| BH 95 (4/2019): (from Chambolle fruit.) Here too the nose is quite restrained with its admirably pure aromas of red cherry, dark currant, spice and earth along with notes of violet and lavender. I very much like the sense of underlying tension to the succulent, indeed even juicy, medium weight plus flavors that exude a subtle salinity on the tautly muscular and firm finish that flashes just a hint of youthful austerity. This isn't quite as complex as the Chambertin but it's close and it may well close the gap over time as this is also very clearly structured for mid to even longer-term keeping. Drink 2035+. |

BH 95 (4/2020): (from Chambolle fruit.) Here the reserved nose is ripe yet cool with its layered combination of both red and dark berry fruit aromas that are also quite spicy. There is a bit less density to the middle weight flavors that compensate by being sleeker and more well-delineated on the beautifully textured, dusty, powerful and very serious finale. This is unapologetically built-to-age and a wine that's going to need at least a decade first. Drink 2035+. WA 95+ (1/2020): Another of the highlights of the range is the 2018 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, a striking wine that soars from the glass with notes of raspberries, red berries, rose petals, sweet spices, violets and forest floor. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with striking cut and definition, concluding with a long, mineral finish. This is an exquisitely refined Bonnes-Mares that is worth a special effort to seek out. |

| BH 95 (4/2021): (from Chambolle fruit). This too is quite aromatically cool and restrained with its combination of essence of red currant, cherry, lavender, soft spice elements and admirably subtle wood. The juicy and impressively concentrated flavors flash excellent intensity and focused power while displaying the same gorgeous texture as the Echezeaux, all wrapped in a hugely long, serious and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is beautifully refined, indeed while it may seem like an oxymoron given Bonnes Mares’ well-deserved reputation for power and muscle, this is more a wine of finesse. Even so, this should have no trouble aging and improving for close to 20 years. Drink 2036+. |

| BH 95 (3/2022): (from both Chambolle and Morey fruit). A cool, pretty and quite floral-suffused nose speaks mostly of red currant, plum, earth and a hint of just sliced fennel. The sleek, tautly muscular and enveloping big-bodied flavors exude a lovely tension that is also present on the dusty, serious, very compact and clearly built-to-age finale. This excellent effort should amply repay extended cellaring. Drink 2035+. |

| BH 95 (4/2025): (from both Chambolle and Morey fruit). A slightly riper though still appealingly fresh nose combines notes of red and black cherry along with spice hints and a background suggestion of kirsch. There is a lovely sense of delicacy and refinement to the reasonably concentrated flavors that possess a gorgeous acid/fruit/tannin balance on the hugely long finale where a touch of wood slowly emerges. This is not what I would describe as a classic Bonnes Mares but it is nonetheless a gorgeous wine, indeed calling it a Bonnes Mares of finesse would be apt. Drink 2035+. |

| VM 93-95 (1/2018): (just 20 hectoliters per hectare produced; 50% new oak): Medium bright red. Denser, darker and more serious on the nose than the other Volnay premier crus at this address, offering mineral-driven scents of black cherry, spices and licorice. Wonderfully elegant and fine-grained, combining Outstanding volume and an impression of finesse and weightlessness. Conveys a small-berry concentration and near-perfect balance, finishing with refined tannins and terrific length and lift. This stunning Volnay is wonderfully approachable today but I suspect it will shut down a bit by the time it's bottled and benefit from five to eight years of cellaring. Stephen Tanzer. |

| BH 93 (4/2019): (from a .60 ha parcel). A whiff of spiced herbal tea sits atop the array of naturally exotic red and dark pinot fruit where an interesting hint of tangerine skin lurks in the background. BH 93 (4/2020): An equally ripe nose speaks of cassis, black raspberry, spiced tea and similar floral whiffs. The mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is classy and sophisticated thanks to the super-fine-grained tannins shaping the lacy, lilting and strikingly long finish. This is excellent and very much worth your interest. Drink 2030+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! WA 94 (1/2020): Invariably a highlight of the portfolio, Boillot's 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets derives from a low-yielding 60-are parcel of 55-year-old vines. Unfurling in the glass with a deep bouquet of wild berries, plums, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its concentrated core of vibrant fruit underlined by succulent acids and framed by chalky tannins. This is a brilliant wine that's worth a special effort to seek out. |

