VM 91 (8/2006): Dark violet. Expressive, open-knit aromas of dark berries, roasted plum, cured tobacco, espresso, rose oil and licorice, plus a sexy oak spice accent (this was raised in 25% new French hogsheads). Broad and luscious, with sweet, deep flavors of blackberry and black cherry liqueur, spicecake and molasses. The smooth tannins are perfectly integrated into the wine's fruit and barely make an appearance until late on the aftertaste.
WA 90 (10/2006): The 2004 Shiraz Bad Impersonator (which sees about 25% new oak) reveals a Pinot Noir-like sensitivity. From older vines, it displays a dark ruby/purple color, wonderful elegance, and plenty of creme de cassis, blackberry, espresso roast, and white chocolate notes as well as a hint of barrique. Consume it over the next 5-6 years. |

WA 94 (10/2006): From the Barossa, the inky/ruby/purple-hued 2004 Shiraz Bella’s Garden offers notions of mint, blackberries, smoke, dusty earth, and a distinctive licorice and creme de cassis character. This layered, full-bodied, powerful (all of these wines have 15-16% alcohol), stunningly complex, rich, impressive Shiraz requires 2-3 years of cellaring, and should keep for 10-15.
VM 91+ (8/2006): Dark purple. Powerful red fruit scents, with strong suggestions of kirsch and white pepper. Densely packed flavors of candied strawberry and raspberry preserves are given focus and definition by bracing acids and fine tannins. This very young shiraz finishes on bright, tangy notes of pomegranate and rhubarb. I'd give this wine at least a few years in the cellar to flesh out. |

| WA 94+ (6/2015): Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Bella's Garden Shiraz has wonderfully pure black and blue fruit notes of crushed blackberries, wild blueberries and cassis with nuances of black pepper, star anise, tar and cumin seed. Big, rich and concentrated in the mouth, the full-bodied palate bursts with peppered blackberry flavors supported by firm, grainy tannins and lively acidity, finishing with great persistence. |
