| VM 91 (5/2022): The 2006 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Nicole VV Grand Cru, from Les Chétillons, is a rich, overt wine. Hints of almond, dried flowers, spice and chamomile are signs of a Champagne that has reached a plateau in its development. Soft contours add to that impression. The 2006 is a fine choice for readers looking for a mature Champagne that offers a good deal of aromatic and flavor complexity. Dosage is 3.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2022. | VM 93 (12/2024): The 2008 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Nicole Vieilles Vignes hails from over 100-year-old vines in Les Chetillons. Rich and ample, this is an especially dense wine from Mesnil. Baked apple, dried flowers, chamomile, spice and tangerine peel all build in the glass. The 2008 is in a perfect spot for drinking today. The aromatics show the first signs of maturity, and yet the wine remains deep and quite powerful, surprisingly so. Dosage is 3.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: July 2024. (Drink between 2024-2034). | VM 90 (12/2019): The NV (2016) Brut Blanc de Blancs Delos Grand Cru is the same wine as the Extra Brut, but with dosage of 7 grams per liter. Pear, brioche, spice and orchard fruit overtones all race out of the glass. The higher dosage gives the Brut a bit more immediacy, but also results in the impression of some loss of persistence through the mid-palate and into the finish. Even so, the Delos offers plenty of appeal. Dosage: 7 gr/L. Antonio Galloni. |
