| VM 95 (1/2018): Volume, power and breadth are the signatures of the 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia. This is the first vintage in which Colonia falls in line with the rest of the Fèlsina range from a stylistic standpoint. Among other things, the use of French oak is much more measured than it was in Colonia's first vintages. Next to the flagship Rancia, Colonia is a sleeker, and perhaps a bit more polished, although it doesn't quite offer the same direct expression of Sangiovese. Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 96 (2/2019): The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colonia is the richest and most overt of Fèlsina's three top Sangioveses (the other two being Rancia and Fontalloro). Dark and explosive in the glass, the 2015 Colonia possesses layers of super-ripe dense fruit to match its decidedly virile, muscular personality. As always, Colonia has a stronger French oak imprint than the other wines in the range, but the oak is better balanced today than it was in the first few years. The 2015 is an impressive Colonia. (Drink between 2025-2045). Antonio Galloni. |

WA 91 (12/2002): The brilliant 1999 Chianti Classico Rancia requires 1-3 more years of bottle age. Revealing a deep garnet/ruby/purple color as well as a tightly-knit personality, it offers notes of leather, black cherries, currants, earth, and compost. In the mouth, there is considerable depth, medium to full body, moderately high tannin, and a firm, Bordeaux-like structure super-imposed on the wine's fruit characteristics. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015. WS 91 (9/2002): Very pretty aromas of crushed raspberries and fresh flowers. Full-bodied, yet refined and caressing. All in finesse and complexity. One of the best in Chianti Classico. Best after 2002. 2,915 cases made. |

WA 95 (6/2008): I have tasted Felsina’s 2004 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia on at least three separate occasions and have never been anything less than deeply impressed. This is a serious Chianti endowed with endless layers of sweet dark cherries, smoke, minerals, flowers and sweet toasted oak. With air the layers fill out, revealing an expansive, richly-textured wine of pure breed. At times the wine has been incredibly primary and brooding, while at other times it has shown the sheer power it holds in reserve. This is a great effort from Felsina. Simply put, it is a wine fit for kings and queens. Rancia also happens to be one of the finest values in wine today. Needless to say, it is highly recommended. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024. VM 95 (8/2007): Impressive dark ruby color. Expressive aromas of blackcurrant, plum, mint and cigar box, all lifted by a mineral element. Dense and rich, combining pinot noir-like texture and refinement with syrah-like flavors of rare meat and raspberry liqueur. This boasts a wonderfully tactile feel and a remarkably long, palate-staining finish. A great Chianti with loads of personality. WS 90 (10/2007): Full-bodied, with lots of blackberry. Has a citrusy, light oak edge, with fine tannins and a clean finish. Layered and rich. Best after 2008. 3,165 cases made. |

WA 94 (10/2010): The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia bursts onto the palate in a big, brooding expression of Sangiovese from Castelnuovo Berardenga. Muscular and dense to the core, the 2007 powers all the way through to the long finish. Hints of smoke, tar, leather and scorched earth emerge over time, but only with great reluctance. In a vintage where so many wines are open, the Rancia comes across as quite stubborn and in need of at least five more years in bottle. That said, it is a standout, not to mention one of the greatest values in fine, age-worthy wine. In a second tasting the 2007 Rancia came across as decidedly more elegant and restrained in style, so it will be interesting to see where this ultimately settles within the context of recent vintages. Today I don’t think the 2007 has the elegance of the 2004 nor the power and ageworthiness of the 2006, but we will see. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027. VM 92 (8/2010): (100% sangiovese; 14% alcohol) Dark red. Fresh red cherry, bay leaf and underbrush aromas are complemented by a strong mineral nuance. Starts silky, then turns minerally, brisk and firm in the middle, showing a penetrating quality to the red cherry, ripe plum and delicate herbal flavors. Finishes seamless and very long, but I found this to be a somewhat more backward, imploded example of Rancia than usual. WS 91 (9/2010): Racy and rich, with chewy tannins that are polished and attractive. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a clean finish. Offers lots of richness. Drink now. 3,750 cases made. |

