WA 91 (5/2011): Similar in style to the 2008 Bon Pasteur, the dark ruby/plum-colored 2008 Rouget is unquestionably a sleeper of the vintage. Notes of mulberries, black currants and sandy, loamy soil as well as a lush, seductive, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel and good purity as well as depth suggest it can be drunk now and over the next decade or more. JS 90 (12/2010): Loads of berry, chocolate and toasted oak character, with coffee as well. Full and velvety, with a long finish. It’s a wine that builds on that palate. Leave it for three or four years. VM 89 (8/2011): Medium red-ruby. Blueberry, fresh herbs and dark chocolate on the nose and palate, with both jammy and weedy suggestions. Creamy and seamless in the mouth, offering very good breadth along with a lightly green quality on the back end. For drinking over the next eight to ten years. |
