WA 93 (4/2013): Raspberry jam, mocha, spices, flowers and tobacco flesh out in the 2010 Proprietary Red Blend Nicole's, a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend with dollops of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Intense and full-bodied, yet also impeccable in its balance, the 2010 is all about harmony. This is yet another hugely delicious 2010 from Lancaster Estate. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. VM 92 (5/2014): Inky ruby. Sexy, intensely perfumed aromas of dark berry liqueur, cherry pit, vanillin oak and roasted coffee, with a hint of pipe tobacco in the background. Fleshy and broad on the palate, offering sweet blackberry, cassis and cherry-vanilla flavors nicely lifted by juicy acidity. Finishes smoky and very long, with resonating spiciness and round, harmonious tannins. While I have no doubt that this wine will age smoothly, there's a lot going on already, especially if you like to drink your cab-based wines on the fruity side. Josh Raynolds. |

VM 92 (2/2014): The 2011 Nicole's Proprietary Red Blend is beautiful. Focused, articulate and very nicely balanced, the 2011 is super-impressive. Dark red/blackish fruit, graphite, iron, smoke, leather, licorice and tobacco grace the palate in a wine that combines richness with finesse. The long finish alone is striking. The 2011 will drink well pretty much upon release and for another decade beyond that. Antonio Galloni. WA 91 (4/2015): Showing much better than when previously tasted, the 2011 Nicole’s Proprietary Red , a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec, shows beautiful blackcurrant, blueberry fruit, a floral note, nicely integrated oak, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, a savory, plush, rather sumptuous texture and no hard edges. Everything is nicely integrated into this Bordeaux blend, which displays lots of complexity and plenty of character. It should drink well for 12-15 years, although it is certainly approachable now and already beginning to show some secondary nuances and complexity. |

WA 91-94 (12/2014): The 2012 Proprietary Red Nicole’s is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Malbec and Merlot put together by winemaking consultant David Ramey. This is a beauty, with blueberry, sweet camphor and charcoal notes intermixed with blackcurrant and a touch of subtle barrique aromas. It’s dense, medium to full-bodied, pure and lushly textured. About 740 cases were produced of this outstanding proprietary red. Drink now-2028. VM 91-93 (2/2014): Lancaster's 2012 Nicole's Proprietary Red Blend bursts from the glass with rose petals, dark red berries, cinnamon, cloves and menthol. Next to the 2011, the 2012 fills out in all directions; the aromatics are wonderfully expressive, yet there is plenty of fruit and structure. Antonio Galloni. |

| WA 89-91 (3/2016): Three barrel samples not yet in bottle include the 2013 Proprietary Red Nicole’s. This shows a good bit of graphite and toasty new oak, blackcurrants and blackberries, although not the supple, fleshy mid-palate of the Sophia’s. However there is a lot of extract and richness in this full-bodied, powerful wine. Give it several more years of cellaring and drink it over the following 15+ years. |
