Thursday, April 19, 2018   2011 Bordeaux
The 2011 Bordeaux vintage followed two of the greatest vintages in the region's history, and consequently was largely ignored by consumers - even though there are many charming wines on offer at what are now very reasonable prices. The drinking window for many of the best wines is now firmly open (as a recently-consumed bottle of Cheval Blanc demonstrated), and, frankly, when the wines taste as good as this there really is no reason to delay your enjoyment of them. Please take a few minutes to browse through this list of open-knit, pretty wines, and please get in touch with your questions or needs.

Believing each vintage is unique in its own right, Krankl gives each wine in each vintage a different name, except for the Next of Kyn wines which are sourced exclusively from their own Cumulus Vineyard. We also have a tremendous selection of the various sweet wines produced by Manfred (and Alois Kracher). These extraordinary wines are consistently praised for their rich fruit, elegant structure and stunning balance, and we are delighted to present such an extensive collection for your consideration today.

Thursday, April 12, 2018   Beautiful Barroche Châteauneuf
Jeb Dunnuck: "One of the new superstars of the appellation, Julien Barrot's Domaine la Barroche is fashioning some of the most singular wines in the world." Flickinger Wines has a fantastic selection of Chateauneuf in stock from Julien Barrot of Domaine la Barroche. Widely considered one of the finest young talents in Châteauneuf, Julien has been producing pure, terroir focused wines since he joined the family domain in 2002. While their 15ha of vineyards are spread out across a variety of terroirs, sandy soils predominate and are responsible for the silky textures of these wines. The recent vintages on offer all show the elegant and balanced house style, and are the perfect introduction to this exciting estate. On offer are two of their Châteauneuf cuvées - Signature and Pur. The Signature is a classic blend based on Grenache with a large dollop of Mourvèdre and Syrah to round it out, and an average vine age of 70 years old. This is a perfect introduction to the house style, and spectacularly great value. The Pur comes from a single plot of ancient 100+ year old vine Grenache planted on sandy soils - the purity of this wine is thrilling and it is a must have for any Châteauneuf lover. Also of note here is the Liberty Vin de France cuvée, coming from a high elevation, 65 year old Côte du Rhône parcel that is blended with declassified Châteauneuf juice - this wine far out-classes it pricepoint, don't miss it! If you like large formats (and who doesn't), this offer is for you with magnums, 3.0 and 6.0 liters in abundance. Vintages on offer are from the excellent trio of 2013-15; 2014 is a lovely, approachable vintage withe ample dark fruit flavors that are married to healthy acidity levels - these wines are drinking great now and will continue to do so through the near term. 2013 and 2015 were both low yielding vintages that produced classic, structured, meaty wines that will age beautifully. Take advantage of our inventory and add some of these Southern Rh

Friday, April 6, 2018   Great German Selection
Flickinger Wines has a great trio of Germany's top estates on offer today - Mosel superstar Joh. Jos. Prüm, Rheinhessen icon Klaus Peter Keller, and the remarkable wines of Nahe's Emrich-Schönleber. Prüm of course is the Mosel paragon of classic prädikat level wines, and the selection of mostly 2014s here should not be missed. For fans of dry Riesling, our Keller selection is loaded with both his 'entry level' Trocken Riesling through magnums of his majestic Grosses Gëwachs. Last but not least, Emrich-Schöleber is quietly producing wines of unparalleled quality in the Nahe - producing both prädikat and dry Rieslings, these wines are meticulously made and well worth a place in your cellar. Take advantage of this offer and add these German beauties to you cellar today.
Thursday, April 5, 2018   Clos du Marquis Vertical
On offer today are multiple vintages of Clos du Marquis, the second label (not to be confused with the second wine) of Chateau Leoville Las Cases. The Delon family goes to great pains to make this distinction, and on this occasion it is merited as Clos du Marquis is always made from its own separate parcel of vines that is over the road from the main parcel that goes into Leoville Las Cases (as opposed to other chateaux who claim a second label but who really just make a second wine from vines from the same parcel that goes into their Grand Vin). That is the only difference, however, as all the same winemaking technology, practices and expertise that goes into Las Cases also go into Clos du Marquis – and this helps to make Clos du Marquis one of the best values you can find in Bordeaux today. Just like its bigger brother, CdM is staunchly traditional in style and has firm structure, fresh acidity and great longevity. I would urge you to take advantage of this fine selection to add one of Bordeaux’s most interesting and value-orientated wines to your collection today.

