| WA 84 (2/1999): The 1996 Crozes-Hermitage exhibits a deep ruby color, and a smoky, dried herb, and spicy-scented nose that is slightly green. In the mouth, the wine is medium-bodied, with moderate tannin, tangy, crisp acidity, a green pepper character, and an attenuated, lean finish. I tasted this wine twice, but could not work up much enthusiasm. |

| VM 90 (1/1999): Deep ruby. Perfumed blackberry, violet and oak spice aromas. Quite intense and bright in the mouth, with flavors similar to the aromas; complicating mineral and brown spice notes emerged with aeration. Finishes with very firm but even tooth-furring tannins, a note of mint and impressive persistence. Stephen Tanzer. |
