| VM 91-92 (6/2019): Vivid red. Fragrant, spice-accented red and dark berries, candied rose and a hint of musky sassafras on the incisive nose. Bright and focused on the palate, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that spread out and turn sweeter with air. | VM 89+ (3/2001): Bright dark red. Reticent nose opened to show red fruits, scotch, vanilla and rose petal. Fat, silky and lush in the mouth, with burnished oak notes and complex flavors of redcurrant, strawberry and orange peel. Still a bit youthfully disjointed due to the strong oak component but already shows a more sophisticated texture-and more verve-than the '98. Tannins are serious but fine. |

WA 95 (8/2023): The 2021 Pinot Noir The Belles Soeurs opens from bright orange peel to a deeper core of pomegranate, raspberry, dried earth and botanicals, really blossoming as it spends time in the glass and from day to day after the bottle is opened. The medium-bodied palate balances concentrated, floral flavors, chalky tannins and juicy acidity, and it offers a long, spicy finish with a fan of amaro-like spices. This is fresh and easy to drink without sacrificing any complexity!
VM 94 (1/2024): The 2021 Pinot Noir The Belles Sœurs wafts up with a dramatic blend of violets, lavender, hints of underbrush and dusty dried strawberries. This is graceful and finessed with pretty red and blue fruit depths lifted by cooling acidity. Spicy and sleek, the 2021 tapers off lightly tannic with a pleasantly bitter tinge, leaving slowly fading hints of licorice. Belles Sœurs is the understated beauty of this range and intended to be the more approachable Pinot in the portfolio; it succeeds in every way imaginable. (Drink between 2024-2032). Eric Guido. |

| VM 90+ (5/2007): Ruby-red. Dark, musky plum, cherry and blackberry and cola on the nose, with complicating notes of underbrush, dried flowers and licorice. Dried dark berry flavors are braced by zesty minerality and gentle tannins, with an exotic twist of sassafras on the back. Alluringly earthy, floral and sweet on the precise, understated finish. |

| VM 96 (8/2020): Vivid magenta. A hugely perfumed bouquet displays an array of ripe red and blue fruits, pungent flowers and exotic spices, along with hints of cola and smoky minerals. Deeply concentrated yet lively as well, offering palate-staining cherry, black raspberry and boysenberry flavors and building lavender and allspice flourishes. VM 97 (2/2022): Brilliant ruby. Expansive, spice-tinged black raspberry, kirsch and boysenberry scents are complicated by suggestions of incense, pungent flowers and smoky minerals. Alluringly sweet and expansive in the mouth, offering densely packed red and blue fruit preserve, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that deftly balance weight and delicacy. Shows superb finishing cut and lift on the wonderfully long finish, which features polished tannins and reverberating blue fruit, floral and spice notes. (Drink between 2026-2036). Josh Raynolds.
WA 97 (12/2021): The 2019 Pinot Noir The Upper Terrace opens with graphite and earth aromas that segue to scents of briary fruits, peppered meats, blood orange and dark spices. Finely silty and super fresh, it boasts concentrated, layered fruit and a very long finish with a flourish of savory accents. |

JD 97 (9/2023): A more transparent medium ruby, the 2021 Pinot Noir The Upper Terrace takes on a more woodsy and dark profile while remaining graceful. In the glass, it reveals notes of pine, cherry liqueur, wet asphalt, and rosemary. Medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins and more earth tones, it has the bones to last well over the coming 10-12 years. Audrey Frick.
VM 97 (1/2024): The 2021 Pinot Noir The Upper Terrace takes its time, youthfully coiled and brooding in the glass. Coaxing reveals a decidedly savory bouquet with an earthy tinge, notes of sage and rosemary giving way to crushed wild berries and hints of cola. Silky and sleek, the 2021 flows easily across the palate, mixing a zesty citrus twang with red berry and spice depths underscored by a near-salty sensation. Tactile mineral tones mingle with fine tannins, adding grip through the finish as violet inner florals slowly fade, and the Upper Terrace sinks into a long slumber.
