WA 94 (7/2019): The 2016 Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir is a wine of tremendous appeal and seduction. Herb-tinged black cherries and cola notes appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is rich and silky, lined with plush yet well-defined tannins that support the fruit and linger on the long finish. It's approachable now, but it should drink well for a decade or more. BH 90 (10/2020): This is aromatically quite similar to the 2017 version though noticeably spicier. The delicious and vibrant flavors aren't quite as dense though the supporting tannins are a bit finer on the dusty and lingering if slightly attenuated finish. This is certainly attractive but it's not quite as harmonious as its 2017 counterpart. (Drink starting 2023). VM 87 (11/2018): The 2016 Pinot Noir offers juicy ripe red cherries and cassis aromas on the nose. The palate is well balanced if not complex, offering supple tannin and pleasant cranberry and tobacco notes towards the finish. Drink now and over the next three or four years. (Drink between 2018-2022). Neal Martin. |

WA 94 (2/2020): The 2017 Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir shows considerable intensity and length, but it starts off with charming floral notes, hints of thyme and cedar and lashings of black cherries. It's that elusive combination of concentration and complexity, wrapped in a silky coat of ripe tannins, that raises this wine to the next level. It should drink well for a decade or more. BH 91 (10/2020): A ripe and very deeply pitched nose is comprised by notes of violet, baked plum, dark cherry and an interesting hint of anise. There is lovely verve and richness to the utterly delicious and seductive textured, even plush, flavors that are shaped by bright acidity and moderately firm tannins on the ever-so-mildly warm finish. Lovely though this is a wine that definitely needs to unwind to at least some patience advised. (Drink starting 2024). |

WA 94 (6/2021): From the biodynamically farmed "home" vineyard, the 2018 Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir features hints of thyme, mocha and cedar, all accenting kaleidoscopic fruit notes that range from plums to red raspberries and back. Medium-bodied, it's expansive on the palate without being weighty, silky and ripe while still being structured, with a long, richly textural finish. While drinkable now, it will certainly still be going strong a decade (and probably longer) from now. VM 91 (3/2021): Burn Cottage has managed to capture a sense of coolness despite the warm vintage. There's lovely transparency and delicacy on the midpalate while still being ripe: dried cranberries, red cherry, almond, Christmas spice and even a slight lift of pepper. The tannins offer a fine powdery sensation and the 23% new oak provides background support for the fruit. A solid, layered effort. (Drink between 2021-2028). Rebecca Gibbs. |

VM 90 (9/2012): Good full, bright red. Smoky, slightly reduced aromas of red cherry, strawberry, raspberry and underbrush. Rich, pliant and broad but with good energy to the soil-driven flavors of sweet red fruits, rose petal and smoky underbrush. Finishes tactile, saline and long, with smooth tannins and subtle floral lift. Stephen Tanzer. WA 89+ (10/2012): Blended of 80% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Malbec, the 2010 Te Kahu Merlot Cabernets is deep garnet-purple in color with pronounced red and black plum aromas plus hints of mulberries, baking spices, mocha, pencil shavings and lavender. Medium bodied with a good amount of berry and spice flavors, the flesh is well supported by a medium level of velvety tannins and lively acid, finishing long. Drinking nicely now, it should keep to 2018+. |
