VM 93 (12/2023): The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet with dried honey, almond, peach skin and light wax resin scents. It just lacks a bit of tension and mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive acidity. There is real tension here—perhaps this is a Puligny that was picked earlier than its peers? Remaining quite sharp toward its saline finish, a bit of heat unexpectedly pops up on the aftertaste. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2025-2042). Neal Martin. BH 91 (6/2022): Airy and more elegant aromas are comprised by equally smoky notes of pear, apple, mineral reduction and acacia blossom along with a suggestion of the exotic. The delicious medium weight flavors possess a relatively supple and overtly rich mid-palate that immediately tightens up on the very dry and persistent finale. This concentrated and serious if seductive effort is really quite attractive as the only nit is a hint of warmth. (Drink starting 2026). WA 90 (1/2022): Notes of pear, orange oil, pastry cream, peaches and freshly baked bread introduce the 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet, a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy wine with an ample, open-knit core of fruit and a saline finish. It's a fine effort, but it isn't as tensile as I anticipated from tank last year. |

VM 93+ (6/2026): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Champs Canet 1er Cru has a delightful bouquet of beeswax, chai, Mirabelle and crushed stone that unfolds in the glass. The palate is fresh and edgy on the entry, with quite a keen, tensile line of acidity and a slightly pithy finish. There is a sense of completeness to this Champs Canet that is endearing. Recommended. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2027-2049). Neal Martin. BH 91 (6/2025): A discreet application of wood sets off cool and layered aromas of the essence of white orchard fruit, citrus confit and acacia blossom. There is again fine richness to the medium-bodied and caressing flavors that retain good detail on the mineral-driven and focused finish that delivers sneaky good length. This isn't exactly chiseled but it's close and a wine that should repay up to a decade of keeping. (Drink starting 2029). WA 90 (1/2025): Offering up aromas of pear, pineapple and freshly baked bread, the 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet is medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with a rich, fleshy core of fruit and an ample, demonstrative profile. |
