| VM 94 (2/2020): The 2016 Barolo is a powerful, deep wine that is going to need time to soften and further open up. Black cherry, plum, spice, leather, dried herbs and menthol infuse the 2016 with notable aromatic depth as well as a palpable sense of brooding, virile intensity to match its classically built, mid-weight structure. This is an especially potent vintage for the straight Barolo, and there is clearly so much going on in the glass; it is a superb wine in the making. The Barolo is a blend of 80% Berri and 20% Rocche dell'Annunziata. (Drink between 2021-2031). Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 91 (10/2021): The 2017 Barolo is a pretty dense wine from proprietor Nicola Oberto. I am used to seeing a bit more finesse and transparency here, but the 2017 is quite a powerhouse. Large-grained tannins add to that impression. Time in the glass brings out hints of spice and tobacco, and yet the 2017 remains a bit rough around the edges. Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 93 (1/2023): The 2019 Barolo Berri is tightly wound and austere in the early going. Crushed red berry fruit, iron, dried herbs and white pepper give the Berri a striking aromatic top register. The tannins are a bit nervy, though, so a few years in bottle are warranted. Frost decimated the crop at Torriglione, which is why this wine (typically the Barolo del Comune di La Morra) is Berri in 2019. To be exact, there is 4% Torriglione, as that was the wine used for topping. (Drink between 2025-2037). Antonio Galloni. |

VM 96 (1/2025): The 2020 Barolo Berri is the bomb. Rich, racy and explosive, the 2020 Berri remains one of the very best wines in this young estate's history. It has started to close down a bit, especially in its aromatics, but its purity of fruit—the quality I have always admired most—is still very much present. What a wine! (Drink between 2026-2038). JD 93 (5/2024): Tasted from the bottle, the 2020 Barolo Berri is a ripe ruby color and is fruity on the nose, with black raspberries, fresh lavender, candied orange, and wet stones. It has a rounded feel on the palate, with ripe tannins and offers a more immediate feel. It’s gorgeous now but also has a great mineral backbone and the freshness and elegance to age gracefully. This approachable red is going to drink well over the next 12-15 years. Audrey Frick. |
