WA 94 (4/2022): The 2019 Malescot St. Exupery is generous and expressive, bursting with aromas of cassis, cherries and blackberries mingled with hints of loamy soil, dark chocolate and espresso roast. Full-bodied, broad and muscular, its fleshy core of fruit is framed by succulent acids and ripe, powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This will reward a bit of bottle age with flamboyant drinking. JD 94 (4/2022): The 2019 Château Malescot Saint Exupéry has an almost old-school vibe in its cedary, herbal, meaty, almost gamey aromatics, but it has beautiful purity in its both black and blue fruits. Medium to full-bodied, on the palate, it's nicely concentrated, has building tannins, good mid-palate density, and a great finish. I don't think it matches the 2016 and 2018, but it's a seriously good Margaux that already offers pleasure. It won't hit maturity for another 7-8 years but should have a lengthy drinking plateau. (Drink starting 2029). VM 91+ (2/2023): The 2019 Malescot St. Exupéry has a more exotic bouquet than its peers, with black plum, cassis and light violet aromas bursting from the glass. Extrovert. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, fleshy and nubile, quite succulent with cassis and blue fruit towards the slightly herbaceous finish. I feel that this bottle needs more time to show the potential it has displayed previously, hence the plus-mark against my score. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. (Drink between 2026-2045). Neal Martin. |

JS 97 (12/2022): Lots of blackcurrants and blueberries on the nose, together with walnuts and chocolate. Full-bodied and very layered, with super depth and plushness, offering currant, crushed-stone and bitter-chocolate flavors. Very lush for this wine, but velvety and structured at the same time. Needs four to six years of bottle age. Try after 2027. VM 95 (2/2023): The 2020 Malescot Saint Exupéry is absolutely gorgeous. Deep and silky (that is not a typo) Malescot shows a level of finesse that is truly remarkable. There is still plenty of textural intensity, but also greater elegance than in the recent past. Succulent dark cherry, plum, licorice, incense and blood orange all run through this wonderfully sumptuous, expressive Margaux. Give this a few years in bottle. Superb. Antonio Galloni. JD 94+ (3/2023): Beautiful cassis, smoky oak, graphite, blackberries, and scorched earth notes emerge from the 2020 Château Malescot Saint Exupéry, another incredibly impressive wine from Margaux in the vintage. With medium to full-bodied richness, it has plenty of mid-palate depth, the building, firmer tannins of the vintage, fabulous purity of fruit, and a great finish. Hide bottles for 4-5 years and enjoy over the following 15-20 years. WA 95-97 (5/2021): Sporting a deep purple-black color, the 2020 Malescot St. Exupery prances out of the glass with showy scents of ripe black and red currants, black cherries, raspberry leaves and ground cloves, plus wafts of lilacs and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating black and red fruit layers with a firm, grainy texture and well-balanced acidity, finishing on a lingering fragrant-earth note. |

JD 92-94 (4/2026): A serious, fruit-forward wine, the 2025 Château Malescot Saint Exupéry is showing a lot of oak at the moment, yet it still brings beautiful purity of fruit. Ripe red and black fruits, spicy oak, graphite, and smoky, tobacco-like nuances all define the aromatics, and on the palate, it's medium-bodied, with a pure, layered mouthfeel and ripe tannins. I suspect it's going to integrate its oak over the course of its élevage and will be an outstanding wine. VM 93-95 (4/2026): The 2025 Malescot Saint Exupéry is classic Malescot—dark, powerful and quite brooding. Dark-toned fruit, gravel, incense, licorice, tobacco and dried herbs are delineated with serious concentration and pure, unbridled power. This backward, massively tannic Margaux is a wine for readers who can be patient. Antonio Galloni. WA 92-94 (4/2026): A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, the 2025 Château Malescot St. Exupéry offers up aromas of sweet blackberries, plums, pencil shavings and licorice. Medium- to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a sun-kissed core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins, it's a dramatic, generous, crowd-pleasing style of Margaux. JA 89 (4/2026): Deep and intense plum colour, grilled sandalwood and cedar, dried oregano and cranberry fruit, with firm tannins that offer Left Bank architecture but the acidity needs to soften further.
