Bouquet Garni Syrah  |

VM 93 (8/2016): The 2012 Syrah Bouquet Garni, from a site in Bennett Valley, is deep, powerful and explosive, with huge fruit and terrific overall intensity. Black cherry, plum, spice, lavender and sage are front and center. Voluptuous, racy and ripe, the Bouquet Garni offers notable intensity from start to finish. Wilder, gamier notes develop with time in the glass. This is a super-classic Luc Morlet wine built on power and intensity. Antonio Galloni. WA 96 (12/2014): Luc Morlet further demonstrates his genius with his Syrah called Bouquet Garni from Bennett Valley, which is bottled without fining or filtration. There are only around five barrels (125 cases) of this 100% Syrah that tastes like it includes some Viognier in the blend (because of the floral and lavender notes). The 2012 Syrah Bouquet Garni offers up fabulous notes of black truffles, lavender, roasted herbs, graphite, blackberries and meaty charcuterie. Other than a handful of Syrahs from Sine Qua Non, this French-tasting Syrah is the closest thing I have tasted to Guigal’s famous Côte Rôtie La Landonne. Drink this sensational Syrah over the next 10-15 years. |

WA 97+ (12/2012): The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Coeur de Vallee is laced with freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries and mint. Weightless and crystalline, the 2010 is pure silk and finesse. The Coeur de Vallee is always the most elegant of Morlet’s Cabernets, and the 2010 plays true to type. Sweet floral notes add lift on the finish. The 2010 is gorgeous today, but it needs a few years in bottle to blossom fully. This is yet another tremendous wine from Luc and Jodie Morlet. The 2010 is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. VM 94+ (6/2013): (blended with 24% cabernet franc): Bright medium ruby. Lovely violet lift to the intense aromas of cassis, licorice and bitter chocolate, complicated by sexy mocha and earth tones; a real essence of Oakville. Wonderfully plush and sweet in the mouth, with captivating minty lift to the pliant dark raspberry and spice flavors. Finishes very long, with noble, rising tannins that coat the teeth. An Outstanding and very suave wine in the making: I love the cabernet franc element here. |

JD 98 (6/2018): The 2014 Morlet Estate comes from the western foothills just north of St. Helena and is 99% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a Pauillac-like austerity as well as awesome notes of black fruits, graphite, lead pencil shavings and loamy soils. Fresh, focused, full-bodied and powerful, this classic, structured Cabernet Sauvignon needs 2-4 years of bottle age but will have 20-25 years of overall longevity. I loved these latest releases from Luc Morlet and family, and they show a sensational mix of classic, balanced, even old-school, characters mixed with killer California fruit. As a whole, the 2014s show more elegance and complexity, with the 2015s possessing more power and richness. These are rockstar wines. WA 95 (10/2016): The five cuvées of Bordeaux varietals in 2014 include the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from his vineyard in St. Helena. This wine exhibits loads of chocolate, crème de cassis, pain grillé and camphor in a full-bodied, Pauillac-inspired style. It is rich, with silky tannins and a long finish. Drink it over the next 20-25 years. VM 94 (3/2017): The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate is laced with the essence of dark stone fruit, chocolate, menthol, dark spices and licorice. The new oak and torrefaction signatures are a bit more present this year than they are in some other vintages. It will be interesting to see how the oak character integrates over time. VM 98 (7/2018): The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Morlet Estate is an absolutely gorgeous wine that captures all the personality and pedigree of St. Helena's Northern Corridor. Bright red cherry, red plum, mint and rose petal notes give the 2015 its signature brightness and aromatic lift. Rich and resonant on the palate, but distinctly medium in body, the Morlet Estate is pure class. A rush of red-toned fruit builds into the beautifully persistent finish. This is one of the most distinctive Cabernets in Napa Valley. The purity of the flavors is striking. (Drink between 2020-2040). Antonio Galloni. JD 96+ (6/2018): More masculine, backward, and austere, with a Chateau Latour-like character, the 2015 Morlet Estate gives up darker fruits, crushed rock, and ample lead pencil-like notions to go with a full-bodied, concentrated, structured feel on the palate. With building tannin and obvious minerality, it’s going to handsomely reward patience. I loved these latest releases from Luc Morlet and family, and they show a sensational mix of classic, balanced, even old-school, characters mixed with killer California fruit. As a whole, the 2014s show more elegance and complexity, with the 2015s possessing more power and richness. These are rockstar wines. WA 95+ (10/2017): Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Morlet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has expressive red currant and black currant notes over hints of cedar chest, bay leaves, tobacco leaf, anise and fertile loam. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with bright, intense red and black fruit layers, supported by fantastically ripe grainy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and toasty. |

