| VM 94 (2/2009): Good deep red. Knockout nose offers superb clarity and lift to the aromas of black raspberry, peppery spices, minerals, smoky herbs and blood orange. Wonderfully dense yet somehow weightless, showing Outstanding floral lift to its sappy, tangy raspberry, mocha and pepper flavors. This spreads out to saturate the palate on the gripping, very long finish. A wonderfully suave example of this grand cru. |

| VM 93-96 (1/2018): (vinified in two new barrels air-dried for 36 months): Good medium red, not as dark as the Clos de Bèze. Classical red-soil Bonnes-Mares perfume of raspberry, redcurrant, iron and brown spice. Offers a compelling combination of thickness, density and sucrosite, with its red fruit flavors complicated by clove, cinnamon and aromatic herbs and captivating saline minerality; there's a mineral-driven spiciness that reminds me of the Volnay Caillerets. This wonderfully energetic wine finishes with lovely subtle floral/spicy perfume and rising length, with piquant notes of blood orange and lemon contributing to an impression of weightlessness. A very sophisticated, refined Bonnes-Mares in the making. Stephen Tanzer. |

| BH 95 (4/2019): (from Chambolle fruit.) Here too the nose is quite restrained with its admirably pure aromas of red cherry, dark currant, spice and earth along with notes of violet and lavender. I very much like the sense of underlying tension to the succulent, indeed even juicy, medium weight plus flavors that exude a subtle salinity on the tautly muscular and firm finish that flashes just a hint of youthful austerity. This isn't quite as complex as the Chambertin but it's close and it may well close the gap over time as this is also very clearly structured for mid to even longer-term keeping. Drink 2035+. |

BH 95 (4/2020): (from Chambolle fruit.) Here the reserved nose is ripe yet cool with its layered combination of both red and dark berry fruit aromas that are also quite spicy. There is a bit less density to the middle weight flavors that compensate by being sleeker and more well-delineated on the beautifully textured, dusty, powerful and very serious finale. This is unapologetically built-to-age and a wine that's going to need at least a decade first. Drink 2035+. WA 95+ (1/2020): Another of the highlights of the range is the 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, a striking wine that soars from the glass with notes of raspberries, red berries, rose petals, sweet spices, violets and forest floor. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with striking cut and definition, concluding with a long, mineral finish. This is an exquisitely refined Bonnes-Mares that is worth a special effort to seek out. |

| BH 95 (4/2021): (from Chambolle fruit). This too is quite aromatically cool and restrained with its combination of essence of red currant, cherry, lavender, soft spice elements and admirably subtle wood. The juicy and impressively concentrated flavors flash excellent intensity and focused power while displaying the same gorgeous texture as the Echezeaux, all wrapped in a hugely long, serious and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is beautifully refined, indeed while it may seem like an oxymoron given Bonnes Mares’ well-deserved reputation for power and muscle, this is more a wine of finesse. Even so, this should have no trouble aging and improving for close to 20 years. Drink 2036+. |

| BH 95 (3/2022): (from both Chambolle and Morey fruit). A cool, pretty and quite floral-suffused nose speaks mostly of red currant, plum, earth and a hint of just sliced fennel. The sleek, tautly muscular and enveloping big-bodied flavors exude a lovely tension that is also present on the dusty, serious, very compact and clearly built-to-age finale. This excellent effort should amply repay extended cellaring. Drink 2035+. |

BH 95 (4/2025): (from both Chambolle and Morey fruit). A slightly riper though still appealingly fresh nose combines notes of red and black cherry along with spice hints and a background suggestion of kirsch. There is a lovely sense of delicacy and refinement to the reasonably concentrated flavors that possess a gorgeous acid/fruit/tannin balance on the hugely long finale where a touch of wood slowly emerges. This is not what I would describe as a classic Bonnes Mares but it is nonetheless a gorgeous wine, indeed calling it a Bonnes Mares of finesse would be apt. Drink 2035+. JM 94-96 (10/2024): A crimson ruby. A little wilder than the Chambertin duo, a little plummier, softly ripe raspberries, a range of interesting complex aromatics. Builds fascinatingly on the palate, possibly a higher pH but thoroughly rewarding, with a complex texture as well, multi-layered, and very long. Drink from 2032-2040. |

