| WA 92 (2/2009): Light to medium gold with a greenish hue, this wine exhibits wonderfully pure notes of wood spice such as vanillin, honeyed citrus, a hint of under-ripe peach, and touches of creme brulee and marmalade. With great acidity and finesse, this is a medium-bodied, impressively endowed, but generally very racy, restrained style of wine that should age beautifully for 25 or more years. It is not the sweetest, and by no means the biggest wine of 2006, but it has nobility tattooed all over it. |

| WA 94 (5/2016): The 2006 Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux has always been one of the pinnacle white releases from this First Growth and at ten years of age, I have no reason to change my mind. It has an exquisite bouquet of lemon curd, orange scents and a touch of praline that is very delineated and focused. The palate exhibits fine balance with hints of crème fraiche, almond and even a cheeky dab of marzipan. Funnily enough, it is difficult imagining that this is 100% Sauvignon Blanc and in fact, there is something almost Burgundy-like about this Pavillon Blanc (as I suggested in my barrel tasting note). Irrespective of origin, what it constitutes is a damn glorious white Bordeaux that comes highly recommended. So much so, I would drink this now rather than later. Tasted January 2016. |

| WA 95+ (8/2019): Medium lemon-gold colored, the 2006 d'Yquem is a little reticent at this stage, slowly revealing notes of pineapple pastry, dried apple slices, orange preserves and spice cake plus nuances of crème brûlee, preserved ginger, nutmeg and baking bread. The palate offers mouth-coating tropical fruit and baking spice layers with a seductive oiliness to the texture and loads of citrus sparks, finishing with bold freshness and amazing length. Allow it just a couple more years in bottle to get over this slightly muted hump, then drink it for the next 25+ years. |
