WA 92 (10/2006): The cask-aged 2001 Barbaresco Rabaja is very spiced on the nose, with a balsamic character that gradually reveals itself as the wine sits in the glass. Though somewhat shut down today, it displays plenty of dark fruit and Outstanding structure, with a gorgeous note of menthol on the fresh finish. It will require at least a few years of bottle aging prior to offering its best drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016. WS 90 (12/2004): Open aromas of strawberry and cedar, with hints of tea. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a licorice and fruit aftertaste. Very nice wine. Best after 2006. 1,400 cases made. VM 86 (12/2004): Good full medium red. Raspberry, mocha, mushroom and sweet nutty oak on the nose. Juicy and moderately concentrated, with a restrained sweetness. Some nut skin notes (from old oak?) make this a bit dull for the vintage. Finishes a tad dry. |

| JS 87 (2/2014): This is very ripe and chewy with austere tannins that dry your palate. Stewed fruit, too. Full body. Drink or hold. A little disappointing. |