BH 91 (5/2026): (from both Chambolle and Morey fruit). A spicy and expressive nose is composed primarily by notes of both red and dark currant, plum and soft earth wisps. There is good detail to the acceptably concentrated flavors that do possess focused power on the nicely persistent, firm and balanced finale. This does though need more depth so at least some cellaring is in order. Dink 2032+. JM 89-92 (10/2025): Medium crimson in colour. I am needing to coax out the nose which is not as sublimely explosive than it has been in certain riper vintages. Tougher and tighter with grainier tannins, more difficult. The acidity pokes through. Not the same level as the last two Volnay 1ers Crus, nor indeed up to its usual standard as this is often a sublime cuvée chez Henri Boillot. |

| BH 89 (4/2014): (from the 1er Le Clos Blanc.) An expressive nose blends notes of both red and dark berry fruit, earth, underbrush and game hints. There is good detail and verve to the middle weight flavors that possess the same saline component as the Caillerets before culminating in a delicious and intense finish. While this is not a true villages given the declassified 1er fruit, it definitely offers better than average quality for its declared level. Drink 2018+. Outstanding Top Value! |

VM 90 (3/2015): Bright, dark red. Sweet red berries, nutty oak and subtle soil tones on the nose. Fat, sweet and spicy, showing good fullness for village wine. Savory, serious Volnay with good vinosity and density and a saline complexity. Finishes with broad, building, ripe tannins and good savory persistence. Antonio Galloni. BH 88 (4/2014): (Entirely from 5 different 1ers). An earthy and distinctly ripe nose of cassis, plum and soft floral aromas gives way to equally earthy middle weight flavors where once again the supporting tannins are relatively fine-grained. The finale is firm without being rustic though there is enough youthful austerity to notice. This should reward mid-term cellaring. Drink 2018+. |

This is an excellent Volnay villages and worthy of your interest. Drink 2023+. Outstanding! |

JM 88-90 (10/2025): A medium depth of crimson. Some floral elegance to the nose with some light raspberry aromas. Very nicely balanced on the attack, them some oak and the slight austerity of the vintage come into play. The aftertaste however shows both raspberry and strawberry fruit to good effect. Drink from 2028-2033. BH 89 (4/2026): (from the confusingly named Le Village, of which there are several parcels scattered around the commune; this particular one is near Clos des Ducs). A slightly riper nose also features plum and violet nuances together with slightly darker fruit and more spice elements. The sleek and beautifully detailed flavors exude a subtle bead of minerality on the focused, precise and lightly austere finale. This is a Volnay of lace and grace but one that packs a certain power all the same. I like the understated style and this should repay mid-term cellaring. Drink 2030+. |

BH 94 (4/2013): (from a .60 ha parcel). In contrast to the jovial expressiveness of the prior wines this is much more reserved with its ripe yet cool aromas of dark berry fruit liqueur, spice and wet stone. The silky and equally cool and restrained middle weight flavors offer Outstanding definition on the rich, energetic and hugely long saline-infused finish. This is one seriously impressive Caillerets but note well that it’s built to age. Drink 2023+. VM 93+ (3/2014): Bright, dark red. Ripe, deep, multifaceted nose offers black cherry, raspberry, licorice, earth, gunflint and smoky minerality. Much denser than the Chevrets, showing terrific concentration and balance to its dark fruit, mineral and spice flavors. Finishes spicy, chewy and very long, with serious fine-grained tannins and sexy hints of pepper and herbs. Really perfectly integrated acidity here. This was a knockout from barrel a year ago and has been bottled with its tightly coiled spring intact. Stephen Tanzer. |

| BH 90 (4/2014): This is perhaps the ripest wine in the range with its nose of spiced plum, mocha, dark cherry liqueur and soft wood scents. There is excellent richness and mid-palate concentration to the lightly mineral-inflected flavors that possess fine persistence on the mildly austere and saline-infused finish that also displays enough asperity to notice. My score offers the benefit of the doubt that this will harmonize as it's a bit awkward today. Drink 2022+. |

JM 91-94 (10/2025): A little deeper in crimson, approaching ruby. The complex nose offers slightly darker fruit, a briary note, and a little new oak. The most volume of fruit among the Volnays, plus that slightly more regal touch to the fruit, which covers the bone structure completely. Good acidity behind. Promising. Drink from 2030-2036. VM 92 (1/2026): The 2024 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has a well-defined nose with cranberry and raspberry fruit, touches of tobacco and sous-bois, the latter becoming more pronounced with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a dash of black pepper on the entry. Fine weight and depth, quite fresh with a touch of allspice and cinnamon on the finish. This should give a decade of drinking pleasure. Neal Martin. BH 91 (4/2026): (from a .60 ha parcel). An exuberantly spicy nose freely reveals its combination of pure and equally elegant aromas of red and dark pinot fruit together with an array of floral nuances. The refined and lilting flavors are not especially concentrated but they also flash ample minerality on the focused, moderately austere and complex finale. This is lovely and while it's not going to wow anyone with its size and weight, the finesse and class alone are worth the price of admission. Drink 2032+. Outstanding! |

