WS 97 (12/2010): Very tight and shy on the nose, featuring sweet cherry, plum, licorice and salty mineral flavors. Delivers fine sweetness and intensity, with elegance and a sense of harmony and grace. This is almost approachable now, yet should develop beautifully. Best from 2013 through 2030. 500 cases made.   WA 96 (12/2010): The 2006 Barolo Cannubi/S.Lorenzo-Ravera is surprisingly rich and opulent in this vintage. Sweet red cherries, menthol, spices and flowers emerge with gorgeous inner perfume and great body. This shows incredible power and richness through to the round enveloping finish, where sweet roses and cherries in liqueur linger for an eternity. Readers who are used to squeaky-clean wines might take issue with the volatile acidity here, but with time in the glass all of the elements come together beautifully, suggesting all the wine needs is time. This is one of the most impressive vintages of the Cannubi/San Lorenzo I can remember tasting. I could smell this all day. It is a knockout! Anticipated maturity: 2021-2036.   VM 90-92 (12/2009): Reduced nose hints at liqueur-like dark fruits and leather. Then broad, sweet and silky, with a dominant flavor of raspberry liqueur. In a somewhat decadent style, like a wine from Bonneau. Finishes with substantial ripe but slightly dry tannins. |

		| WA 94 (6/2013): The 2009 Cannubi S. Lorenzo - Ravera shows similar tones of dark tobacco leaf and herb. But this expression also delivers a dusty mineral note that beautifully frames and delineates the overall bouquet. The big surprise is due to the crisp freshness of this wine. Thanks to that acidity, you can count on the wine’s aging potential. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. |

WS 95 (12/2015): Classic notes of rose, cherry, licorice and tar are the hallmarks of this firm yet succulent red. Fine harmony and excellent length, along with a solid structure, should allow this red to develop nicely over the next 10 to 12 years. Best from 2018 through 2033. 500 cases made.   WA 93 (6/2015): The 2011 Barolo Brunate shows dazzle and pizzazz with a good sense of density and structure at the back. Its tight, svelte texture wraps smoothly over the palate. Bright aromas of cherry, dark fruit, balsam herb, rosemary oil, cola and crushed mineral appear with clear definition and energy. Because of the warm vintage, this wine went into bottle six months earlier than average to allow for a longer evolution in glass.   VM 92 (3/2015): The 2011 Barolo Brunate has finally begun to awaken from its post-bottling slumber. Surprisingly open for a young Rinaldi Barolo, the 2011 is round, spherical and supple. Leather, smoke, menthol and tobacco wrap around a plump, juicy core of dark Brunate fruit. The 2011 is almost shockingly accessible. The breadth and creaminess of Brunate is evident, but at the same time, the Brunate is also clearly marked by the ripeness of the vintage. It will be interesting to see if the pedigree of Brunate comes to the fore with further time in bottle. At this point, the Barolo Tre Tine is fresher and better balanced. |

VM 94 (3/2016): The 2012 Barolo Brunate is powerful and dense in the glass, but also quite expressive for such a young wine. Dark, and brooding, with fabulous mid-palate richness and depth, the 2012 packs a serious punch. Readers will find a Barolo that brings together a slightly slender, cool-climate sense of structure with good early approachability, all of which make the 2012 quite appealing even in its youth. A blast of sweet red cherry, plum, licorice, leather and spices leaves a strong and lasting impression. Antonio Galloni.   WS 94 (7/2016): A mix of sour cherry, raspberry, spice and tobacco leaf flavors highlights this light-footed, silky red. Firmly structured, with a lining of dusty tannins on the lingering finish. Ripe yet fresh. Best from 2018 through 2035. 550 cases made.   WA 92 (6/2016): The 2012 Barolo Brunate was a bit closed when I tasted it. This wine's ideal drinking window is a long ways away and the bottle needs another decade of cellar aging before it starts to show its best side. The bouquet offers hints of ripe fruit with dark cherry and blackberry at the front. Those fruity tones are followed by mild tobacco, cola and grilled herb. True to the vineyard site, the Barolo Brunate offers a more profound sense of depth and structure at the back. The mouthfeel is robust and generous. |

		| VM 97+ (2/2017): Rinaldi's 2013 Barolo Brunate is dark, sensual and super-inviting. A wine of restraint, the 2013 is endowed with terrific depth and tons of personality. At the same time, the 2013 is not an explosive wine (like the 2010), but rather a Barolo that speaks to total finesse. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, menthol, violet and hard candy inflections give the 2013 much of its exceptional beauty and resonance. The wine's sheer inner sweetness makes it nearly impossible to put down the glass. |