Here the pure and ripe nose offers yet another level of spiciness that includes clove, anise and sandalwood that adds breadth of the aromas of black raspberry, violet, rose petal and tea. BH 91 (4/2013): (from 25+ year old vines). A deft touch of wood sets off the notably ripe mix of cassis and various dark berries that elegantly introduces the cool, pure and energetic flavors that seemed fashioned from nothing but silk and satin, all wrapped in a delicate, refined and beautifully balanced finish. This is a classic Chevret of matchless finesse. Drink 2018+. VM 91-93 (2/2013): Bright red-ruby. Rather brooding aromas of cassis, blackberry, smoke and licorice are pure and discreet. Surprisingly rich on entry, then lush and seamless in the middle, but with very good acidity framing and lifting the black fruit and game flavors. The powerful, rising finish features building tannins and a distinct thick-skinned character. The old vines in Boillot's parcel were strongly affected by millerandage, which largely explains this wine's extra measure of texture and concentration. Boillot noted that his 2011s generally have 3.8 to 4 grams per liter of acidity following the malos, which is quite healthy for the vintage. |

| VM 91-93 (1/2018): (from four parcels of vines between 40 and 60 years of age; fruit in the lower section of the vineyard was wiped out by the frost): Healthy medium red. Slightly reduced nose conveys and medicinal dark raspberry aroma. Then fine-grained and graceful in the mouth, conveying an impression of delicacy to the flavors of raspberry, currant and flowers. Finishes quite suave and long, with very refined tannins. The Boillots made just 10 barrels in place of a normal 30, 3 of them new. Stephen Tanzer. |

VM 90-92 (1/2015): Bright, dark red. Reticent, rather wild aromas of dark cherry and underbrush. Energetic but backward; much tighter today than the village wine and more dominated by its structure. The wild quality carries through on the palate. Best today on the back end, where fine-grained tannins spread out to saturate the palate. WA 88-90 (12/2014): The 2013 Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets comes from a single parcel of vines. The nose is well defined, dominated by the new oak at the moment, but there is sufficient fruit underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, quite dense at the moment with a touch of bell pepper on the masculine finish. Fine - if just a bit predictable. BH 88 (4/2015): Here too there are discreet floral nuances to the pretty red and dark currant scents that are liberally laced with earth and sandalwood nuances. There is a bit more volume to the medium-bodied flavors that retain a lovely sense of detail on the energetic, dusty and mildly austere finish though in this case there is just a hint of dryness that detracts slightly from the overall sense of balance and harmony. WA 93 (1/2020): The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets exhibits lovely aromas of raspberries and cherries mingled with orange rind, spice and raw cocoa. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and fine-boned, from more calcium-rich soils than Les Chevrets and built around bright acids and fine, chalky tannins. BH 91 (4/2020): A restrained if clearly ripe nose is comprised by notes of cassis, black cherry, violet and pretty rose petal hints. The sleeker and more refined is perhaps not quite as concentrated flavors also possess a seductive texture and even more minerality, all wrapped in a mildly warm and youthfully austere finale that is slightly firmer. This too is lovely. Drink 2028+. Outstanding! |

There is excellent volume to the slightly more concentrated middleweight flavors that flash evident minerality on the impressively complex, persistent, firm and balanced finale. This is excellent and a wine that should drink reasonably well young if you lack patience! Drink 2032+. Outstanding! VM 92-94 (1/2024): The 2022 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru presents a dark, almost somber expression of Volnay. Blue/purplish fruit, new leather, licorice and lavender infuse the 2022 with striking complexity and dimension. Gravel, dried flowers and dark spice add lovely complexity to this decidedly virile, imposing Volnay. The tannins need time to soften, but there’s plenty of fruit. Neal Martin. |

| BH 96 (6/2022): (one contiguous parcel measuring about .24 ha is spread evenly between Chassagne and Puligny; Boillot calls it his Bâtard du Milieu.) A slightly riper yet still very fresh, cool and pretty with acacia blossom, citrus confit and a beautiful array of spice wisps. There is terrific size, weight and mid-palate density to the big-bodied and powerful flavors that culminate in a lemon, very clean and hugely long finale. This is like a block at present and I wouldn't touch a bottle for the first 7 to 8 years. In a word, excellent. Drink 2032+. |

BH 93 (6/2024): (a monopole measuring .62 ha that is actually part of Les Cras.) An all but imperceptible application of wood can be detected on the more floral-suffused aromas of acacia, lilac and citrus confit nose. The vibrant and super-sleek middleweight flavors possess a sophisticated mouthfeel and excellent concentration before concluding in a stony, bitter lemon-inflected and beautifully persistent finish. This doesn't have the sheer size and weight of the Goutte d'Or but it is noticeably finer. Drink 2030+. Outstanding! VM 93-95 (1/2024): The 2022 Meursault Clos Richemont 1er Cru is a dense, opulent white built on texture more than anything else. It is one of the most overt wines in the Boillot range. Orange jam, spice, vanillin, lemon confit and baked apple tart infuse the 2022 with tons of textural intensity. This is such a distinctive wine. Neal Martin. |

