VM 91 (4/2016): Opaque ruby. Smoky, perfumed scents of fresh dark berries, violet and allspice are joined by a lively mineral nuance that builds in the glass. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering energetic black and blue fruit flavors and a deeper licorice nuance that gains power with air. A peppery quality adds spiciness to the long, focused finish, which is shaped by supple, harmonious tannins. Josh Raynolds.
