VM 93+ (12/2009): The 2002 Brut Tête de Cuvée Fiacre is simply fantastic. The wine seems to capture a beautiful middle ground between the older and new styles at the house. The Cuvée Fiacre shows remarkable richness and depth while remaining light on its feet. Wild flowers, menthol and anise are some of the nuances that linger on the supremely graceful finish. The Cuvée Fiacre is an old-vines coeur du cuvée pressing, 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir. Dosage is 8 grams. As one might reasonably expect, it comes across as a bit weightier than the 2002 Millésime. This is magnificent Champagne. Disgorged July, 2009. Antonio Galloni.
BH 93 (10/2009): A complex, pure and layered nose of floral, citrus and yeast aromas displays noticeable but not advanced age that merge into racy and lively flavors supported by a high degree of effervescence, indeed this is downright foamy, yet the depth on the flavors and finish is lovely as well. If there is a nit, this is not especially refined but the character and persistence are impressive. (Drink starting 2012). |

| VM 93 (11/2012): Light yellow. A complex, heady bouquet evokes white flowers, quince, ginger and white pepper, along with a strong mineral overtone. Taut and linear on entry, then fleshier in the mid-palate, offering vibrant, mineral-laced citrus flavors and a hint of honeysuckle. VM 94 (11/2014): The 2008 Extra-Brut Cuvée Les Alliées, 100% Pinot Meunier, deftly marries the energy of the year with old-vine depth in a wine that is utterly convincing from the very firs taste. Just as striking as it was last year, the Alliées graces the palate with exquisite depth and nuance. Dried flowers, anise and pear notes are given an extra kick of brightness on the vibrant finish. This is another exceptional wine from Alexandre Chartogne. (Drink between 2014-2020). Antonio Galloni.
WA 92 (11/2013): Representing a new cuvee from a relatively clay rich site planted entirely to Meunier, the Chartogne-Taillet 2008 Extra Brut Cuvee Les Alliees smells remarkable in its mingling of noble fungus, parsnip, and caraway. It seems almost as though we have here a blend of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon and Gewurztraminer! That trio, too, could have sufficed to account for the richly meaty, veal stock-like savor that emerges on the fine-grained palate to accompany the flavors already intimated in the nose. Elevage here incorporated barriques shed by Anne Gros, and there is a hint of barrel resin. But that oak influence in no way cuts down on the primary juiciness or the mouthwatering Merfy- and/or Chartogne-signature salinity in a sustained finish. This should prove highly versatile at table as well as fascinating to follow over the next 3-6 years. (Though of course, if there were to be a later disgorgement, that would be worth comparing and following in its own right. |

| VM 94 (12/2014): Light, bright gold. An exotic, highly perfumed bouquet displays poached pear, nectarine and chamomile, along with a smoky mineral overtone. Juicy and broad on entry but tighter in the mid-palate, offering penetrating blood orange and poached pear flavors and a hint of bitter peach pit. | VM 93 (11/2015): In 2010, Alexandre Chartogne did not bottle his single parcel Meunier Champagnes from Les Alliées and Les Barres because the challenging conditions during the harvest. The best fruit was blended together for the Extra-Brut Lettre de mon Meunier, which is likely (hopefully) a one-time bottling. Hazelnut, dried pear, torrefaction, spice and a host of warm, nutty tones emerge effortlessly. This is the most pliant and expressive of Alexandre Chartogne's new releases.
