| VM 92 (2/2019): Burlotto's 2015 Barolo is absolutely gorgeous. Pliant and open-knit, the straight Barolo captures all of the natural richness of the vintage. Succulent red cherry, plum, lavender, rose petal, spice and new leather all meld together in a supple, inviting Barolo that will be impossible to resist in its youth. This is such a beautiful and alluring wine. The base of the Burlotto Barolo is built on Breri, which is adjacent to Monvigliero, plus the portions of Rocche dell' Olmo and Neirane that don't make it into the Acclivi. This is a positively stellar wine. Don't miss it. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 93 (6/2021): The Comm. G.B. Burlotto 2017 Barolo (showing some of the gold medals and awards won for past vintages in the artwork depicted on the front label) offers a traditional and time-honored approach to Nebbiolo. It draws its fruit from various sites in Verduno. This is a soft and pliant expression that produces a long and fine succession of wild cherry, blue flower, crushed stone and anise-like aromas. You might also notice some rusty iron or candied apricot. This is a solid Barolo (with 10,000 bottles released) that vaunts a classic and traditional personality despite the hot vintage. JD 93 (5/2021): The 2017 Barolo has soft floral aromatics of raspberry candy, fennel, and orange peel. The palate is medium-bodied, ripe and energetic, with cranberry, cinnamon, and peach as well as fine but present tannin. This is a wonderful entry wine from Burlotto. Drink 2021-2036. Audrey Frick. VM 91 (2/2021): The 2017 Barolo is gorgeous. Beautifully perfumed and lifted, the 2017 is pure class. Sweet red berry fruit, crushed flowers, mint, spice and orange peel are all nicely lifted in this silky, mid-weight Barolo. Drink it over the next decade. The is a blend from Breri, Rocche dell' Olmo and Neirane, with a bit less Breri than normal, because the lower portions of the vineyard were affected by frost. (Drink between 2022-2032). Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 89 (2/2022): The 2018 Barolo is aromatic, gracious and light on its feet. Sweet dark cherry, lavender, rose petal, mint, spice and sage are nicely delineated in this ethereal, gracious Barolo. Drink it over the next decade or so. The classico is built on a core of Breri, plus pieces of the other sites that don't make it into the Acclivi. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 96+ (7/2020): Opening to rich darkness and intensity, the 2016 Barolo Acclivi shows vibrant energy. This wine represents a blend of fruit from across various vineyard sites, including old vines in Monvigliero, Neirane and Rocche dell’Olmo. The wine shows dark fruit, smoked bacon, the same pepper spices we got with the Pelaverga and crushed flowers. The wine shows stems and bramble, although they are not green or astringent. A better descriptor would be spice, cinnamon and unripe cherry. VM 96 (6/2023): Burlotto’s 2016 Barolo Acclivi, from vineyards in Verduno, offers a captivating mix of rose petal, cinnamon, lavender and blue/purplish fruit. The aromatics alone are beguiling for their exotic complexity, but everything about the 2016 is so appealing. Although a young wine with plenty of life ahead, the 2016 Acclivi is absolutely exquisite right now. Antonio Galloni. |

| JD 95 (5/2021): The Barolo Acclivi is only produced in the best vintages from a selection of the oldest vineyards located in Verduno of Monvigliero, Neirane, Rocche dell’Olmo, and Boscatto. The 2017 offers pure aromas of ripe cherry, dried earth, and rose petals. Within its refinement there is noble structure, with pomegranate pith, tea leaf, and dried herbs. Drink 2024-2040. Audrey Frick. |

