Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Slightly Depressed Cork |

| WA 91 (12/1996): The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a dense, ruby/purple color, an unevolved but promising sweet, cedar, blackcurrant, vanillin-scented nose, medium to full-body, fine elegance, underlying acidity, ripe tannin, and a Graves-like, tobacco component that provides complexity. This wine should be accessible young, but will not hit its stride for 5-6 years; it will last for two decades. It will be a fascinating wine to follow over the next 15-20 years. |

| WA 89 (12/1998): The luxury-priced 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve reveals a dark plum/purple color, and lavish quantities of toasty new oak in the smoky, vanillin, and cassis-scented nose. This forward, soft, medium to full-bodied wine possesses very good to excellent concentration, but the abundant wood flavors push the taster's tolerance to the limit. While this Reserve offering is undoubtedly excellent, I did not detect the depth or concentration necessary to support aging beyond a decade. |

WA 95 (12/1998): The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which has been closed since bottling, has just begun to open and display its enormous potential. The saturated black/purple color is followed by aromas of gorgeously pure blackberry and cassis scents. Toasty oak notes are barely discernable given the wine's bombastic display of black fruits, huge, chewy glycerin level, and sensational finish. It will be exciting to follow the evolution of the 1994 and 1995. VM 93 (8/1998): Ruby-red. Deep, complex, perfumed aromas of black cherry, redcurrant, plum, tar and loam. Lush, velvety and very intensely flavored, with strong extract and lovely ripe acidity giving the fruit excellent delineation. Full, rich, sweet and refined. Very slow to build on the long finish. Tannins are substantial but sweet. |
