VM 87 (8/2003): Saturated, dark ruby-red. Reticent, backward nose combines small berries, black plum, dark olive, leather, chocolate and vanilla. Simple and honest, with ripe plum and cassis flavors framed by a thick coating of chunky, green-edged tannins. A wine of modest complexity.
WS 85 (9/2002): Firm tannins make for a chewy wine, but buried in the core is a nub of juicy plum and currant fruit that needs a little time to surface. Best after 2003. 44,000 cases made. |