BH 91 (4/2013): (from 25+ year old vines). A deft touch of wood sets off the notably ripe mix of cassis and various dark berries that elegantly introduces the cool, pure and energetic flavors that seemed fashioned from nothing but silk and satin, all wrapped in a delicate, refined and beautifully balanced finish. This is a classic Chevret of matchless finesse. Drink 2018+. VM 91-93 (2/2013): Bright red-ruby. Rather brooding aromas of cassis, blackberry, smoke and licorice are pure and discreet. Surprisingly rich on entry, then lush and seamless in the middle, but with very good acidity framing and lifting the black fruit and game flavors. The powerful, rising finish features building tannins and a distinct thick-skinned character. The old vines in Boillot's parcel were strongly affected by millerandage, which largely explains this wine's extra measure of texture and concentration. Boillot noted that his 2011s generally have 3.8 to 4 grams per liter of acidity following the malos, which is quite healthy for the vintage. |

VM 91-94 (1/2015): Deep, bright red. Subtly complex nose melds redcurrant, black cherry, minerals, violet and earth. Wonderfully sweet and intense, showing a distinctly crunchy fruit character and lovely inner-mouth lift. From old vines and tiny grapes, and it shows. Finishes juicy, pure and very long, with firm but very suave tannins. The crop level here was just 14 hectoliters per hectare, according to Boillot--and 7 in 2014! BH 91 (4/2015): (from 25+ year old vines) An airy, fresh and distinctly cool nose displays an elegant melange of dark cherry, essence of raspberry and plum along with hints of spice, floral and tea. The mouth feel of the silky and refined middle weight flavors is notably finer and I very much like the vibrancy that continues onto the balanced and lingering finish. The overall impression of refinement is enhanced by the notably fine grain of the tannins and this is really lovely, indeed it's very Volnay. Drink 2020+. Outstanding! WA 88-90 (12/2014): The 2013 Volnay 1er Cru les Chevrets errs more toward red fruit than black fruit, unlike Henri Boillot’s other premier cru. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, touches of mocha and leather emerging toward the finish where the new oak is conspicuous at the moment. Give this a couple of years in bottle. It just feels a little conservative compared to others at present. |

| VM 91-93 (1/2018): (from four parcels of vines between 40 and 60 years of age; fruit in the lower section of the vineyard was wiped out by the frost): Healthy medium red. Slightly reduced nose conveys and medicinal dark raspberry aroma. Then fine-grained and graceful in the mouth, conveying an impression of delicacy to the flavors of raspberry, currant and flowers. Finishes quite suave and long, with very refined tannins. The Boillots made just 10 barrels in place of a normal 30, 3 of them new. Stephen Tanzer. |

| BH 91 (4/2019): (from 25+ year old vines). An elegant, airy and cool nose is also attractively perfumed and is composed of essence of red cherry, lavender and soft spice aromas. The elegant, even lilting middle weight flavors evidence notably more minerality on the wonderfully textured, refined and well-balanced finale. This is a lovely Chevrets fashioned in a style that should permit reasonably early accessibility. Drink 2023+. |

BH 93 (4/2020): An equally ripe nose speaks of cassis, black raspberry, spiced tea and similar floral whiffs. The mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is classy and sophisticated thanks to the super-fine-grained tannins shaping the lacy, lilting and strikingly long finish. This is excellent and very much worth your interest. Drink 2030+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! WA 92 (1/2020): The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, rose petals, cassis and violets. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with an ample chassis of powdery tannins, fine concentration and succulent acids. From a parcel of 58-year-old vines, this is a quintessentially elegant Volnay that should also drink well young. |

