| VM 92 (6/2008): The estate's flagship wine, the 2005 Guado al Tasso, possesses gorgeous aromatics and a core of vibrant, dark fruit framed by finessed tannins. Medium to full-bodied, it shows superb balance, particularly in the use of French oak, something that I haven't always been able to say in the past. With air, attractive nots of wild herbs, smoke, minerals and sweet toasted oak develop to complete this very pretty Guado al Tasso. (Drink between 2013-2019.) Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 94 (10/2010): The 2007 Guado al Tasso screams of Bolgheri. Sweet grilled herbs, mocha, spices and black cherry jam are woven into a generous, expansive frame. There is a wonderful sense of richness and warmth to the fruit that carries through to the round harmonious finish, where clean, minerally notes add freshness. This is simply gorgeous today, but it is young, and the oak needs to integrate. Still, it is impossible not to admire the 2007 Guado al Tasso. In 2007 Guado al Tasso is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The late ripening Cabernet Franc, used in place of Syrah for the first time in 2007, adds a measure of freshness that had often been missing in previous vintages. Antonio Galloni. |

| VM 95 (8/2011): The 2008 Guado al Tasso is once again fabulous. In fact, it may be Tuscany's most improved wine over the last few years. Firm, vibrant tannins support expressive layers of dark fruit, plums, cherries, sage, espresso and mocha. The wine shows fabulous detail and nuance in a translucent, totally seductive style, with tons of focus, drive and verve. It is a striking wine that will be a joy to follow over the coming years. Guado al Tasso is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Antonio Galloni. |

JS 97 (8/2012): Best Guado al Tasso ever. Wonderful nose of crushed blackberries and cherries with hints of dark chocolate. Full-bodied, with soft and round tannins and a long, long finish. It goes on for minutes. Now just a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Better after 2015. WA 94 (6/2012): The 2009 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso impresses for its richness and sheer power. Mocha, sweet spices, plums, blackberries and herbs wrap around the palate as this intense wine shows off its pedigree. Layers of flavor build to the deep, intensely satisfying finish. The 2009 is complete and harmonious from the very first taste. In 2009 the blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029. VM 93 (9/2012): Bright medium ruby. Complex aromatic nose of blackberry, mocha, nutmeg, clove and tar lifted by a violet note. Lush, dense and seamless, with impressive volume nicely leavened by adequate acidity, which gives this big boy an element of finesse. Finishes powerful and very long, with a lingering chocolatey nuance and tannins that are quite suave and fine. WS 91 (5/2013): Though concentrated, this is lively and structured, showing integration of all the elements. The cherry, cedar and black currant notes, accented by hints of vanilla, carry the melody, while the tannins provide rhythm. Best from 2015 through 2024. 1,500 cases imported. |

WA 97 (8/2013): A star on the vast stage that is the Antinori wine empire, the 2010 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso is a seamless and stunning wine. It’s one of those rare wines that inspires praise and excited conversation from the very second you raise the glass to your nose. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Baritone aromas of black cherry, black currant, cured meat, sweet spice, Spanish cedar, mocha and wild Mediterranean herbs come together in graceful unity. In the mouth, the wine is exceedingly smooth and decadent with a long velvety trail that softly coats the palate. This is one for the cellar. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030. JS 95 (11/2013): A rich, beautiful wine with a dark-chocolate, currant and raspberry character. Full body with velvety tannins and a clean finish. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. This is very youthful and needs at least three years of bottle age. VM 90 (9/2012): (a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah): Bright red. Fruit-driven aromas of blueberry, strawberry and roast coffee; shows an exotic, candied-fruit character typical of many Tuscan Coast cabernet/merlot/syrah blends. Sweet and lush on entry, then mountingly austere toward the back, showing floral and dark chocolate flavors and lovely vinosity. Finishes with very good persistence. |

VM 97+ (4/2018): Another vivid wine, the 2015 Matarocchio marries freshness with power and depth. In 2015, the 100% Cabernet Franc Matarocchio has a more red fruit and floral profile than it has in the past. Dense and voluptuous in the glass, the 2015 retains a surprising level of nuance for such a richly-textured wine. Antonio Galloni. WA 96 (9/2018): The 2015 Matarocchio (all Cabernet Franc) is a gorgeous wine, but it does not reach the stunning heights achieved in the knock-out 2013 vintage. This wine was not produced in 2014, and only 5,000 bottles were made in this vintage. Compared to the 2013 edition, this wine appears to have a slightly smaller aromatic range. This gives it a very focused and direct approach. In other words, this vintage is more vertical than it is horizontal in its delivery. The tannins are a more evident here and more nervous or crunchy. The wine is composed of deep, dark and penetrating fruit, with bitter chocolate and savory tobacco. It also shows a salty mineral note that makes your mouth salivate. This vintage of Matarocchio needs a few more years of bottle aging to gain in volume. |
