WA 94 (6/2011): A beautiful opaque purple color is accompanied by equally attractive notes of spring flowers, charcoal, creme de cassis and blueberry liqueur. Richly fruity, pure, full-bodied and layered, this voluptuously textured, dramatic, flamboyant Cabernet Sauvignon needs 2-4 more years of cellaring to hit its prime and should keep for two decades thereafter. VM 91 (6/2004): Good full medium ruby. High-pitched aromas of violet, mint and bitter chocolate, with a hint of eucalyptus. Fat and sweet on entry, then quite lively in the middle, with distinctly rocky flavors of blackberry, shoe polish and black licorice, plus a whiff of fennel. From vines planted in 1992 on a southeast-facing knoll rich in boulders and shale; the fruit used to be sold to Duckhorn. Strong on personality. |

WA 93 (6/2012): A dark opaque plum/garnet/purple color is followed by a beautiful, fully evolved bouquet of spring flowers, black currant jam, blackberries and hints of dark raspberries, camphor and acacia flowers. Silky, full-bodied and voluptuously textured, this opulent, expansive, generously endowed, fully mature Cabernet Sauvignon should be consumed over the next 5-6 years. VM 92 (6/2005): Saturated red-ruby color. Superripe, liqueur-like aromas of candied berries, iron, fennel and black licorice. Sweet, thick flavors of currant, blackberry and licorice. A big, rich, youthfully aggressive wine that needs a year or two to harmonize. Finishes with ripe, dusty, very broad tannins that coat the palate. From a vineyard just off the valley floor, planted on fractured shale over bedrock. Stephen Tanzer. WS 92 (11/2005): Dark, ripe, rich and concentrated, with a tight beam of cedar, currant, lead pencil and wild berry that fans out nicely on the finish, showing a firm band of tannins. Best from 2007 through 2013. 550 cases made. |
