| WA 93 (6/2009): The 2006 Finca Dofi is 55% Garnacha and 45% Carinena from estate vines ranging in age from 16 to 23 years. It was aged for 9 months in 80% new French oak. It offers up a more complex bouquet of toasty new oak, lavender, leather, mineral, truffle, black cherry, and blueberry. Layered on the palate with a plush texture, it has excellent depth, succulent flavor, and excellent balance. Surprisingly forward, it will evolve for 2-3 years but can be enjoyed now and over the next decade. |

| VM 93 (12/2001): Saturated deep bright ruby. Wild, slightly reduced aromas of black raspberry, bitter chocolate, smoked meat and tar; shows a porty nuance without coming across at all raisiny. Very dense and thick but sappy and vibrant, with highly complex fruit, game and torrefaction flavors and a complicating suggestion of gun metal. Offers uncanny depth for the year, and terrific finishing flavor. Seems riper and sweeter today than a barrel sample I tried a year ago. Stephen Tanzer. |
