Small Production, Big Reputation: Arnoux-Lachaux

Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux has become one of Burgundy’s most talked-about and sought-after producers—and for good reason. Under the direction of Charles Lachaux, the domaine has quietly redefined what Vosne-Romanée and its neighboring appellations can express, blending deep respect for terroir with a strikingly modern sensibility.
Working with old vines, organic and biodynamic practices, and an uncompromising focus on precision, Arnoux-Lachaux produces wines of remarkable purity, energy, and texture. These are Burgundies that feel alive in the glass: lifted aromatics, silky tannins, and a sense of transparency that allows each vineyard to speak clearly. From village to Premier Cru and Grand Cru bottlings, the wines share a signature elegance and finesse that has captured the attention of critics and collectors worldwide.
Demand has surged as allocations have tightened, making these wines increasingly difficult to secure on the secondary market. For collectors, this represents a rare opportunity to acquire bottles from one of Burgundy’s most exciting contemporary domaines while they are still relatively young—and before availability becomes even more constrained.
Whether you’re looking to cellar wines that will evolve beautifully over decades or simply want to experience the cutting edge of modern Burgundy, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux delivers on every level. Quantities are extremely limited, and interest is strong.
The following are the wines remaining from the offer sent on Monday, January 26, 2026. Please enter your desired quantities and click the 'Add' button.

| BH 86-88 (1/2011): A fruity and very fresh nose of red berry fruit and earth nuances that carry over to the detailed, pure and vibrant middle weight flavors that possess notably better depth than is usually found at this level plus a lingering and firm finish. Lovely. (Drink starting 2013) |

WS 89 (7/2018): Smoky cherry and berry fruit marks this juicy red. Vibrant and sleek, with a moderately long finish echoing smoke and spice details. Drink now through 2020. 830 cases made. VM 88 (1/2017): (bottled in mid-August; vinified with 80% whole clusters): Lovely spicy Pinot aromas and flavors of raspberry, minerals, flowers and dark chocolate. A very fresh, juicy Bourgogne Rouge with terrific gulpability. Stephen Tanzer. BH 88 (1/2017): (from 60+ year old vines based on the original pinot fin strain that is so highly regarded today.) A cool, pretty and pure nose reflects notes of various red berries, floral and a hint of earth. There is terrific energy and fine detail to the utterly delicious flavors that possess outstanding depth and length for a regional wine. Recommended. Drink 2018+. Outstanding Top Value! |

WA 89 (6/2010): Smoky Latakia tobacco and bittersweet herbs accent the bright, fresh red berry fruit of Lachaux’s 2008 Chambolle-Musigny, with the decadent side of this appellation revealing itself in suggestions of forest floor, well-hung game, and faded lily inner-mouth perfume. Refined tannins underlie a finish tinged with smoke, fruit pit bitterness, and considerable intrigue for a village-level wine. I would expect this to provide admirable satisfaction for at least a half dozen years. BH 87-89 (1/2010): Very mild reduction cannot suppress the otherwise lightly spiced high-toned and cool red pinot fruit that gives way to supple but precise flavors that possess ample verve and a touch of minerality on the dusty, long and linear finish. I very much like the mouth feel here and this has the potential to be a very good villages. Drink 2014+. VM 87 (3/2011): Good medium red. Pure aromas of blackberry and blueberry lifted by mint and menthol. Juicy and supple, with moderate intensity and ripe, harmonious acidity. Nicely balanced wine with a savory finish featuring slightly dry tannins. Pascal Lachaux believes that 2009 will be a "mid-term vintage," while the 2008s "will be good early and late" and may never shut down. |

BH 92-94 (1/2014): (from vines next to the wall by Grands Echezeaux; 40% whole cluster) Relatively heavy reduction renders the nose unreadable. There is excellent richness, size, weight and power to the medium weight plus flavors that brim with mouth coating dry extract that buffers well the firm tannic spine on the strikingly long finish. This is austere but not really rustic and should amply reward mid to long-term cellaring. Drink 2027+. VM 91-93 (1/2014): (50% vendange entier): Bright medium red. Candied red cherry and redcurrant aromas are accented by pepper and fresh herbs. Juicy, spicy and bright, showing lovely cut and energy to the red fruit and mineral flavors. The youthfully firm tannins are a bit tough today but the finish displays attractive floral lift. |

BH 93-95 (1/2012): (from a .53 ha parcel) A fresh but quite restrained and noticeably cool nose of herb and stone-infused wild red berry fruit aromas precedes impressively intense, powerful and agreeably rich medium-bodied flavors that ooze a fine minerality on the wonderfully detailed flavors that explode on the mouth coating and overtly stony finish. Like the Suchots, this is one impressive effort with Outstanding upside potential though note that at least 15 years of cellar time will be required. Drink 2025+. Don't miss! VM 90-92 (1/2012): (from 55-year-old vines picked six days after the Vosne-Romanee premier crus in 2010): Good full, bright medium red. Aromas of small wild dark berries, licorice, coffee and sweet oak perked up by pepper and herbs. Fat and sweet, but without quite the definition of the Reignots, Clos Vougeot or Echezeaux. With its creamy, candied qualities and herbal edge, this suggests a wider range of fruit ripeness than most of the other 2010s here. A bit clenched on the back. |

