocolate, violets, and graphite, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate with fine, nicely integrated tannins, terrific overall balance, and outstanding length. It's a touch more reserved compared to the To Kalon, so give bottles a few years. It should evolve gracefully through at least 2037. |

JD 97 (1/2025): I love the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard, which might be the finest 2022 from this estate. Darker berries, red plums, tobacco, incense, and chocolaty nuances all shine here, and this beauty is full-bodied, has a rich, layered mouthfeel, sweet, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It shows the early pick dates with its fresher, vibrant style yet still brings beautiful depth, richness, and concentration. It will keep for 15+ years. (Drink between 2025-2040). WA 95 (6/2025): The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard incorporates 6% Cabernet Franc into the assemblage. Complex aromas range from cedar, loam and dried spices to restrained black cherries and black olives. It's full-bodied, supple, savory and long, with a slightly tannic edge to the finish. It could be a touch more concentrated, but that's nitpicking at this quality level. VM 92 (12/2024): The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard is supple and juicy, qualities that will be best appreciated on the early side. It offers tons of forward appeal, if not quite the dimension, power of intensity of the best years. There's no way to get past the challenges of the brutal heat here. (Drink between 2025-2032). WA 98 (6/2025): A barrel selection, Realm's 2022 The Absurd boasts compelling aromas of black cherries and red raspberries. It exhibits unusual brightness and lift, while still being full-bodied and richly textured. Sure, it's slightly open-knit, but it's intense, vibrant and characterful, with delicate shadings of violets, stone fruit and spice on the lingering finish. JD 97 (1/2025): As always, the blend of the 2022 The Absurd isn't released, but it's nevertheless a selection of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon from all the sites this team works with. It's in the running for the wine of the vintage and has a deep, saturated purple hue as well as brilliant aromatics of darker currants, plums, smoke tobacco, violets, and incense, and it picks up a lively sense of minerality with time in the glass. Full-bodied, nicely concentrated, with ample mid-palate depth and ripe tannins, it's a rock solid, sure bet of a 2022 that will evolve gracefully for two decades. (Drink between 2025-2045) |

WA 96 (6/2025): Schrader's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Clone To Kalon Vineyard is based on what has become known as Clone 31, about which winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown said, "Commercially nonviable is how I'd describe it—unless you grow it, bottle it and sell it for a lot of money." Scents of black cherries, loam, dried spices and dark chocolate appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is silky-textured and harmonious. It's a terrific wine from a challenging vintage. JD 95 (1/2025): Red and black plums, cassis, spice oak, violets, and incense nuances all shine in the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon To Kalon Vineyard Heritage Clone, a pure, concentrated, elegant To Kalon that's full-bodied, has pure, polished tannins, terrific balance, and a great finish. It's a structured, big, burly wine in 2022 that warrants 2-4 years in the cellar. It should keep through at least 2037. |

It doesn’t get much better in the vintage, and while it has the upfront appeal of the vintage, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it evolve gracefully for upwards of two decades. Schrader's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Monastery Block To Kalon Vineyard offers up compelling scents of dried herbs (thyme?), cassis and perfumed violets on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is concentrated, velvety and perhaps a touch warm; the long finish adds a touch of dark chocolate. |

JD 98 (12/2025): Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 21 months in 67% new French oak, the 2023 Black Magic represents a best barrel selection blend offering vibrant blue fruits, cassis, liquid violets, graphite, camphor, and sappy floral notes. It's incredibly concentrated, with a seamless, ultra-pure, focused mouthfeel and notable freshness and acidity in a seamless, sensational, full-bodied style. It needs 4-6 years of cellaring but will keep for 40 years. Drink 2029-2065. VM 97 (11/2025): The 2023 Black Magic is a blend from Melanson, Vine Hill Ranch and To Kalon. Sumptuous black-toned fruit, gravel, licorice, menthol and chocolate build nicely, growing into a crescendo of aromas, flavors and textures that is truly captivating. It's one of the wines of the vintage at Tor. Antonio Galloni. WA 96-98 (6/2025): A barrel selection made in the winery as always, Tor's 2023 Black Magic looks to be a pretty complete, compelling example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (with perhaps a bit of Petit Verdot). There's an enticing hint of violets to the blackberries and cassis on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is concentrated, structured and firm, with a long, richly textured finish. |

WA 95 (10/2024): In effect a second wine for lots that didn't make the cut for La Proportion Dorée (but approximately 85% Sauvignon Blanc), the barrel-fermented 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Les Petits Morlet boasts plenty of expressive gooseberry aromas and ample citrus zest on the nose, but then has a full-bodied palate. Soft and expansive, it's really generous and luxurious in the mouth but balanced by a tart, lingering finish. JD 94 (6/2024): Displaying a slightly deeper yellow/straw hue, the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Les Petits Morlet is entirely Sauvignon Blanc, although it has the addition of the expressive Musqué clone, which is grown on rocky clay-loam soils. The wine is exuberant at this stage, with a more tropical fruited profile coming through on the nose, along with notes of beeswax, golden pear, white grapefruit, and saline. This continues to the palate, which is medium to full-bodied and reveals more intensity through the palate as well, with notes of melon and a ripe, rounded feel. Drink 2024-2034. 125 cases were produced. Audrey Frick. |

| JD 95 (3/2025): Like a great Pessac-Léognan Blanc, the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc 29 Estate (100% Sauvignon Blanc) offers honeyed lemon, mint, crushed stone, and orange blossom, with hints of toast. Medium to full-bodied, round, fleshy, and textured, it's beautiful, deep, and layered, despite being a touch short on acidity. Drink over the coming 4-6 years. (Drink between 2025-2031) |
