WA 82-84 (5/2021): Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Maucaillou opens with notes of Bing cherries, ripe raspberries and boysenberries with suggestions of dried Mediterranean herbs, wild mushrooms and dusty soil. The medium-bodied palate has plenty of red fruit and herbal sparks on offer with a chewy texture and crisp backbone, finishing a little firm and green.
VM 85-87 (5/2021): The 2020 Maucaillou has a little dustiness on the nose that thankfully blows off after five minutes. Light blackberry and earthy scents emerge, though they would benefit from more vigor. The palate is underpinned by dry, firm tannins, and missing a little flesh and depth toward the finish, which feels bitter at the moment. Neal Martin.
JS 90-91 (4/2021): A red with blackberry, black-cherry and currant aromas. Medium body, fine tannins and a fresh finish. |
