JD 98 (5/2023): Another killer wine, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La BAM sports a dense purple hue as well as mineral-driven aromatics of black fruits, graphite, liquid violets, and crushed stone. It's full-bodied and has flawless balance, fine-grained tannins, and a stunning finish. This has closed up slightly since release, and while it clearly offers pleasure today, it's going to benefit from another 3-5 years of bottle age. (Drink starting 2026). VM 95 (1/2021): The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Bam marries the natural power of this site with rich, dense fruit that nearly buries the tannins. Macerated red cherry, cinnamon, leather, spice and rose petal build in a bold, sumptuous Cabernet endowed with terrific persistence and tons of underlying structure. La Bam shows the more sensual, curvy side of the year. (Drink between 2024-2038). Antonio Galloni. WA 95 (11/2020): The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Bam is a little closed and broody to begin, slowly opening to offer glimpses at earthy notes of tar, tilled soil and black truffles over a core of crème de cassis, cast-iron pan, baked blackberries, sautéed herbs and fruitcake plus a touch of espresso. Full-bodied, the palate has a rugged frame of grainy tannins and just enough freshness supporting the concentrated, muscular fruit, finishing long and savory. |

| WA 100 (10/2018): The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad has a very deep purple-black color and reveals slightly subdued, youthful notes of crushed blueberries, warm black cherries and mulberries with hints of blackcurrant cordial, stewed black tea, wilted roses and fragrant soil. Wow—the palate explodes with very primary yet incredibly exciting, densely packed muscular black fruits, framed with a brick house of super ripe tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and incredibly cerebral. Yes, yes, yes! |

WA 94 (10/2014): The sensational 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The O.G. boasts classic notes of crème de cassis, licorice, incense and a whiff of new oak. Full-bodied with ripe tannin, adequate acidity and beautiful exuberance and personality, it should be drunk over the next 10-15 years. VM 93 (12/2014): The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The O.G. is the most delicate, layered and silky of Mark Carter's three Cabernets from Andy Beckstoffer's To-Kalon vineyard. Floral, lifted and precise, the O.G. captures the essence of Clone 337 in its silky fruit and open, caressing personality. All the elements are very nicely balanced. Antonio Galloni. |

| WA 95-98 (12/2015): The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The O.G. is another killer for Carter in this vintage. It might be just below the profound concentration and depth of the 2013, but this is certainly going to be an upper-90-point wine when released. Amazing cassis, blackberry and floral notes followed by a full-bodied, velvety textured, super-rich and concentrated wine that is a stunner. This is first-growth quality that is unreal. It should drink well for 20 years, even in a more precocious vintage like 2014. |

JD 100 (5/2023): I thought the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The O.G. was a perfect wine when I tasted it on release, and I continue to hold that belief. Pure perfection in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, it has a magical bouquet of crème de cassis, darker currants, iron, tapenade, violets, and chocolate that gives way to a full-bodied, deep, concentrated, powerful 2016 displaying the vintage's pure, focused, utterly classic style front and center. Give bottles another 3-4 years, count yourself lucky, and enjoy this legendary To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon over the following 3+ decades. WA 99 (10/2018): Very deep purple-black in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The O G struts a very seductive nose of opulent crème de cassis, blueberry pie, mulberries and plum preserves notions with touches of chocolate-covered cherries, aniseed, sandalwood and unsmoked cigars plus hints of menthol and smoked meats. Full-bodied, concentrated and wonderfully decadent in the mouth, it completely coats the palate with black fruit preserves plus loads of spice box and savory layers, framed by firm yet velvety tannins and finishing with epic persistence. Yum! VM 96 (12/2018): The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The O.G. is the most sensual and voluptuous of the Carter To Kalon Cabernets. A wine with no hard edges and plenty of curves, the 2016 will drink well with minimal cellaring. Chocolate, espresso, plum and crème de cassis lead into a potent finish laced with the floral overtones that are typical of 337 Clone Cabernets. The O.G. is a terrific example of Mark Carter's style at its best. Antonio Galloni. |

JD 98+ (5/2023): As with the other 2018s, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The O.G. is pure brilliance in Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Violets, graphite, lead pencil, and floral notes, as well as a core of darker, almost blue fruits, define this incredible wine. Full-bodied on the palate, it has flawless balance, remarkable purity, lots of tannins, and a great finish. It offers pleasure today yet deserves another 2-4 years in the cellar. (Drink starting 2025). VM 97 (1/2021): The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard The O.G. is a fabulous example of To Kalon. Powerful, deep and concentrated, yet with exquisite depth, the 2018 has so much to offer. Crème de cassis, leather, sweet pipe tobacco, chocolate and mocha wrap around the palate. (Drink between 2024-2038). Antonio Galloni. WA 96+ (11/2020): Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The OG bursts from the glass with youthfully shy notes of fresh blackcurrants, black cherries and mulberries plus hints of pencil shavings, black soil, iron ore and black olives with a touch of bouquet garni. Full-bodied, the palate delivers taut, muscular, earth-laced black fruits with a firm, grainy texture and background freshness, finishing long and earthy. |

| VM 92 (12/2014): Super-ripe dark fruit, menthol, smoke, spices and leather are all laced together in the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The Three Kings. Rich, succulent and perfumed to the core, the 2012 possesses gorgeous depth, persistence and voluptuousness. The Three Kings is pure Clone 7 Cabernet Sauvignon, so not surprisingly this is an ample, broad-shouldered wine. Antonio Galloni. |
