WS 88 (4/1997): Full-bodied, full-flavored, smooth in texture and Port-like in character. Nicely mature. The chocolaty, gamy flavors match with rich meat dishes or after-dinner cheeses. Drink now through 2000. 3,100 cases made.

WS 87 (10/2005): Intense eucalyptus at first, but it rolls away to reveal pleasant dried fruit, cardamom and light oaky character. Medium- to full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a slightly tangy finish. A clean, traditional Amarone. Best after 2005. 6,000 cases made.

VM 90 (5/2017): Bright dark red with a pale amber tinge at the rim. Ripe aromas and flavors of red cherry and aromatic spices. Offers a decadent, luscious mouthfeel with soft tannins, but also a touch of alcohol-derived warmth. The finish is long and savory. Though not the most complex Amarone Tommasi has ever made, it has a lovely easy to drink quality for such a big wine and is very hard to resist in its candied, opulent personality. Ian D'Agata.