BH 93 (6/2020): Naturally exotic and overtly spicy aromas include whiffs of jasmine tea, lemongrass and apple compote. The wonderfully refined and subtly stony middle weight flavors are at once intense yet delicate, all wrapped in a Zen-like finish. This is really lovely stuff and so well-balanced it should age effortlessly. Drink 2028+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! WA 93 (1/2020): The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières reveals aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, peach, spring blossom, honeycomb and praline, followed by a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated palate that's chalky and structured, built around lively acids and appreciable dry extract. |

| BH 93 (6/2021): A beautifully complex, naturally exotic and broad-ranging nose is comprised by notes of Orange pekoe tea, spice Granny Smith apples and a plethora of floral nuances. The beautifully precise mineral-driven flavors also possess really lovely underlying tension before concluding in a bitter lemon inflected and youthfully austere finale. This chiseled effort should also easily reward a decade or more of cellaring. Drink 2029+. |

BH 90 (6/2025): An exuberantly floral-suffused nose speaks of the essence of pear, apple and just sliced lemon. This mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is really quite sleek with fine delineation and a subtle minerality adding a sense of lift to the youthfully austere finale. This lovely and balanced effort could use better depth so plan on at least a few years of bottle aging. (Drink starting 2029). VM 87-89 (2/2025): Boillot’s 2023 Puligny-Montrachet is a fairly straightforward, easygoing wine. Floral top notes, spice and a touch of tropical fruit open nicely. All this needs is a bit more depth in the mid-palate, something that seems missing here but is evident in many other wines, including the village Meursault. (Drink between 2025-2029). Antonio Galloni. |

BH 94 (6/2013): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A very mild hint of reduction reduces the expressiveness of the otherwise cool and pure floral, citrus rind, stone and soft spice notes. There is plenty of volume to the rich, intense and mouth coating middle weight flavors that exude a fine minerality on the gorgeously complex, strikingly well-delineated and bone dry finish. This saline-infused and clearly built-to-age effort is spectacular. Drink 2021+. Don't miss! Outstanding! VM 93-95 (9/2012): (4.5 g/l acidity with a pH of 3.09, according to Boillot): Bright pale yellow. Subtly complex aromas of stone fruits, wild herbs, coffee, flowers and saline minerality. Creamy, classy and suave, with captivating flavors of caramel and beurre sale lifted by a brisk citrus element. Wonderfully dense, dry and uncompromising wine with superb lift and a very long, mounting finish. WA 93-95 (8/2012): The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchere is one of the most understated of the Puligny premier crus. At first rather closed, the Clos de la Mouchere blossoms as soon as intense, saline notes hit the mid-palate. Here, too, there is considerable energy in the glass, but in a much less obvious style than the Pucelles. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. |

WA 94+ (10/2015): Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has a captivating, mineral-driven, sea-spray-tinged bouquet that is complex and compelling. The palate is very well balanced with finely tuned acidity, harmonious and poised, though a Puligny-Montrachet that is only just beginning to show what it can do. Cellar this for four to six years and see what comes out the other side, as it could merit an even higher evaluation then. VM 94 (9/2014): Outstanding lift to the aromas of lime and crushed stone. Silky, smooth and magically light on its feet, displaying Outstanding energy and cut to its lemon, lime and spicy oak flavors. This tastes like it's from another vintage than the Combettes. The bracing, extremely long finish hints at huge dry extract without coming across as phenolic or dry. The crop level here was just 25 hectoliters per hectare, according to Boillot. BH 93 (6/2014): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) The nose is markedly reduced and I would strongly suggest decanting this if you're tempted to try a bottle young. The intensely mineral-driven middle weight plus flavors possess Outstanding mid-palate concentration with an abundance of palate coating dry extract, all wrapped in a wonderfully vibrant and highly persistent finish. I very much like the balance as this is a big yet stylish effort that should amply repay medium-term cellaring. Drink 2019+. |

| VM 92-95 (9/2016): Bright lemon-yellow. Tight, pure scents of peach and spices; slightly reduced. Then huge, broad and mouthfilling yet almost magically light on its feet thanks to strong minerality. Tactile and dynamic for the vintage, finishing with slowly building length and terrific mineral force. Boillot believes his 2015s will drink early and late but I'd rather enjoy this one with at least a few years of bottle age. Stephen Tanzer. |