Wednesday, March 28, 2018   Kistler, Kosta Browne Cellar
Kosta Browne is, simply, one of Sonoma and California's leading producers of Pinot Noir. Established in the late 90s by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne (later adding Chris Costello to the partnership), they set out with the aim of producing single-vineyard Pinots (and Chardonnays to a lesser extent) that highlight their individual sites. This they have certainly achieved and more; their wines are some of the most concentrated, bold and structured examples of Pinot Noir that you will find in Sonoma, and this house style has earned them an army of fans throughout the country. Available today is a stellar selection of PInots (plus one Chardonnay) spanning 2006 through 2015 and features many of their single-vineyard offerings in addition to the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley blends. Enjoy! Needing almost no introduction, Kistler Vineyards is synonymous with stellar California Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Founded in 1978, Kistler quickly created a benchmark for high quality wines through meticulous viticultural and winemaking practices. With a focus on classic Burgundian techniques, Kistler uses only natural yeasts and French oak barrels specifically constructed and aged to their requirements; all wines are bottled without fining or filtration. In recent years, the team at Kistler has refocused their methods to retain as much fruit and freshness as they can; this includes harvesting at slightly lower sugars, using a lower percentage of new oak and bottling the wines earlier. The result is the perfect marriage of powerful California fruit and elegant Burgundian finesse; Kistler's wines are full yet focused, with incredible balance and deep, nuanced flavors. Enjoy!

Friday, March 16, 2018   Chateau Musar 1977-2007
Singular and unparalleled, the wines of Chateau Musar are perhaps the most divisive in the wine world. A banner for perseverance and dedication, Chateau Musar was founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930 in Ghazir, Lebanon. His son, Serge, took over the winery in 1959 and became one of the most iconic figures in the wine world, espousing his surprisingly philosophical approach to winemaking and propelling Musar to cult-like status. Sadly, Serge has passed away, but the estate has been left in the capable hands of his sons, Gaston and Marc. Chateau Musar is renowned for creating wines of distinction and uniqueness - each vintage is decidedly individual and it's not uncommon for bottles from the same vintage to have different fill levels. The grapes used in their flagship red are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan. The wines are fermented in separate cement vats and then aged in French barriques for 12 months. After this ageing period, the final blend is determined, according to the strengths and characteristics of each vintage. While the style can vary year to year, Musar wines are perhaps best known for their inclusion of volatile acidity and brett, which gives the wine their distinct (and controversial) "funk". Musar is also renowned for the incredible longevity of their wines, ageing in a captivating journey over decades - in the words of Serge Hochar, "If you give my wines more time, they will give you more joy." Complex, earthy and above all fascinating, these are truly extraordinary wines, and we are thrilled to be able to offer such an extensive collection.
Tuesday, March 13, 2018   Incredible Schrader Selection
Flickinger Wines has a remarkable selection in stock of superstar Napa producer Schrader Cellars. Schrader quickly became a source for some of the Napa Valley's greatest wines since their first vintages in the early 2000's. Focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon, Fred Schrader makes numerous cuvées from the great Beckstoffer Vineyards To-Kalon, George III, Dr. Crane and Las Piedras. Productions levels are quite small, with total production usually less than 1,800 cases. The wines are always big, forward and lush, and generally will drink well early (and age well for decades in top vintages). Flickinger Wines has a very deep verticals from across the Schrader range, including ten vintages of Old Sparky! Take advantage of this offer and add these Napa greats to your cellar today.
