VM 92 (3/2016): Opaque ruby. Aromas of fresh dark berries, candied flowers and star anise gain vivacity from a minerally element. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering vibrant black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of cracked pepper. The floral note comes back strong on the subtly tannic finish, which lingers with excellent tenacity. Josh Raynolds. WA 91 (12/2015): Showing beautifully from bottle, the inky, almost opaque 2013 Cornas Granit 30 gives up rocking notes of black raspberries, cassis, crushed violets, green olive and ample black pepper. Medium to full-bodied with excellent concentration, integrated acidity and a great finish, this is classic, old school Cornas done impeccably well. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or more. |

| VM 92-94 (6/2018): (no new oak) Opaque ruby. Potent, mineral-accented dark berry scents are complicated by floral oil and peppery spice nuances. Smooth and seamless on the palate, offering gently sweet black raspberry, blueberry and violet pastille flavors that become livelier with air. Sappy and open-knit, closing with solid thrust, silky, even tannins and strong persistence. Josh Raynolds. |

| JD 91-93 (12/2018): The 2017 Cornas Granit 30 shows a fresher, elegant, polished style as well as perfumed notes of black raspberries, crème de cassis, crushed violets, and hints of bouquet garni. Floral, elegant, and medium-bodied, it's just a pretty, elegant, juicy wine that's going to benefit from short-term cellaring and drink nicely for a decade. |

VM 93 (4/2020): Opaque ruby. Fresh blackberry and cherry scents, along with suggestions of baking spices, olive and pungent flowers. Appealingly sweet black and blue fruit flavors gain energy and spiciness with air while a smoky mineral element adds back-end cut. Even tannins add gentle grip to an impressively long, floral-tinged finish that leaves a spicy note behind. JD 92-94 (12/2019): Moving to the Cornas releases, the 2018 Cornas Granit 30 comes from slightly younger vines and vineyards further down on the slope, closer to the village. Completely destemmed and brought up in used barrels, it offers a complex bouquet of blue fruits, lavender, violets, and sweet incense as well as a medium to full-bodied, rounded, sexy style on the palate that carries lots of sweet fruit that almost hides sound underlying structure. |

JD 93-95 (2/2022): Starting with what could be considered the entry level cuvée, the 2020 Cornas Granit 30 comes from further down the slope, from vines closer to the village. That's obviously not a bad thing, since this plump, full-bodied, beautifully textured Cornas has remarkable purity and elegance as well as richness. Blackberries, blueberries, subtle smoke, graphite, and violets all emerge from the glass, and it has a seamless, incredibly elegant texture. VM 93 (12/2022): Dark violet color. Dark berry preserve, licorice, olive and exotic spice aromas, with a hint of espresso in the background. Sappy and broad on the palate, offering spice-tinged cherry-cola, blueberry and candied violet flavors with a spicy snap of black pepper. The floral note carries through a very long, dark fruit-driven finish, where gently chewy tannins add shape and closing grip. Josh Raynolds. |

VM 94 (4/2020): Saturated violet. Spice-tinged dark berries, potpourri, olive and exotic spices on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy, focused and appealingly sweet, offering densely packed black raspberry, cherry and candied violet flavors supported by a spine of juicy acidity. Gently chewy tannins add grip to an impressively persistent, mineral- and spice-tinged finish that strongly repeats the floral note. Josh Raynolds. WA 95-97 (12/2019): Paris's 2018 Cornas Granit 60 boasts remarkably pure notes of cracked pepper, blueberries and raspberries. Full-bodied, lush and creamy, it perfectly captures the ripe essence of Syrah, then adds a firm grounding of crushed stone and firm tannins on the finish. It should have close to two decades of longevity. JD 94-96 (12/2019): More peppery, granite, and, meaty notes emerge from the 2018 Cornas Granit 60, and it too is full-bodied, beautifully textured, and layered. It's more focused and serious than the fruit-forward Granit 30 and is going to benefit from bottle age. Coming from 50-year-old vines, this cuvee is 70% destemmed and brought up in used barrels. |

| VM 92-94 (1/2025): Juicy grapefruit, orange blossom, red plum, fresh violet and stemmy nuances introduce the 2023 Cornas Granit 60. Rose petal and graphite add more complexity. Built around well-rounded tannins, the 2023 is a full-bodied, seductive Cornas that shines with outstanding purity, freshness and complexity. Drink between 2027-2034. Nicolas Greinacher. |

WA 92-94 (2/2011): The 2009 Cornas La Geynale is off the charts. It could turn out to be one of the finest Cornas ever made. Still backward, intensely primary and unevolved, it is filled with smoky, gamy, animal-like notes intermixed with notions of blackberry fruit, crushed rocks and spring flowers. It requires 5-10 years of cellaring and should drink well for 2-3 decades. VM 91-93 (2/2011): Glass-staining ruby. Expressive, perfumed aromas of blackberry, cherry pit, olive, licorice and bitter chocolate, with a spicy topnote. Chewy and concentrated, but surprisingly graceful for its serious dark fruit preserve sweetness and depth. Finishes with powerful tannins and excellent length and lift. This will be a good cellaring candidate. |

WA 95+ (12/2012): The massive 2010 Cornas La Geynale exhibits a black/purple color along with a beautiful perfume of bouquet garni, smoked meats, blackberries and creme de cassis liqueur. Some floral notes are also present in this huge, over-sized (or is it super-sized?) offering along with tremendous glycerin and intensity. There is plenty of tannin (as one would expect in a 2010), so forget it for 5-6 years and drink it over the following 25. VM 94 (4/2013): Opaque ruby. Smoky, mineral-accented aromas of dark fruit liqueur, incense and floral oils, with an intense spicy topnote. Offers an array of sweet dark berry and floral pastille flavors and becomes sweeter with air. Rich, lively, with superb finishing clarity, supple tannins and lingering floral and spice notes. Very concentrated but lithe, and built to age. |

| JD 94-96 (12/2018): The 2017 Cornas Geynale is the only wine in the lineup to not be destemmed and it comes all from the La Geynale lieu-dit. Deep saturated purple-colored, with beautiful notes of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, earth, pepper, and tons of meatiness, it's certainly the most classic in style, as well as structured and tannic. Give this full-bodied beauty 2-4 years of bottle age and it's going to drink nicely for 10-15 years or more. It's an awesome wine for the true Cornas lovers out there. |

VM 95 (4/2020): Opaque ruby. Highly aromatic aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, incense, exotic spices, violet and a hint of olive. Densely packed and lively on the palate, offering intense dark berry liqueur, floral pastille and salty olive flavors, a hint of smoky minerality and building spiciness. Finishes chewy, focused and extremely long, with mounting tannins lending shape and grip to vivid dark fruit and floral notes. Josh Raynolds. JD 94-96+ (4/2019): The 2018 Cornas La Geynale is largely in the same style as the Granit 60, only with the gamey, bloody and meaty character (as well as tannins) turned up a notch. Black and blue fruits, rare meat, ground pepper, and wild herbs all give way to a structured, tannic wine that has beautiful purity and elegance. It's not for those looking for instant gratification, however. This cuvée comes from a single parcel, is not destemmed, and will see 16 months in 2- to 8-year-old barrels. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to taste the 2017s from Paris. |