BH 96 (6/2018): ( from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A highly restrained nose requires considerable swirling to liberate the beautifully well-layered aromas of mineral reduction, white rose, spice, citrus and a wisp of exotic tea. Like the Pucelles there is excellent richness and detail and much more minerality-suffusing the almost painfully intense finale that is breathtaking in its persistence. This is a gem of a Puligny 1er and in 2016 is a lovely blend of power and finesse. In sum, this is a knockout. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding! VM 93-95 (9/2017): (13.3% alcohol with 4.5 grams per liter acidity; cropped at 38 hectoliters per hectare, from vines up to 80 years of age): Bright light-medium yellow. Utterly pure scents of stone fruits, apricot, nuts and honeysuckle. Rich, deep, silky and moderately saline but also powerful and backward, displaying terrific precision and purity in the mouth. A superb, classic Clos de la Mouchère: utterly plush and seamless without being heavy or over the top. Boillot noted that he will slowly replant these very old vines in a series of tranches over the next 15 to 25 years. Stephen Tanzer. |

BH 94 (6/2020): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) A whiff of matchstick is present on the elegant and highly restrained aromas of acacia blossom, spice, white orchard fruit and a hint of Asian-style tea. There is excellent volume and minerality to the strikingly textured medium-bodied flavors that display outstanding complexity on the balanced, dry and impressively persistent finish. This is one very classy wine that is already wonderfully harmonious. Drink 2028+. Don't miss! Outstanding! WA 95 (1/2020): Boillot's emblematic 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère has turned out brilliantly, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, hazelnut, dried white flowers, citrus oil, blanched almonds and smoke. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with terrific concentration, searing levels of extract and a long, mineral finish. |

There is excellent volume and mid-palate density to the mouth coating and caressing middle weight flavors that culminate in a lemony finish that is hugely long if perhaps not quite as crisp. | BH 96 (6/2022): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières). This is perhaps the most floral-suffused nose in the range with its aromas of essence of pear and plenitude of spice and citrus elements. Once again, the mid-palate mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is absolutely gorgeous, which contrasts noticeably with the cuts-like-a-knife finish that remains ultra-refined, balanced and persistent. This is most impressive, particularly for the remarkably fine volume and power that is delivered with grace and class. Drink 2030+. |

| BH 94 (6/2023): Cool, airy and very pretty aromas of the essence of pear, exotic tea, spice and acacia blossom are trimmed in an admirably discreet touch of oak. BH 96 (6/2024): (from 60+ year old vines and the vineyard is a whopping 4 ha monopole within Perrières.) VM 93-95 (1/2024): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Mouchère 1er Cru is one of the most shut down of the whites in this vast range. Mineral and savory notes abound, but fruit is decidedly pushed into the background. Citrus confit, crushed rocks, mint and white pepper all race across the palate. There's quite a bit of youthful austerity at this stage, but this should come together in time. A whole range of complex floral and tropical nuances linger. Neal Martin. |

BH 93 (6/2013): A cool and pure nose features notes of citrus peel, pear, apple, wet stone and white peach. This is terrific. Drink 2018+. Sweet Spot Outstanding! VM 91-93 (9/2012): Bright, medium yellow-green. Quite closed on the nose, hinting at white peach, acacia flower and lichee. Dry, saline and very youthful, with complex flavors of white peach, stone, menthol and noble herbs given definition and lift by firm acidity. Long and primary on the aftertaste. WA 90-92 (8/2012): The 2011 Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrieres is rich, sweet and densely layered. It possesses a floral, honeyed expression of fruit that is highly attractive. BH 94 (6/2024): Cool aromas of mostly white flowers and apple are trimmed in an almost pungent minerality, indeed this too is like sniffing wet rocks. The precise and intensely stony middleweight flavors possess a refined mouthfeel that carries over to the precise, youthfully austere and tightly wound finale. This balanced effort is seriously good but also a wine that is going to require extended patience. This is absolutely a wine to look for. Dirnk 2032+. Outstanding! VM 92-94 (1/2024): The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Perrières 1er Cru is a heady explosive wine endowed with tremendous depth and textural intensity. Crushed rocks, mint, graphite, tangerine oil and insistent saline notes all meld together as this potent, driving Puligny makes its presence felt. BH 91 (6/2014): White orchard fruit and the hallmark honeysuckle scents give way to punchy and impressively concentrated medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly refined mouth feel if not the sheer depth of the Clos de la Mouchère. To be sure this is a lovely wine that could aptly be described as notably bigger and more powerful than is typical for Pucelles. Drink 2018+. Outstanding! VM 92-95 (10/2013): Green-tinged medium yellow. Ripe stone fruits, pear, honey and hazelnut on the inviting nose and palate. Fat, rich and chewy; this extract-rich wine boasts terrific solidity and depth of fruit. Finishes with Outstanding force and length. Has the palate presence of a grand cru. (Incidentally, there's no Folatieres in 2012; Boillot only made his domain bottlings from Puligny-Montrachet.) |
