| WA 92 (8/2018): The impressive 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 3% Cinsault and 2% Counoise, all aged in concrete. It shows lovely cherry-raspberry fruit aromas, ample weight and richness on the palate and a creamy texture. The tannins are supple, and the finish is long, picking up hints of cola and dried spices. A solid choice for drinking over the next decade. |

WA 92 (8/2018): Mainly Roussanne, Durieu's 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is a concentrated, full-bodied effort that melds lively green apple, lime and peach notes with a rich, creamy texture and a long, zesty finish. It should drink well for 6-7 years. VM 89 (10/2018): Limpid yellow. Fresh and focused on the nose, displaying mineral-accented Meyer lemon and pear aromas and a hint of anise. Taut and spicy in the mouth, offering bitter citrus pith and quinine flavors and a hint of florality. Closes chewy and youthfully taut, with a repeating floral note and gentle spiciness. (Drink between 2022-2027). Josh Raynolds. |
