| WA 74 (9/1995): The last several times I tasted this wine it exhibited considerable dilution, seemed disjointed, and perhaps heat damaged. None of it came from my cellar. In the most recent tasting, the wine appeared at the end of its useful life. The color revealed considerable amber. The nose offered roasted herb notes but very little fruit. Perhaps this was not the finest example available, but earlier tastings have consistently revealed a light-bodied, uninspiring wine. Drink it up. |

WA 90 (5/2011): A sleeper of the vintage, this is a pure sexpot of a Margaux with lots of spring flower, jammy black cherry, black currant, graphite and smoky characteristics. With loads of fruit, a round, opulent texture and Outstanding purity, this up-front, evolved, classic, medium to full-bodied Margaux can be enjoyed now and over the next 10-15 years. VM 90 (8/2011): Medium red-ruby. Black cherry, dark chocolate and a leathery nuance on the nose. Sweet, dense and fine-grained, with a fairly plush texture to its nicely concentrated black fruit and licorice flavors. At once pliant and firm, finishing with toothdusting tannins and very good persistence. |

WA 93 (12/2011): The soft, sexy 2009 exhibits a dense plum/purple color along with a big, sweet bouquet of raspberries, black cherries, black currants, smoke and forest floor. Opulent and round with an attractive viscosity as well as Outstanding purity, depth and length, it should drink well for two decades. While not one of the longest lived wines of the vintage, it is among the most precocious, flattering and charming at present. JD 93 (1/2018): Muscular and dense with a velvety and layered mouthfeel. Full-bodied, round and beautiful. Juicy. Currant and chocolate. Drink now. JS 93 (1/2019): Muscular and dense with a velvety and layered mouthfeel. Full-bodied, round and beautiful. Juicy. Currant and chocolate. Drink now. VM 92 (3/2019): The 2009 Prieure-Lichine was one of the pleasant surprises of this blind tasting, a Margaux that has improved in recent years. It has a superb, very Pauillac bouquet with graphite infused black fruit that is very well defined and neatly integrated with the new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, very well balanced with quite saline and very persistent finish. Superb. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. Neal Martin. |

| JD 93 (3/2021): The 2018 Château Prieure-Lichine is terrific and certainly a step up over past vintages. Pure black and blue fruits, spring flowers, violets, and cedarwood notes all emerge from the glass, and it's medium to full-bodied, elegant and nicely focused on the palate, with a solid sense of freshness and purity. With moderate tannins, terrific overall balance, and outstanding length, it's a beautiful wine. It already offers pleasure with a decant yet should hit prime time in 4-5 years and keep for 15-20 years. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, brought up in 45% new French oak. |

| JS 93-94 (6/2020): Dense and layered red with blueberry and currant aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied, focused and intense. Nice balance of fruit and tannins. Curious to see if 2019 will be better than the 2018 in the end. |

JD 93-95 (4/2026): Cassis, liquid violets, graphite, and spicy wood all shine on the nose of the 2025 Château Prieuré-Lichine, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a concentrated, nicely balanced mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It plays in the focused, seemingly fresher style of the vintage yet shows the riper side of Margaux while still being beautifully balanced and textured. VM 92-94 (4/2026): The 2025 Prieuré-Lichine is terrific. I won't be surprised if it turns out even better than this note suggests. Floral overtones weave through a core of dark red/purplish fruit, all framed by silky tannins. This is classic Prieuré-Lichine, with perhaps a bit more fruit density than most years. A pretty appealing combination in my book. Antonio Galloni. WA 91-93 (4/2026): The 2025 Prieuré-Lichine reveals a vibrant bouquet of dark wild berries, mulberries, cassis and floral notes. Medium- to full-bodied, fleshy and dense, it’s structured and concentrated, built around a solid tannic chassis that carries through to a long, elegantly spicy finish. Less immediately charming and enveloping than usual, it instead emphasizes depth and power. JA 94 (4/2026): Rich and balanced, luscious texture, this is bright and vivid with energy and forward motion, with the high fragrant aromatics of the Margaux appellation. Offers Left Bank width with the liquorice and slate, coupled with the firm tannins of the vintage, 3.53pH. Harvest September 8 to 23. 30% new oak, 70% one year old barrels, Derenoncourt Consultants. Yield 28 hl/ha. |
