| VM 93 (2/2018): Brovia's 2013 Barolo is gorgeous. Deep, ample and beautifully layered in the glass, it possesses terrific expansiveness in every dimension. An exotic bouquet laced with hints of orange peel, cinnamon, pomegranate, kirsch and mint melds into a core of rich red stone fruit. This one of the best straight Barolos readers will come across. It is built on a core of fruit from the Brea Cru in Serralunga (the part outside the Ca' Mia parcel), with the addition of about 30% juice left over after the casks for the single-vineyard Barolos have been filled. The 2013 is one of the very finest values in high-end wine. Don't miss it. |

WA 92 (6/2013): The 2009 Barolo Rocche takes us in a new direction thanks to its seductive bouquet that is woven tight with menthol tones and dried ginger backed by savory scents of leather, tobacco, sweet spice and licorice. The wine shows added complexity and nuance. I’m sure these tones will shape up nicely in the cellar. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026.
VM 91 (1/2015): An attractive, mid-weight wine, the 2009 Barolo Rocche dei Brovia is all about grace. The style is quite weightless and perfumed, with lovely overall balance and silky tannins that make the wine approachable, even in its youth. Small red berries, mint and spices are woven into the subtle, understated finish. Overall the 2009 comes across as a wine to drink over the near and medium-term given its decidedly mid-weight structure. (Drink between 2015-2029). Antonio Galloni. |

The wine shows pinpoint precision with small berry nuances, wildflower and crushed stone. The mineral signature adds beautiful focus.

VM 96 (1/2018): The Barolo Villero is not my favorite Brovia wine, so I don’t tend to reach for it very often. Perhaps that is a mistake. The 2004 is simply magnificent. Dense and powerful in the glass, with all of the alluring aromatics and balsamic notes that are typical of this site, the Villero simply has it all. Antonio Galloni.
WA 94 (10/2009): The 2004 Barolo Villero is heady, sensual stuff. This ethereal, mid-weight Barolo wafts from the glass with white truffles, spices, menthol and sweet perfumed roses in a defining expression of this Castiglione Falletto vineyard. The wine retains tons of grace and elegance as firm, yet well-integrated tannins frame the fruit through to the close. This is a terrific effort from Brovia! I tasted two bottles; the first was open and accessible, the second very much shut down. I would give this wine at least another few years in bottle before giving it a try. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. |

| VM 94 (4/2012): The 2006 Barolo Villero is a gorgeous, mid-weight Barolo. Scents of tobacco, licorice, mint and new leather lead to a core of expressive dark red fruit. There is an exotic quality to the 2006 that is hard to define with words. The 2006 is a super-classic Villero. | VM 96 (1/2014): Brovia's 2010 Barolo Villero wraps around the palate with dark red cherries, plums, spices, menthol, new leather and licorice. Rich, sumptuous and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2010 is firing on all cylinders. Today the Villero is remarkably open, which is unusual for this wine. This early tasting provides a clue of what will develop over the next few years, and that is all hugely positive. Cloves, mocha and black fruit all add gravitas on the finish. Today the Villero seems to bring together the finesse of the Rocche and weight of the Ca' Mia. What a thrill it is to catch the Villero at this expressive stage in its development. A huge, creamy, totally voluptuous finish is full of appeal and pure sexiness. Antonio Galloni. |
