VM 88? (7/2024): The 2020 Saint-Aubin Clos de la Chatenière 1er Cru has a slightly nutty, Meursault-like bouquet that needs a little more freshness. It feels a little more mature than a 2020. There is something a bit static about the aromatics. The palate is balanced with a tangy opening, a simple Chardonnay rather than a definable Saint-Aubin. It is fresh and boasts decent length, but it does not leave you beholden. N.B. I find this far superior at the Domaine, hence my lower score. Perhaps the bottle? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. BH 92 (7/2023): There is just enough reduction to suppress the underlying fruit for the moment with the exception of a whisper of lemon zest. By contrast there is really lovely intensity to the precise, cool and restrained mineral-inflected middleweight flavors that terminate in a racy, clean and emphatically dry finale that displays only a trace of youthful austerity. This chiseled effort is excellent and akin to rolling tiny rocks around the mouth. |

WA 94 (1/2023): Once again, the 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard contains the young high-density plantings that Lamy deems insufficiently mature to merit inclusion in his Haute Densité cuvée. Offering up aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus oil and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, its satiny attack segueing into a taut, chalky mid-palate and a long, mineral finish. BH 90 (6/2023): Smoky aromas of green apple, pear and a subtle floral nuance are complemented by succulent, delicious and vibrant middleweight flavors that are sleek if not especially dense, all wrapped in a beautifully textured, focused, stony and lingering finish. In contrast to the Clos des Gravières, this is going to need at least a few years of keeping first as it is less forthcoming at present. (Drink starting 2027). |

| BH 93 (6/2024): Decidedly cool and restrained aromas are comprised by notes of just sliced citrus and green apple along with hints of white flowers and wet stone. The gorgeously textured middleweight flavors are borderline painfully intense before culminating in a sleek, chiseled and dry finale that is noticeably less austere. This relatively powerful effort is very much built-to-age and a wine that will need at least 5 to 6 years of keeping first. Excellent. Drink 2023+. |

St. Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly |

VM 93 (1/2021): First comes a splendid 2007 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru. Fully mature on the nose, it delivers scents of wild mint and Seville orange marmalade; then with further aeration, intriguing aromas of Granny Smith apples mixed with background hints of charred wood. The palate demonstrates very fine delineation, a beautifully poised En Remilly with a penetrating line of acidity that renders it surprisingly youthful on the nose. This classy En Remilly is à point, but clearly it has the legs to last several more years. (Drink between 2021-2030). Neal Martin. BH 92 (6/2009): A pungent and expressive if very cool nose of lemon, straw and white flower aromas marry into detailed, pure, indeed crystalline flavors that explode onto the almost painfully intense, bone dry and explosive finish that drenches the palate in extract. This is built on a base of stone and is classically styled with moderate austerity. (Drink starting 2012). WA 90 (9/2021): The 2007 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly is lovely, offering up aromas of orange oil, smoky pear, pastry cream and an exotic top note of coconut. Medium-bodied, chiseled and incisive, it's tightly wound and without much flesh on its bones, concluding with a vanillin-inflected finish. It's a fine effort, but it can't match the wines Lamy is producing today. |

| BH 91-93 (6/2016): While there is a trace of matchstick present it's not enough to completely mask the citrus and high-toned floral scents. There is terrific energy and minerality present on the impressively concentrated and generously proportioned middle weight flavors that possess a succulent yet markedly dry finish that stops just short of overt austerity. This should be approachable young yet reward up to a decade of cellar time. Drink 2021+. Outstanding Top Value. |

| VM 91 (11/2018): The 2015 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has an exotic bouquet for this vineyard, featuring dried mango, hints of lychee and light passion fruit aromas. It is not unattractive but lacks terroir expression. The palate is fresh and spicy on the entry, displaying a fine bead of lively acidity and demonstrating impressive depth. There is more activity and personality in the mouth than on the nose, and the finish fans out with hints of orange peel and a touch of sour lemon. This is an En Remilly that you end up liking more and more with acquaintance. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure) Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (1/2021): The 2017 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly is also very promising, delivering scents of peach, white flowers, fresh hazelnuts, crushed rocks and smoke. Medium to full-bodied and racy, it's saline and precise, with plenty of controlled mid-palate amplitude and a long, mineral finish. VM 93 (8/2021): The 2017 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has a well-defined, attractive bouquet of pressed flower, honeysuckle and crushed stone aromas; the oak is very well integrated. The palate is tangy on the entry, offering orange peel and sour lemon notes and good depth, and quite salty toward the finish. There is a lot going on in this busy Saint-Aubin and I suspect that it will age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (Drink between 2023-2038). Neal Martin. |

WA 95 (1/2023): The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly wafts from the glass with aromas of white flowers, crisp stone fruit, honeycomb, orange oil and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping palate that's racy and precise, combining the aromatic expression and textural attack characteristic of its sunny exposition with the tension and cut appropriate to this high-altitude, stony site. BH 92 (6/2023): This is aromatically quite similar to the Chez Edouard but with more prominent citrus influence. There is notably better density to the equally beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors that flash excellent minerality on the solidly powerful, lengthy and impeccably well-balanced finale. Like the Gravières, this should be enjoyable young but have no trouble repaying up to a decade of bottle age. (Drink starting 2028). VM 88 (7/2024): The 2020 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with wet pavement and limestone aromas, pinning this as an En Remilly. It just becomes a little diffuse with aeration. The palate is slightly chalky on the entry, has crisp acidity, and may be a little too sharp on the citric finish. I would also prefer more length here. I'm surprised this turned out to be Lamy, but that's blind tasting for you. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Neal Martin. |

BH 93 (6/2024): A markedly floral nose of bright citrus confit, mineral reduction and discreet spice wisps leads to intense and vibrant medium weight flavors that are notably saline in character on the crisp, dry, moderately austere and linear finale. I very much like the balance and this solidly powerful effort should reward a decade plus of cellaring, which is just as well as it could use better depth. This too is excellent. (Drink starting 2031). VM 93 (10/2025): The 2021 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru also sports some reduction on the nose like de Montille's En Remilly; however, this seems part of the wine and does not shade the mineralité or terroir profile. The palate is lively and tensile with a citric line of acidity, bright and lemony towards the quite persistent finish. This is a delicious Saint-Aubin that is bursting with energy. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2025-2035). Neal Martin. WA 92 (1/2024): The 2021 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly sheds a touch of light reduction in the glass to exhibit aromas of green apple, white flowers, toasted nuts and gunflint. Medium-bodied, satiny and tangy, it unites a certain amplitude of sun-kissed fruit with electric acids and a saline finish. Remilly always exhibits the characteristics of a high-altitude, very stony site that's simultaneously very sunny, but the frost in 2021 has only heightened its internal contrasts. |

| VM 92-94 (12/2020): The 2019 Saint-Aubin Les Frionnes 1er Cru has a very taut, Puligny-like nose with wet limestone and flinty aromas accompanying the Granny Smith apples. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, superb salinity with a vibrant, animated finish that feels reassuringly persistent. Pure class. Neal Martin. |

| VM 88-90 (12/2020): The 2019 Saint-Aubin La Princee is quite reduced on the nose while I taste it. The palate has a saline entry with lime and citrus fruit, good depth with an edgy malic finish that just pulls up a little short. Fine. Neal Martin. |