WA 93 (6/2018): The Giuseppe Rinaldi 2014 Barolo Brunate is a darkly saturated expression with important textural richness and lasting dark fruit flavors. Marta Rinaldi tells me that she lost up to 40% of her Brunate fruit in 2014 because of a violent hail storm. That natural yield reduction has done much to increase the power and concentration of this lovely Barolo. Blackberry, sour cherry and wild plum segue to grilled herb and citrusy orange peel.   VM 92 (2/2018): A Barolo of midweight structure and persistence, the 2014 Brunate comes across as a wine that will drink well with minimal cellaring. The 2014 offers fine balance in a decidedly gracious, understated style. Naturally, the dimension and breadth of the very best years aren't quite there. Antonio Galloni. |

WA 96 (6/2019): The 2015 Barolo Brunate benefits from a thicker soil profile in this vineyard that consequently bumps the wine's aromatic intensity and staying power up a notch or two. This wine is almost crunchy in texture, with a subtle snap or crackle as it hits the palate. It shows enormous beauty and richness with a dark fruit profile followed by elements of spice, tar, tobacco and moist potting soil. There are floral notes as well with rose and lavender. This wine will reward those with the patience to wait. Drink 2021-2045   VM 93 (2/2019): Rinaldi's Barolo Brunate is refined and light on its feet in 2015, with a bit less structure and overall depth than is the norm. That is not at all surprising, as the 2015 Brunate has always been a relatively light wine by Rinaldi standards. Dark red cherry, plum, licorice, sage and balsamic notes shape this expressive yet understated Barolo from Rinaldi. Antonio Galloni. |

VM 95 (2/2021): The 2017 Barolo Brunate is a dark, powerful wine. A huge swath of tannins gives the Brunate its feeling of gravitas. Readers will have to be patient with the 2017, as it is going to need a number of years to come together. Dark cherry fruit, lavender, sage, licorice, spice and earthy notes build into a crescendo of aromas and flavors that is just captivating. The 2017 finishes with tremendous substance and intensity, both of which bode so well for the future. Antonio Galloni.   WA 95 (3/2021): Keeping in line with the personality of the vintage, the 2017 Barolo Brunate is open and deeply expressive on first nose, with inviting waves of dark fruit, pressed violet, rust and licorice that add considerably to the lifted intensity of the bouquet. This Brunate puts its power and its deep, inner elegance right out there for you to enjoy. However, it also promises better things to those willing to wait for the wine to complete its bottle evolution over the coming decades. The palate is delicately lean, but long and polished, with important tannic fiber at the back. The 2017 growing season offered no moisture during the hottest weeks of summer, yet these tenacious grapevines and their extended root systems found a way to survive and thrive. |

VM 97 (9/2014): The 2010 Barolo Tre Tine is classic and austere to the core. Here, the blend of sites yields a massively tannic, old-school Barolo that is for the exceedingly patient. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco, cedar and licorice are some of the many notes that flesh out in the glass. The 2010 is incredibly focused, with tons of Le Coste in its flavor profile, but above all else, in its structure. Intense, searing tannins support the finish. Most people will desperately want the Brunate, and with good reason. It is a magical wine. But readers should not forget the Tre Tine. It is much less showy today, but in many ways it is a more typical Rinaldi Barolo for its sense of classic austerity.   WS 93 (12/2014): Juicy cherry, raspberry and currant flavors are accented by flowers, tea and tobacco in this elegant, intense red. Long and harmonious, with a lingering aftertaste of fruit, spice and mineral. Best from 2017 through 2032. 550 cases made. |

VM 94 (3/2016): The 2012 Barolo Tre Tine is lifted, precise and gracious, with beams of firm supporting tannin that give the wine its energy and sense of proportion. Tasted next to the Brunate, the Tre Tine is distinctly more aromatic, delicate and feminine in style, with plenty of bright red fruit and floral overtones. I also tasted the 2012 from a bottle opened two days prior, and the wine had retained pretty much all of its precision. Although the Brunate is the most coveted wine at Rinaldi, the Tre Tine has been impressive in its first three vintages. The 2012 is no exception. Tre Tine is a blend of fruit from the Rinaldi family's holdings in Cannubi (San Lorenzo), Ravera and Le Coste.   WA 93 (6/2016): Formally known as Barolo Cannubi S. Lorenzo - Ravera, this wine has been renamed Tre Tine. The 2012 Barolo Tre Tine is a beautifully fragrant and elegantly perfumed Nebbiolo with a graceful and ethereal approach. This is traditional Barolo in its highest and most distinguished form. The bouquet offers pressed rose, licorice, tobacco, cola, dried fruit and white truffle. The quality of these aromas is pristine and sharp. Barolo Tre Tine takes a similar approach on the palate with long, silky tannins. This wine is built to last. |
