Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre

VM 93 (8/2018): The 2016 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a very precise bouquet with subtle veins of liquorice infusing the citrus fruit, all well defined and focused, if not blatantly powerful. The palate is very well delineated with a slightly viscous, utterly harmonious opening. This feels effortless and natural, the acidity beautifully pitched with a precise and sustained finish that has just the right amount of salinity to urge another sip. Bon vin! 2017

Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre

VM 89+ (8/2021): The 2017 Chablis Montée de Tonerre 1er Cru has a lightly perfumed, smoky nose with white peach and gunflint scents, all well defined and focused. There is just a little SO2 to contend with. The palate is medium-bodied with a reduced entry. A suppressed and slightly bitter Montée de Tonnerre that feels bitter on the finish. Maybe I would give it a couple of years in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (Drink between 2023-2032). Neal Martin.
