| VM 94 (10/2007): (84% cabernet sauvignon, 13% merlot and 3% cabernet franc) Deep ruby. Explosively perfumed, complex bouquet runs the red and dark fruit gamut, with vibrant raspberry, cherry, blackberry and cassis scents deepened by cured tobacco, mint, vanilla and incense. Silky in texture, with serious heft to dark berry and cherry flavors. Mocha, vanilla, lavender pastille and licorice qualities add complexity and depth. Impressively balanced, pure and palate-staining, finishing with a deep blackcurrant quality, supple tannins and Outstanding length. Serious and deserving patience. |

WA 96 (1/2026): The 2005 Diana Madeline is laden with cocoa and pan drippings, pressed rose petals, bay leaf and tobacco. The wine is tertiary and yet fresh, with layers of cassis and dark chocolate amid the ironstone tannins. Older Margaret River Cabernets tend to show pronounced leafiness, and this is no exception. It holds a freshness that I find to be most attractive. 14% alcohol, sealed under natural cork. VM 93 (8/2007): Bright purple. Intriguingly perfumed aromas of vibrant red- and blackcurrant, cherry and plum brightened by nervy mineral and fresh rose notes. Crisp and wonderfully focused red fruit flavors show no rough edges and offer impressive depth; the floral quality builds with air and a hint of anise arrives on the back. This really expands and gains in sweetness on the long, spicy finish. Possesses the balance and concentration to repay at least another six years of cellaring. Josh Raynolds. |

WA 93 (8/2011): Coming from a single vineyard planted in 1971 and 1976, the 2009 Diana Madeline is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot and 2% Malbec. It was aged for around 13 months in French barriques, 55% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it offers expressive aromas of ripe cassis, freshly crushed blackberries and blueberries over cloves, damp loam, hung meat, grated mace, dried Mediterranean herbs and a dusting of dark chocolate powder. Medium bodied and wonderfully graceful on the palate, it has crisp acid, firm finely grained tannins and a long earthy finish. It really needs another year or two in bottle to open-out, drinking best 2013 to 2023+. VM 93 (7/2011): Dark violet. Fresh cherry and raspberry aromas are complemented by pipe tobacco and dried rose. Silky and sweet in the mouth, with bright red fruit flavors complemented by deeper bitter chocolate and herbal nuances. Firmly structured but in no way hard, finishing with excellent clarity and sappy persistence. Josh Raynolds. |

WA 94 (8/2012): Composed of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2010 Diana Madeline was aged for an average of 19 months in French barriques, 51% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it offers an intense perfume of crushed black currants, blackberry preserves and mulberries with underlying clove, cedar, yeast extract, black olive and damp loam hints. The modest light to medium-bodied palate really packs the flavor into an elegant package with layer upon layer of youthful blackberry and spice flavors supported by a firm level of finely grained tannins and crisp acidity, finishing long. It should drink best 2015 to 2028+. VM 93 (7/2012): Dark ruby. Redcurrant, cherry and pipe tobacco on the highly perfumed nose, with a touch of allspice. Aeration brings up darker fruits and a hint of candied violet. Shows very good concentration and focus, with no excess fat and excellent finishing clarity. Josh Raynolds. |

WA 96 (1/2026): The 2012 Diana Madeline hails from a sensational, warm and balanced season in Margaret River, and the wines—especially the reds—show it. On the nose, there are notes of graphite, dark chocolate, petrichor, dried bay leaf and licorice. In the mouth, the wine is fresher and more elegant than the aromas would suggest, and the impact of this confluence is one of increased complexity and charm. The wine has real life on the palate and length through the finish. The 2012s are gorgeous wines. This has it is spades. 13.2% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. VM 94 (7/2014): Inky ruby. Mineral- and smoke-laced blackcurrant and cherry aromas are complemented by deeper notes of licorice and mocha. Sappy, seamless and focused, offering sweet black and blue fruit flavors and a hint of anise. This rich yet animated blend finishes with excellent clarity and length and silky tannins that add shape. Extended aeration brought out a lively mineral character and a sexy lavender pastille quality along with added weight. Josh Raynolds. |
