| VM 91 (7/2019): The 2015 Esprit de Chevalier has an attractive bouquet with blackberry, bilberry, crushed chalk and cedar aromas that feel focused and intense. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity, quite elegant in style with a smooth and rounded finish. Delightful. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. Neal Martin. |

VM 92 (11/2024): The 2020 L'Esprit de Chevalier has a tad too much wood influence on the nose, but there is sufficient fruit to absorb it. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, fleshy, lively and detailed, with a dash of white pepper toward the finish. This is another delicious, classically styled Pessac-Léognan. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. (Drink between 2026-2042). Neal Martin. JD 91 (3/2023): The 2020 L'Esprit De Chevalier is more restrained aromatically, yet has outstanding purity in its red and black fruits as well as notes of dried herbs, tobacco, chocolate, and damp earth. It's a medium-bodied, elegant, balanced, and certainly delicious second wine that will benefit from just a year or two of bottle age and shine for a decade. (Drink between 2023-2033) WA 90 (4/2023): Fleshy and demonstrative, the 2020 L'Esprit de Chevalier bursts with aromas of sweet berries, plums and petals. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with polished tannins and an expansive finish, it will drink well young. |

VM 91-93 (4/2026): The 2025 L'Esprit de Chevalier is cohesive and well defined on the nose, very focused, with slightly earthy red fruit that gains brightness with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, well balanced, quite sapid in style, with a tang of black olive engaging on the finish. This is a fine Deuxième Vin that should represent great value. Neal Martin. WA 90-92 (4/2026): The 2025 L'Esprit de Chevalier, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, reveals a notably expressive bouquet for the estate, with aromas of cassis, raspberry, spice and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and round, it shows a touch of firmness, with extraction that is somewhat marked at this stage. The finish is structured but not drying, preserving balance. JA 90 (4/2026): Sweet cassis and bilberry, attractive texture, juice and depth, touch of dilution through the mid palate but there is balance here, and it is charming. |

VM 91-93 (4/2026): The 2025 L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc is impressive on the nose for a Deuxième Vin, with engaging green apple, kiwi, pear drop and light stony scents that are very well defined. The palate is well balanced, with fine acidity, lovely texture, the 30% Sémillon imparting weight and umami towards the peppery finish. Not immensely long, but this is very satisfying. Neal Martin. WA 90-92 (4/2026): The 2025 L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc reveals a fresh, aromatic bouquet of verbena, confit lemon and spring flowers. Medium-bodied, juicy and crystalline, it’s notably fresh yet enveloping, combining precision and freshness with a juicy core of fruit, concluding with a long and ethereal finish, underlining the wine’s balance and clarity. JA 92 (4/2026): Appealing, succulent, nicely balanced, graphite and citrus, this has lovely bright zest and grip, slate, enjoyable, a great value pick that really should not be overlooked. |