JM 90-93 (10/2025): A vibrant crimson with a little more depth than the Fremiets. The aromatics approach the nobility of a Caillerets, and so too on the palate. A fresh limestone thread runs through the middle. All the class of Volnay with structure too. Drink from 2029-2035. VM 91 (1/2026): The 2024 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru has a pretty, cranberry and raspberry-scented bouquet, with touches of crushed stone and undergrowth, a little Pommard-like. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, pliant tannins. A healthy sprinkle of black pepper here, quite gentle but cohesive towards the crowd-pleasing finish. Very fine. Neal Martin. BH 91 (4/2026): (from 30+ year old vines). A cooler and airier nose features elegant aromas of lavender, the essence of red cherry, crushed anise and a hint of spiced tea. The gorgeously textured and refined middle weight flavors exude an evident stoniness on the bitter pit fruit and youthfully austere finale that is firm and impressively persistent. As is virtually always the case, this is a wine of finesse and refinement. Drink 2032+. Outstanding! |

VM 90-92 (1/2015): Bright, dark red. Reticent, rather wild aromas of dark cherry and underbrush. Energetic but backward; much tighter today than the village wine and more dominated by its structure. The wild quality carries through on the palate. Best today on the back end, where fine-grained tannins spread out to saturate the palate. WA 88-90 (12/2014): The 2013 Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets comes from a single parcel of vines. The nose is well defined, dominated by the new oak at the moment, but there is sufficient fruit underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, quite dense at the moment with a touch of bell pepper on the masculine finish. Fine - if just a bit predictable. BH 88 (4/2015): Here too there are discreet floral nuances to the pretty red and dark currant scents that are liberally laced with earth and sandalwood nuances. There is a bit more volume to the medium-bodied flavors that retain a lovely sense of detail on the energetic, dusty and mildly austere finish though in this case there is just a hint of dryness that detracts slightly from the overall sense of balance and harmony. Drink 2020+. |

BH 91 (4/2018): A pungent nose of wood toast, menthol and reduction presently overwhelms the underlying fruit. The supple, sleek and precise medium weight flavors possess a lovely sense of underlying tension before concluding in a lingering and youthfully austere finish where a hint of bitter fruit pit surfaces. Drink 2024+. Outstanding! VM 91-93 (1/2018): (these vines are 25 to 50 years old; from whiter soil that typical yields a harder, more austere style of wine than the Chevrets): Medium red. More discreet and a bit more medicinal on the nose than the Chevrets. Juicy red berry flavors are lifted by spicy high notes but kept under wraps by salty minerality and a medicinal menthol aspect.. Boasts lovely lift and inner-mouth tension and finishes with very fine-grained tannins, but this very promising wine will require at least a few years of bottle aging to loosen up a bit. WA 93 (1/2020): The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets exhibits lovely aromas of raspberries and cherries mingled with orange rind, spice and raw cocoa. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and fine-boned, from more calcium-rich soils than Les Chevrets and built around bright acids and fine, chalky tannins. BH 91 (4/2020): A restrained if clearly ripe nose is comprised by notes of cassis, black cherry, violet and pretty rose petal hints. The sleeker and more refined is perhaps not quite as concentrated flavors also possess a seductive texture and even more minerality, all wrapped in a mildly warm and youthfully austere finale that is slightly firmer. This is perhaps a bit finer than it usually is with solid development potential. Drink 2031+. JM 90-93 (10/2024): Frémiets, the limestone radiator, says Henri. Picked in good time, as the perfume of ripe raspberry with a little soft strawberry indicates. | BH 96 (6/2022): (one contiguous parcel measuring about .24 ha is spread evenly between Chassagne and Puligny; Boillot calls it his Bâtard du Milieu.) A slightly riper yet still very fresh, cool and pretty with acacia blossom, citrus confit and a beautiful array of spice wisps. There is terrific size, weight and mid-palate density to the big-bodied and powerful flavors that culminate in a lemon, very clean and hugely long finale. BH 96 (6/2018): ( from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A highly restrained nose requires considerable swirling to liberate the beautifully well-layered aromas of mineral reduction, white rose, spice, citrus and a wisp of exotic tea. Like the Pucelles there is excellent richness and detail and much more minerality-suffusing the almost painfully intense finale that is breathtaking in its persistence. This is a gem of a Puligny 1er and in 2016 is a lovely blend of power and finesse. In sum, this is a knockout. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding! VM 93-95 (9/2017): (13.3% alcohol with 4.5 grams per liter acidity; cropped at 38 hectoliters per hectare, from vines up to 80 years of age): Bright light-medium yellow. Utterly pure scents of stone fruits, apricot, nuts and honeysuckle. Rich, deep, silky and moderately saline but also powerful and backward, displaying terrific precision and purity in the mouth. A superb, classic Clos de la Mouchère: utterly plush and seamless without being heavy or over the top. Boillot noted that he will slowly replant these very old vines in a series of tranches over the next 15 to 25 years. Stephen Tanzer. |

