JD 98 (7/2023): Taking on a deeper ruby color, the 2021 Pinot Noir Bodega is pure and wild with delicate medicinal herbs, pine needles, and pressed violets. Medium-bodied, with broader shoulders, it has ripe tannins and more deep mineral tones of turned soil, black cherry, and tea leaf. It’s long on the palate, and although it has warming spice on the finish, there’s no heaviness. Give another couple of years and drink 2025-2045. Audrey Frick.
VM 95 (8/2023): The 2021 Pinot Noir Bodega is a powerful, driving wine. Searing mineral and savory notes give the 2021 striking energy. This potent, steely Pinot is going to need a number of years to be at its very best. Today, it is intense and quite potent, with tons of structure but less in the way of immediacy. Orange peel, chalk, rose petals and white pepper linger on the taut, nervy finish. Readers will have to be patient. (Drink between 2024-2033). Antonio Galloni.
WA 94 (10/2024): The 2021 Pinot Noir Freestone Bodega Occidental is bursting with aromas of raspberry, shiitake mushroom, black tea leaves, blood orange and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate is finely chalky and refreshing. It’s bursting with layered, floral flavors and is notably concentrated for its elegant frame. It offers a long, pure finish laced with complex, bitters-like accents and will be long lived in the cellar. |

JD 98 (7/2025): The 2023 Pinot Noir Bodega displays a darker hue in the glass. The most potent of the wines in the range, it improved over the few days that I tasted it. It reveals deep notes of forest floor in its aromas of mossy earth, dark berries, brambly resinous herbs, graphite, and wildflowers. It saturates the palate with medium to full-bodied richness and a dark mineral texture, with ripe tannins and purple flowers lasting on the finish. It offers a fantastic oceanic savory character and is a stunning wine to drink over the coming 20 years. (Drink between 2025-2045). Audrey Frick.
VM 96 (1/2025): A superb wine, the 2023 Pinot Noir Bodega captures all the best the vintage had to offer. Seamless and elegant, the 2023 is an absolute delight. Blood orange, spice, mint, tobacco and dried flowers all build in the glass. The 100% stems are present but beautifully integrated. The 2023 is a superb wine for the year and for Raen. It has plenty of youthful, coastal energy, but is not quite as austere as the two other Pinots in the range. Stellar. (Drink between 2026-2038). Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 97 (1/2026): The 2024 Pinot Noir Bodega is another seriously impressive wine in this range. Soaring aromatics are immediately alluring. Bold red-toned fruit, blood orange, spice, menthol and pomegranate caress the palate. All the elements are so well balanced. Readers will find a Pinot of exceptional finesse and nuance. | VM 93 (8/2023): The 2020 Pinot Noir Sea Field is bright, nervy and full energy. Red berry fruit, blood orange, mint, spice, tobacco, cedar and white pepper give this mid-weight, translucent Pinot a striking upper register of aromatic presence. The 2020 is classy and understated. JD 99 (7/2023): The 2021 Pinot Noir Sea Field is a transparent jeweled ruby color and takes things up a notch with its superb aromatics of ripe cherry, gravelly earth, and fresh rose petal. Medium-bodied, with sweet tannins and notes of ripe black raspberry and fresh herbs, it maintains a light sunny touch to its slightly darker profile. Drink 2025-20240. Audrey Frick.
VM 95 (8/2023): The 2021 Pinot Noir Sea Field is intensely floral and full of flavor, with cool-climate savoriness driving a core of bright, red-toned fruit. Deceptively medium in body, the 2021 has a ton of complexity waiting to emerge. Time in the glass brings out compelling inner perfume and quite a bit of nuance. But, it is tightly wound and quite reticent at this stage. (Drink between 2024-2033). Antonio Galloni.
WA 92 (10/2024): The 2021 Pinot Noir Sea Field Vineyard has layered aromas of raspberries, cranberries, tangerine peel, iodine and Angostura bitters. The palate is chalky and bright with nuanced, spicy flavors and a long, elegant finish. |

JD 97 (6/2024): The jeweled ruby-hued 2022 Pinot Noir Sea Field comes from a 4.8-acre site in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA and offers a more savory, coastally influenced profile. In the glass, it boasts aromas of wild cherries, incense, pine needles, rocky earth, and toasted spice. On the palate, it also takes on more intensity, and while it remains medium-bodied, it has crystalline purity with ripe concentration throughout, as well as ripe tannins and a clean, salty, mineral finish. It's an exceptional wine from Raen to drink over the coming 15 years. Audrey Frick.
VM 96 (1/2024): The 2022 Pinot Noir Sea Field emerges from a site adjacent to Hirsch. Dark-toned fruit, spice, new leather, menthol and gravel infuse the 2022 with notable density and pure power. Like all the Raen wines, the Sea Field was done with 100% whole clusters, but the stems are pretty much buried by the sheer intensity of the fruit. The tannins are big and imposing. WA 93 (10/2024): Grapes for the 2022 Pinot Noir Sea Field Vineyard were harvested September 8 through September 9. It has inviting scents of raspberry and blackberry jam, tea leaves, orange peel and earth. The medium-bodied palate is silky and mouthwatering with alluring, perfumed flavors and a long, expressive finish. 500 cases were made. |

Salivating acids and a spine of searing tannins give th Sea Fields its shape and insistent, driving personality. Bright saline notes extend the nauced, bracing finish. | VM 95 (1/2026): The 2024 Pinot Noir Sea Field is powerful and tightly wound. Dark-toned fruit, leather, cedar, spice, incense and dried rose petal infuse the 2024 with tons of complexity. This potent, deep Pinot Noir packs a tremendous punch. There's a lot of wine here, but this needs time to soften and for the mid-palate to emerge. There's a striking, crystalline purity here.
