VM 91 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Côte de Léchet 1er Cru, which sees no wood contact, has a pretty, more floral bouquet that opens nicely in the glass with hints of orange pith and persimmon. The palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity. This is quite elegant and nuanced with a dab of peach on the finish. There's some very clever winemaking here and I would be tempted to give it a few years in bottle. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. Neal Martin.
BH 88-91 (10/2024): (from parcels totaling 1.43 ha). A ripe but airy nose reflects the hallmark citrus elements of a quality Côte de Léchet and adequate typicity. The rich, moderately dense and refined middle weight flavors possess good minerality if only average depth and persistence. This is certainly pretty but it’s going to need better complexity to merit the upper end of my predicted range. Drink 2027+ |

VM 90 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru is quite understated on the nose, but it leans toward chalky scents. The palate is peachy on the entry, with sunny, exotic fruit such as guava and pineapple. This is a crowd-pleaser. Maybe it's a Chablis missing the Neal Martin.
BH 89-91 (10/2024): Vaguely exotic aromas include those of white peach, passional fruit, citrus confit, algae and a whiff of quinine. There is even better volume to the caressing and utterly delicious flavors that also possess a seductive texture, all wrapped in a linger bitter zest-inflected finish that could also use better depth. Drink 2027+ |

VM 91 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru has a well-focused, quite animated bouquet that unfolds in the glass with touches of orchard fruit and grassy meadow. The palate is balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This is lightly spiced but just needs a little more tension on the finish. Overall, it's a very well-made Mont de Milieu that should age nicely in bottle. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. Neal Martin.
BH 88-90 (10/2024): (from a parcel of .26 ha). A funky nose of leesy reduction and lactic character. By contrast there is good freshness to the rich, generously proportioned and succulent medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a delicious if somewhat short finish. This should improve once it’s racked but it’s awkward today. Drink 2027+ |

WA 92+ (9/2023): The 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains is a success, unwinding in the glass with notes of white flowers, orange zest, pear and green apple, framed by a deft touch of reduction. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's pure and racy, with bright acids and a chalky finish.
BH 90-93 (8/2023): (from 1.18 ha of vines in Montmains proper). A more floral if less citrus-suffused nose freely reveals its combination of ocean breeze, white orchard fruit and shellfish nuances. The rich and very generous yet nicely refined medium weight flavors also exude a subtle stoniness on the clean and slightly drier finish that offers just a bit more depth, at least at present. This too is lovely with fine potential. Drink 2027+. Outstanding! |

VM 91 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru has a fresh, vibrant and "cool" bouquet with petrichor and apple blossom aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This is elegant in style with subtle peach skin notes that do not impede the terroir expression on the finish. The 2023 is very fine. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. Neal Martin.
BH 88-90 (10/2024): Here too there is a subtle whiff of oak surrounding the aromas of white pepper, petrol, essence of pear and a floral top note. The very supple, round and fleshy medium weight flavors possess just enough punch to avoid being soft while tightening up on the refreshingly dry and clean finale. This too needs depth but a few of bottle aging should help. (Drink starting 2027). |

VM 90 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Vau de Vey 1er Cru, aged 50% in used oak, has a light, fresh apple blossom- and pear-scented nose with hints of pressed white flowers. The palate is well balanced with slightly honeyed citrus fruit and modest weight, though it needs more Neal Martin.
BH 89-91 (10/2024): (from a 3.52 ha parcel aged in 30% wood). A fresh, ripe and expressive nose reflects good Chablis typicity that includes quinine, sea breeze, lemon rind and cool white fleshed fruit. There is fine density to the delicious, intense and solidly voluminous flavors that offer better depth and persistence on the youthfully austere finale. Drink 2028+ |

VM 90 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Envers de Valmur has an intense bouquet with crushed stone and Granny Smith scents on the nose. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity. It's lively and tensile with a satisfying, poised finish. This is a well-crafted Chablis Village. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. Neal Martin.
BH 87-90 (10/2024): A subtle whiff of wood influence easily allows the cool, airy and pretty aromas of shellfish and just sliced citrus to be appreciated. There is both slightly better vibrancy and mid-palate density to the delicious middle weight flavors that also exude a discreet minerality on the youthfully austere, dry and sneaky long finish. (Drink starting 2026). |

BH 90-92 (10/2024): (from a .53 ha parcel planted in 1962 and matured in one third older oak and two-thirds stainless). A cool, pure and airy nose features ripe notes of white flowers, pear, oyster shell, quinine along with a moderate application of wood. The juicy and fleshy medium-bodied flavors are more concentrated with good minerality and power on the sneaky long finish where a touch of bitter lemon appears. This too needs more depth though the underlying material appears to be present for that to occur if given time. Drink from 2029.
VM 90+ (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a competent nose with decent fruit intensity, though it is not the most complex Les Clos that I encountered during my tastings. The palate is much better, with a peachy opening and fine depth. This leans perhaps a little too far to the tropical side of the fruit spectrum on the finish. Then again, it does uphold tension and feels long. Give this a couple of years and keep your fingers crossed that the aromatics up their game. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. | VM 92 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru, vinified in oak barrels with seven months in vat, has a light bouquet with beeswax and cooked apple scents that are quite strict and laconic at the moment. The palate demonstrates ample concentration with a countervailing line of acidity. It's lightly spiced with orange rind and stem ginger. This builds gently toward a very cohesive finish that suggests it will benefit from two or three years in bottle. The 2023 has good potential. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis. BH 91 (10/2024): A restrained nose flashes only a touch of exotic character on the spicy aromas of mostly yellow orchard fruit, apple, iodine and a floral top note. The generous but appealingly punchy middle weight flavors exude evident minerality on the saliva-inducing, balanced and lingering finale. A few years of keeping should help add complexity. |

VM 93 (7/2025): The 2023 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has a composed, delineated bouquet that opens with confidence in the glass, revealing white fruit and crushed stone aromas. It becomes quite malic after three or four minutes. The palate is balanced with a smooth, slightly oily mouthfeel, but not petrolly in any way. It has impressive depth and tension with a twist of orange rind and lemongrass on the finish. This is an involving Vaudésir that should age well in bottle. BH 90-92 (10/2024): (from a .77 ha parcel planted in 1967 and 1987 and matured in 50% 1 to 5-year-old oak and 50% stainless). Moderate but not intrusive wood sets off aromas of both white and yellow peach, lychee, citrus confit and an array of spice nuances while offering just enough Chablis elements to be interesting. The succulent and more concentrated medium-bodied flavors exude more evident minerality on the refined, balanced and lingering finish that, once again, definitely could use better depth. Drink 2029+ |