WA 98 (10/2024): Morlet's 2022 Chardonnay Coup de Coeur—a barrel selection of just 245 cases—features enticing fruit scents of white peach and pineapple on the nose. In the mouth, it's full-bodied and plump but balanced, fresh and almost zesty on the finish—a compelling illustration of flavor intensity without excess weight. The step up in quality seems more pronounced in this vintage than in 2021. JD 98 (6/2024): Pouring a clear medium yellow hue, the 2022 Chardonnay Coup De Coeur is a selection of the finest barrels and is exclusively made from old Wente vines. On the nose, it boasts a layered and spiced profile, with white pepper, lime blossom, white peach, and melon. The palate is luxurious and supple, with a medium to full-bodied frame that has a fantastic, silky texture and a long, outstanding finish with lasting notes of almond and citrus pith. | JD 98 (7/2025): A slightly deeper bright yellow hue, the 2023 Chardonnay Coup De Coeur is a selection of the best barrels and is entirely made from Old Wente selection. It’s focused on the nose with notes of lime oils, delicate flinty crushed stones, tarragon, green apples, and a fresh savory feel, with its delicate backing spice and oak spice framing the wine gently. It’s full-bodied and feels focused and linear in this vintage, with vibrant acidity weaving through the wine. It has a supple texture and a long, expressive feel, with mouthwatering, fantastic length through the finish. A step up, this incredible and complete wine floats away slowly, with a stony texture tying things together. Drink 2026-2038. Audrey Frick. |

WA 98+ (12/2019): Luc Morlet has 100 Muscadelle vines, planted in 1953, which he co-ferments with the Sauvignon Blanc to produce this stunning wine. The 2017 La Proportion Doree is composed of 65% Semillon, 34% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle. It needs a little coaxing to reveal notes of candied citrus peel, lemon curd, white peaches, honeycomb and fresh hay with wafts of lime leaves and chalk dust. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely coated with savory, saline and citrus layers. The texture is decadently satiny with a provocative suggestion of phenolic grip, and it finishes with great persistence and poise. JD 98 (6/2019): Checking in as 65% Semillon and 34% Sauvignon, from dry farmed vines in Sonoma County, the 2017 La Proportion Dorée was barrel fermented with the malolactic fermentation blocked. This is a big, blockbuster styled effort that offers a huge nose of spiced apples, quince, candle wax, and white flowers that develops beautifully with time in the glass. Rich, full-bodied, and concentrated on the palate, yet at the same time displaying bright acidity and beautiful purity, this is a serious effort that would give a top vintage of Haut Brion Blanc a run for its money! Drink it any time over the coming decade! (Drink between 2019-2029). VM 95 (1/2020): The 2017 La Proportion Dorée is a real standout. Rich, unctuous and utterly dazzling in its complexity, the 2017 is impressive right out of the gate. The depth and dimension here is simply compelling. Orange confit, apricot, chamomile and dried flowers all meld together in a succulent, creamy Sémillon/Sauvignon Blanc blend. The 2017 is a blend of fruit from Knights Valley, Bennett Valley, Dry Creek, Alexander Valley and Calistoga. It is a fabulous edition of the Proportion Dorée. Don't miss it. | JD 96 (7/2025): The 2023 Chardonnay Ma Douce comes from a site in the Fort Ross-Seaview appellation on Goldridge soils, closer to the ocean and above the fog line. Unfiltered, it has a youthful and slightly hazy bright yellow color and is lifted with fresh flint, salted pineapples, preserved citrus, and fresh honeysuckle. The palate is full and elegant, with refreshing, ripe acidity. While it has decadence, it’s light on its feel and, especially in this vintage, has a floating feel with notes of pure vanilla bean that last on the finish. Drink 2025-2035. Audrey Frick. |

| JD 97 (7/2025): Named after Claire, Luc’s daughter, who has now become a part of the winery as of this year, the 2023 Chardonnay Ma Princesse also has a hazy bright yellow hue and comes from the Ritchie Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Made entirely from old Wente clone, it’s a pure white with a darker hint of delicate reduction, a smoky, stony feel, and notes of ripe apples, melon, orange blosssom, and sherbet. It’s long on the palate, with a full-bodied feel, and has a deeper, mouthwatering mineral persistence. It has the stylistic decadence you come to expect from Morlet, but it has a long mineral feel.
