VM 92 (12/2022): The Bastardo Quatro Pipas, a blend of four barrels, is soft, creamy and wonderfully inviting. There are no hard edges or angular contours here. Crushed dried flowers, cedar, leather and a gentle hint of spice all meld together in this immensely pleasing, sensual Madeira. This quirky, exotically floral Madeira from the nearly-extinct Bastardo is compelling and full of personality. This is the 2021 bottling. (Drink between 2022-2032). Antonio Galloni.