| VM 92 (2/2022): The 2018 Barolo Acclivi is a Verduno blend from Monvigliero, Neirane and Rocche Olmo. Creamy and layered in the glass, with terrific persistence and fine balance, the Acclivi is an absolute delight in 2018. Red/purplish berry fruit, rose petal, spice, lavender and macerated cherry build nicely over time. The Acclivi is sometimes overlooked in this range, which is a shame as it is a terrific wine. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 95+ (6/2022): Here's an exciting new addition to the growing Comm. G.B. Burlotto family of wines. The 2018 Barolo Castelletto opens to a soft and delicate inner core that is framed by wild cherry, licorice and rose. The wine is beautifully tapered and streamlined on the palate, with very polished and silky tannins. It is great taste to this effort by the "King of Verduno," (a.k.a. proprietor Fabio Alessandria) and the structured fruit from Monforte d'Alba. VM 94 (2/2022): The 2018 Barolo Castelletto is a new wine in this range from a parcel plant in 1973. It opens with soaring aromatics that then reappear on the palate in the wine's broad, ample feel. Sage, mint, leather, plum, lavender tobacco and espresso build in a sensual, aromatically beguiling Barolo that captures all of the pedigree of this Monforte site. Fabio Alessandria told me he was intrigued to try his hand making wine from a new site and village, hence the family's decision to buy this parcel in Monforte rather than bolstering their holdings closer to home. The debut vintage is certainly impressive. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 100 (2/2017): Burlotto's 2013 Barolo Monvigliero is simply magnificent. In many vintages, a young Monvigliero can come across as disjointed, especially in the aromatics and the pungent, savory notes can be overpowering. Not in 2013. All the elements are in perfect balance. A wine of soaring aromatic intensity, pedigree and class, the 2013 is thrilling from the very first taste. Rose petal, lavender, violet, spice, orange peel, white pepper and cinnamon are some of the many notes that infuse the super-expressive finish. All of Burlotto's 2013 Barolos are exceptional. But the Monvigliero, well, it enters the realm of the deeply moving. It is a wine that will leave readers weak at the knees. Antonio Galloni. WA 97+ (6/2018): The 2013 Barolo Monvigliero is indeed a special wine that excels in terms of elegance and ethereal momentum. It's impossible to ignore its charm and seductive powers. This wine was released one year ago, but the folks at Comm. G.B. Burlotto preferred not to send samples for review at that time. I was able to taste this beautiful wine during my visit to the estate this year. This vintage of Monvigliero glides smooth and high over the senses, imparting fine notes of cassis, wild berry and anise seed. There is a lasting note of white truffle with tangy ginger and rhubarb. The wine offers volume and largess in the mouth with substantial textural fiber. The bright acidity adds energy and zest to the finish. This wine dances with the grace and muscle of a centerstage ballerina. JS 93 (2/2017): Fascinating aromas of crushed cherries, strawberries and sandalwood follow through to a full body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Very pretty wine. Finesse here. Drink or hold. |

VM 98 (2/2019): The 2015 Barolo Monvigliero is a wine of pure and total seduction. The warm vintage has filled out the wine's frame beautifully. The interplay of ripe, succulent 2015 fruit and aromatic intensity from the whole clusters yields a positively stunning, breathtaking wine of the very highest level. Once again, Burlotto's Barolo Monvigliero takes a place among the most compelling wines of the vintage. Readers who can find it should not hesitate! Antonio Galloni. WA 97 (6/2019): I mentioned that slightly wild side of Verduno in a previous review for Comm. G.B. Burlotto. For further clarity on this point, put your nose into the beautiful 2015 Barolo Monvigliero. This is a subdued and graceful wine that grows in intensity the longer it stays in the glass. The wine offers blue flower aromas with violets, wild rose, cumin seed, saffron and crushed mineral. This wine plays its best cards when you focus on the smallest details, and then suddenly, those tiny brush strokes explode into a big-picture, panoramic view of one of the most celebrated vineyard sites in Barolo. JS 94 (11/2019): The swirling, aromatic nose is entrancing here. The flowery charm is undeniable and the palate has an ethereal frame of fine tannins, carrying beautifully defined, ripe red-cherry flavor. The use of whole clusters works very well here, adding life and lift to this riper vintage. This is a beautiful 2015. Drink or hold. |