| WA 95 (8/2013): The 2010 Chianti Classico Reserva Rancia is chiseled and focused. It offers a full spectrum of Sangiovese characteristics with balsamic herb and medicinal tones followed by crushed stone and delicate clove or nutmeg. Rancia is equally impressive in the mouth with firm structure and enduring fruit flavors. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. |

| VM 96 (1/2018): A huge, vibrant wine, the 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia will need at least a few years in bottle to be approachable and much more than that to be at its best. Huge swaths of tannin give the wine its energy and feel. The essence of Sangiovese from Castelnuovo Berardenga comes through loud and clear. Readers should expect an especially virile, potent Rancia in 2013. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 92 (12/2002): The forward 100% Sangiovese, barrique-aged 1999 Fontalloro's deep purple color is followed by a big, sweet, luscious perfume of spicy, toasty oak, cedar, fruitcake, leather, espresso, and black currants. Medium to full-bodied, with great fruit on the attack and mid-palate, and a long, opulent finish, this dazzling Italian red will drink well for 6-12 years. WS 91 (10/2002): A big and rich, super Sangiovese, with plum and floral aromas that follow through to a full-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a long, long, elegant finish. A beauty. Best after 2004. 2,915 cases made. |

| WA 94 (8/2009): The 2006 Fontalloro is much more sweet and open than the firmer Rancia. Enticing, expressive aromatics lead to an expansive core of fruit. Round, finessed tannins give the wine an additional level of polish. Today the Fontalloro is fleshier and more ready than the Rancia. There is superb purity to the fruit and wonderful overall balance. Tar, smoke, licorice, and grilled herbs come to life on the finish. Fontalloro is made from vineyards in both the Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi appellations. Simply put, this is a great, majestic Fontalloro. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2018. |

| WA 93 (10/2010): The 2007 Fontalloro is round, sweet and inviting, very much in keeping with the style of the vintage. The fruit tends towards the redder end of the spectrum vis-a-vis the Rancia and the Fontalloro seems to possess a touch more freshness. Floral, spiced notes add lift on the finish. As attractive as the 2007 Fontalloro is, and it is very pretty, the wine does not have a particularly bright track record of developing the noblest aromas and flavors in bottle. In my experience, it is better to err on the side of youth in deciding when to drink Fontalloro. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. |

WA 96 (2/2016): Gorgeous and soft, the 2013 Fontalloro is another landmark wine from this classic vintage. There is enormous intensity here and the wine is only at the beginning of its long aging trajectory. I suggest you put off drinking it for five to ten more years. There is evident thickness and generosity here, especially in the way those bold fruit favors are woven between dark spice and leather. There are sour accents on the close that remind you of the wine's youth. The tannins are fine and well integrated. JS 95 (7/2016): Aromas of plums, clay tiles and sage follow through to a full to medium body, silky tannins and a linear and racy finish. Love the underlying freshness and brightness to this. Excellent. A little tannic now, so better in 2018. VM 94 (10/2016): The 2013 Fontalloro shows the richer, creamier style of the vintage while maintaining plenty of Fèlsina character. Silky tannins wrap around a core of dark stone fruits as the 2013 shows off its personality. Fontalloro naturally doesn’t have the pure energy of Rancia, but it will drink well with just a few more years in bottle. Fontalloro is the most overt and ripe of the Fèlsina wines with the exception of the Colonia. A hint of French oak shapes the supple, inviting finish. Antonio Galloni. WS 92 (3/2017): Cherry, plum, tobacco and tar flavors are shaded by vanilla and coconut notes in this youthful red, which turns more austere on the finish but resonates with persistence and equilibrium. Sangiovese. Best from 2018 through 2026. 3,350 cases made. |
