WA 87-90 (6/1997): This wine possesses admirable potential, yet the high level of hard tannin in the finish raises reservations about its overall balance. Nevertheless, there are plenty of positive characteristics to be found in this opaque purple-colored wine. Exhibiting sweet, earthy, cassis-scented fruit, the wine is medium to full-bodied and dense, with potentially Outstanding raw materials. Let's hope the winery does not strip the aromas, fruit, and body out of the wine by too much processing prior to bottling. If this wine remains intact, it should be one of the finest regular Cabernets Hess Collection has yet produced. (Tasted in barrel.)
