WA 94 (1/2021): A tensile, racy wine—two-thirds from Pernand-Vergelesses, one-third from Aloxe-Corton—the 2018 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with scents of white flowers, orange oil, buttery pastry and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, it's chiseled and saline, with impressive cut and grip.
BH 91-93 (6/2020): (the proportions have changed again and in 2018 are in a 35/65% proportion from Les Languettes in Aloxe and En Charlemagne in Pernand.) A restrained, ultra-fresh and distinctly floral nose reflects notes of various white orchard fruit aromas, lemon zest and discreet wood toast. There is outstanding volume to the rich and succulent broad-shouldered flavors that possess focused power on the beautifully long and sappy mineral-infused finish that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This isn't quite as structured as the Chevalier, but it too is promising. Drink 2028+. |

| BH 91 (6/2021): Here too strong aromas of reduction and SO2 completely overshadow the underlying fruit so be sure to decant this if you're tempted to try a bottle young. More interesting are the citrusy and delicious middle weight flavors that possess both good body and a chalky minerality on the lemony, very dry and focused finale that is just a bit firmer still. Unlike several of the preceding wines that should be approachable young, this is going to need at least a few years to absorb the sulfur and better harmonize. Drink 2026+. |