BH 94 (1/2014): (from a .53 ha parcel). An exquisitely fresh and pure nose of cool red currant and mineral reduction slides gracefully into detailed, precise and restrained medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent verve and a taut muscularity. This really brims with minerality on the mouth coating finish that delivers super length. Terrific. Drink 2023+. VM 91-94 (2/2013): Good deep red-ruby. Cool aromas and flavors of raspberry, red cherry and crushed rock lifted by pepper and herbs. Pure, juicy and precise if a bit youthfully imploded, but already showing terrific sappy intensity. Finishes very long and perfumed, with a serious tannic spine. Promises to be Lachaux's best vintage yet for this cuvee, which he initiated with the 2008 after purchasing these old vines from Christopher Newman. |

| BH 92-95 (1/2020): This too is very floral in character with its cool essence of red cherry with hints of the sauvage and earth lurking in the background. The super-sleek and lacy middle weight flavors appear to be built on a base of pungent minerality before terminating in a firm, serious and youthfully austere finale. This is a classic Latricières that will require extended patience if you wish to enjoy it at its peak. Drink 2033+. |

BH 90-92 (1/2011): (for inveterate map readers, Clos des Corvees Pagets is situated within Clos des Corvees). As is usually the case, this is finer than the Procès with its ripe dark berry fruit and cassis aromas trimmed in a touch of rose petal that are followed by very fresh, suave and delineated flavors that possess real verve on the refined finish that is given shape by the dense but fine tannins. This should be quite good in time. Drink 2017+. Outstanding! VM 89-92 (2/2011): Good deep, bright red. Aromas of chocolatey oak, tobacco and mint. Big, round, solid and rich, but I wanted more energy and lift. Finishes with big but ripe tannins that will not get in the way of early enjoyment. Very 2009 in its creamy, easygoing texture but, as with many wines from this vintage, I don't sense a hidden dimension here. |

VM 93-96 (1/2016): (100% vendange entier; 80% new oak): Deep red-ruby. Alluring aromas of black raspberry, licorice and minerals show a noble, deep vegetal nuance that reminded me of a young Romanee-Conti. The youthfully unevolved middle palate displays the depth, pliancy and freshness of the vintage at its best. Finishes extremely long and ripely tannic, with palate-saturating sweetness and mineral pungency. These 90-year-old vines were originally planted by the father of Robert Arnoux, according to Pascal, who added that the estate's vines in Suchots are even older, at 94. Stephen Tanzer. BH 95 (1/2017): (from a .375 ha parcel situated by La Grande Rue.) An even more elegant nose of spicy and floral red and black pinot fruit is nuanced by subtle traces of sandalwood, Asian-style tea, soy and anise. There is fine concentration to the relatively powerful sappy and mouth coating flavors that are shaped by wonderfully fine-grained tannins on the hugely long, balanced and moderately austere finale. This terrific and notably powerful effort is also quite silky yet it should have zero difficulty rewarding at least 15 to 20 years of cellar time. Drink 2029+. |

WS 91 (4/2014): Bursting with cherry, raspberry and floral flavors, this is supple and intense. The firm, vibrant structure creates harmony, while the fruit and mineral notes finish long and satisfying. Best from 2015 through 2023. 350 cases made. BH 90-93 (1/2013): A highly spiced nose of both red and black pinot fruit is trimmed in hints of earth and sandalwood. The very generous and impressively rich medium weight flavors are blessed with an abundance of dry extract that imparts a beguilingly seductive texture to the lush, balanced and persistent finish. This is first rate as Chaumes rarely possesses this level of potential quality. Drink 2018+. Outstanding! VM 90-93 (2/2013): (racked and sulfited): Good bright, dark red. Raspberry, spices, flowers and licorice on the scented nose. Dense, sweet and creamy, with a dominant flavor of sappy maraschino cherry. Finishes impressively long and palate-saturating, with ripe tannins and good medicinal reserve. Lachaux noted that this cuvee used to be harder, but is very supple in both 2011 and 2010. Excellent potential. |

VM 93 (4/2010): Good medium red. Deeply pitched aromas of black raspberry, spices, chocolate and cocoa powder, with intriguing high notes of flowers and minerals. Rich, sweet and deep, with a round texture that makes this a treat already. There's a sappy quality to the dark raspberry and cherry fruit, but Lachaux notes that this has the highest pH of his 2007s, at 3.61. Finishes with substantial supple, broad tannins. In comparison, the Echezeaux is a bit tighter and racier but this is downright sexy. These 2007s have indeed delivered on their substantial early promise. Lachaux told me that he has made 23 vintages and 2007 is one of his two or three favorite years. "Right now I prefer 2007 to 2005," he said, "but in ten years it may be the other way around." WA 92 (6/2010): Lachaux’s 2007 Vosne Romanee Les Suchots is prominently gamey, with a mustard-like pungency allied to its ripe plum and black raspberry fruit. With its tannins - like those of the corresponding Reignots - seamlessly integrated, indeed with a velvet-like feel, this displays additional animal as well as peat-like mineral shadings in its long finish. Seductive already, I would look for a decade if not longer of satisfaction, though it’s clear Lachaux thinks I am underestimating this wines potential as well as its present caliber, which I nonetheless agree is undeniably impressive. BH 91 (1/2010): (from a .45 ha parcel situated at the very top of the vineyard). Wonderfully spicy, pure and almost wafting aromas of primarily black fruit but fruit that carries ample spice elements that are also picked up by the suave, velvety and lightly mineral infused medium weight plus flavors brimming with dry extract on the mouth coating finish where a touch of wood resurfaces. A harmonious wine that offers fine complexity. Drink 2014+. |

| BH 94 (1/2021): ( from a .45 ha parcel situated at the very top of the vineyard; Les Grands Suchots is the name for the upper portion of the vineyard and was in use by a few domaines up through the 1970s.) A distinctly floral nose offers up a beguiling blend of very ripe red and dark pinot fruit, sandalwood, Asian-style tea and plenty of spice whiffs. There is a highly refined mouthfeel to the rich, suave and super-seductive medium-bodied flavors that tighten up quickly on the balanced and impressively persistent finale. This youthfully austere effort is very Suchots in character and an excellent example that should age gracefully for the next 15+ years. Drink 2033+. Outstanding! |
