JD 98 (5/2023): The 2016 Barolo has a medium ruby hue and offers more rich concentration in its notes of ripe red cherry, spiced plum, balsamic, and licorice. Ripe with sweet velveteen tannins and raspberry liqueur, it has layers of apricot and fresh earth that unfold with more depth and persistence. This beautiful wine has a lot of charm now and will be wonderful over the coming decades. Audrey Frick. WA 93+ (7/2020): Here's a classic interpretation of this vintage and a wine that will bring a big return on such a relatively small investment with proper cellaring. The 2016 Barolo is a tonic and compact expression of Nebbiolo that will flesh out and take on more volume with time. This estate is based in the comune or village of La Morra, known for graceful, floral and softly textured Baroli. However, this wine is a blend of fruit from Annunziata and Berri in La Morra and Perno in Monforte d'Alba. This vintage offers the power and grit that will carry it forward, and with 45,000 bottles made, you should be able to get your hands on a case of it easily. VM 91 (2/2020): The 2016 Barolo is a gorgeous entry-level offering. Crushed flowers, cedar, sweet pipe tobacco, dried herbs and mint all lift from the glass effortlessly. Hints of dried cherry, pomegranate and earthiness appear later. I would prefer to drink this mid-weight, delicate, aromatic Barolo over the next handful of years, before the fruit fades. This is such a pretty wine, especially in its peer group. (Drink between 2020-2028). Antonio Galloni. |

WA 95 (8/2023): The Molino family shows a deft hand with Nebbiolo, as is illustrated by the 2019 Barolo. This wine shows great harmony, a lightweight style and a polished mouthfeel, with strong power too. The aromas follow a classic Nebbiolo playlist with small currants, blue flower and rusty nail. As far as classic Barolo goes, the 2019 is about as classic as they come. This wine is especially lifted and bright. JD 93 (5/2023): Pale ruby with an orange hue, the 2019 Barolo is expressive with floral and spice, including dried flowers, fresh herbs, and pomegranate. It is medium-bodied and structured, with elegance and freshness, and strikes a balance between tension and gracefulness. Fresh with raspberries and a note of sandy earth, it is drinking well now but should not be ruled out for aging phenomenally over the next 10-12 years. Audrey Frick. VM 90 (1/2023): The 2019 Barolo is gorgeous. Bright, translucent and wonderfully expressive, the 2019 hints at a very different style here than in the past. Crushed red berry fruit, wild flowers, mint, sweet red cherry and incense are all beautifully lifted in this weightless, super-classic Barolo from Molino. Impressive. (Drink between 2024-2031). Antonio Galloni. |
