WA 92 (6/2005): The 2003 Syrah All Night Radio (from both the Colson Canyon and Thompson vineyards) reveals Syrah’s alluring acacia flower and blackberry aromas along with an opulent, full-bodied personality with high glycerin, well-concealed alcohol, and loads of fruit, length, and purity. This savory, mouthfilling, well-balanced, personality-filled 2003 will drink well for 5-7 years. WS 88 (2/2005): This is a big, ripe, rich and expressive wine, with dense, high-extract earthy currant, blackberry and wild berry fruit. The tannins are a bit rough-hewn and take on a leathery edge on the finish. Not for the faint of heart. Best from 2006 through 2012. 486 cases made. |

WA 91 (8/2003): The saturated black/purple-colored 2001 The Dreaming Detective Thompson Vineyard offers muted aromas of blackberries, pepper, licorice, chocolate, vanilla, and espresso roast. Playing it closer to the vest than its two siblings, it is a full-bodied, dense, rich, promising effort. Give it 1-2 more years of bottle age, and consume it over the following decade. |

WS 93 (2/2005): Smooth-textured, with a wealth of flavor, offering tiers of raspberry, wild berry, cassis, currant and sage, picking up hints of white pepper, spice and finishing with a long, intricate aftertaste. Drink now through 2010. 198 cases made. WA 92 (8/2004): The 2002 The Fight (100% Syrah from the cool Coombesville site called Richard Perry Vineyard) is an impressive unfined/unfiltered 197-case offering that spent 18 months in 100% new French oak. Boasting an opaque ruby/purple color as well as a big, sweet nose of blackberry liqueur intermixed with licorice, roasted meats, underbrush, and vanilla, it is a big, juicy, backward red that needs 1-2 more years of cellaring. It will drink well over the following decade. |