VM 94 (8/2021): The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère 1er Cru has a light bouquet of undergrowth and wet pavement, a little subdued at first but finding its voice with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and there is some beautifully integrated oak here. Harmonious and poised with wonderful weight and precision toward the finish, where veins of white peach furnish the seductive aftertaste. Absolutely delicious. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (Drink between 2023-2042). Neal Martin. BH 93 (7/2022): A touch of mineral reduction can be found on the markedly floral-inflected nose of white peach, spice and discreet wood nuances. There is first-rate volume to the caressing yet powerful flavors that possess excellent mid-palate density before concluding in an energetic and well-balanced finale. This isn't especially complex at present so I would suggest holding it for another 4 to 6 years first. Lovely. Tried twice since release with consistent notes. (Drink starting 2027). |

| BH 96 (6/2022): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières). This is perhaps the most floral-suffused nose in the range with its aromas of essence of pear and plenitude of spice and citrus elements. Once again, the mid-palate mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is absolutely gorgeous, which contrasts noticeably with the cuts-like-a-knife finish that remains ultra-refined, balanced and persistent. This is most impressive, particularly for the remarkably fine volume and power that is delivered with grace and class. Drink 2030+. |

| BH 94 (6/2023): Cool, airy and very pretty aromas of the essence of pear, exotic tea, spice and acacia blossom are trimmed in an admirably discreet touch of oak. Much like the Pucelles, the texture of the slightly bigger and more mineral-driven flavors is wonderfully refined and even more powerful on the explosively long, graceful and bone-dry finale. This is also highly recommended. |

| JM 94-97 (10/2024): A fuller yellow here, and an extra degree of completeness, more weight and almost all the class. The oak is still at 50% new and is very well integrated. Gorgeously rich, with little fruits dancing through a meadow. Once again, I do see the magic of this. Henri was strongly advised by his father to look after “Madame de la Mouchère”. Drink from 2030-2038. |

BH 96 (6/2026): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières). Here too the lightly wooded nose displays a panoply of floral nuances that include rose petal, lilac and acacia blossom with additional notes of just grated zest, spice and green apple. There is almost painful intensity to the slightly more concentrated and more mineral-driven flavors that conclude in a chiseled, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale that seems to go on and on. The Clos de la Mouchère is always excellent but in 2024, it is genuinely stunning. Drink 2032+. Outstanding! JM 93-96 (10/2025): Mid yellow. There is a little touch of patisserie on the nose, showing the additional breadth of fruit on Henri Boillot’s favourite vineyard. That’s what gives the gourmandise to the wine, says Henri. This seems to have all the aspects with an excellent mineral backbone holding the fruit together. Lime blossom and acacia he finds, from the adjacent trees which flower at the same time. Very fine long finish. Drink from 2030-2036. VM 90 (1/2026): The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with a veil of new oak, just like the other cuvées I tasted from Boillot. The palate is balanced with a rounded texture, quite a weight and assertive Puligny that needs more finesse to develop on the finish. Neal Martin. |

| BH 94 (6/2021): A more reserved and slightly cooler nose is more overtly floral in character while displaying notes of mineral reduction and fennel hints. Once again, the mouthfeel of the medium weight and intensely mineral-driven flavors is exceptionally fine while delivering superb length on the equally well-balanced finish. This could use more depth, but more should develop if allowed at least 5 to 7 years of age first. Drink 2031+. |

| JM 91-93 (10/2024): A lemon colour. This is more on the stones than a heavyweight on the nose. On the palate there is a wealth of ripe citrus, with the start of some yellow peaches, but the stones definitely dominate. Slightly two-speed at the moment, but should pull together by the end of its elevage. Drink from 2029-2035. |

| BH 95 (6/2021): There is enough reduction to overshadow the underlying fruit at present so if you’re going to try a bottle before 2 to 3 years, I would advise decanting it first. Otherwise there is a beguiling sense of energy suffusing the medium-bodied flavors that possess a succulent mid-palate which contrasts somewhat with the bone-dry and youthfully austere finale. This is both classy and very stylish and a wine that should age gracefully. Drink 2031+. |

| JM 93-95 (10/2024): Clear pale lemon. Immediate class on the nose, a pure white fruit with just the right degree of sunshine to make it satisfying. Electricity on the palate, energetic fresh limestone, some ripe citrus persisting behind. Henri tells me that Pucelles came in with both the highest sugar level and the highest acidity. Drink from 2030-2038. |
